Chu Xingchen didn't answer Qing He's words but instead turned his gaze toward the corridor.
Whether Qing He's love for walking in the snow was foolishness or some quirk of a flood dragon, he didn't know. But Chu Xingchen could be certain that Xie Lingyu definitely wouldn't come through the snow like this.
Qing He frowned slightly, her short legs quickly running into the corridor, then shaking off the snow from her body:
"Don't look—Lingyu didn't come."
Chu Xingchen withdrew his gaze and smiled slightly:
"Then why did you come alone today?"
Qing He hadn't come since running away during the Ten Thousand Flowers Ridge sect construction.
Even though Xie Lingyu had come several times, Qing He, this flood dragon who always loved to join in the excitement, had never come along.
He didn't know if it was because she had no face to return after escaping midway, or if she wanted to wait until everything was completely finished to avoid being caught by Chu Xingchen to work again.
Qing He sighed softly: "Do you know that Grandmother Bai went to handle some matters?"
"Yes, Lingyu mentioned it. What about it?"
"Do you know where Grandmother Bai went?"
Chu Xingchen didn't hesitate to reach out and lightly tap Qing He's head:
"If you have something to say, don't use a questioning approach. That makes people really want to hit you. Consider this tap a lesson for you."
Qing He's little expression showed some grievance as she rubbed the spot Chu Xingchen had tapped.
She asked with some confusion: "Wouldn't that make me seem smarter?"
Chu Xingchen sighed softly: "You're already very smart. Just say what you have to say."
Hearing what she knew was Chu Xingchen's dismissive words, being called smart by the black-hearted kid actually made her somewhat happy.
As for whether it was sarcastic—was that something Qing He should worry about?
Qing He didn't delay either, taking out a jade slip sealed with multiple layers of restrictions from her spatial ring and handing it to Chu Xingchen.
Chu Xingchen didn't reach out to take it directly but looked at Qing He with confusion.
"This was sent to you by Grandmother Bai. The Sect Master asked me to deliver it. This is a top-level confidential matter of the sect—even Lingyu doesn't know about it."
Qing He's expression showed a hint of pride. She hadn't expected that although Grandmother Bai seemed to disdain her, she actually recognized her quite well in her heart.
Such top-level confidential matters were secretly entrusted to her to handle alone.
Within his field of vision, various colors of spiritual energy streaked past Bai Xuanling. Ten cultivators from Tian Yan Sect formed a grand formation, pressing down toward that island like the firmament itself.
The cultivation of these cultivators was at least at the Great Vehicle Stage.
From forming the formation to pressing down on the island, it took only a blink of an eye.
What followed was terrifying power that raised white waves covering the sky, as if heaven and earth had all turned white.
Bai Xuanling reached out, seemingly pushing lightly to the side.
The surging waves were pushed aside, revealing the true situation below.
A grotesquely shaped giant beast was bound by the ten Tian Yan Sect cultivators. The grand formation cut toward the beast like fine threads, and crimson blood sprayed forth.
The giant beast's roar was extremely ferocious. Its four eyes on both sides were bloodshot with rage, and dark red, slightly black power rippled outward in all directions.
But in the next moment, the jade slip's view instantly changed to the turbulent sea surface.
Then Bai Xuanling seemed to slowly turn around to look at the giant beast.
One could only see the giant beast's head falling from high above, crashing into the sea surface and creating waves, with crimson blood flowing.
The jade slip could only simply record the scene before it, completely unable to keep up with Bai Xuanling's extremely fast movement speed.
"Burn it all. Not a trace of blood should be spared."
Bai Xuanling's cool and solemn voice came again.
The image instantly went dark, followed by a message written by Bai Xuanling.
[The matter is strange. The celestial phenomena are illusory. The Tian Yan technique is not empty illusion.]
[The Great Dao and Heavenly Dao are ultimately difficult to distinguish between illusion and reality. The truth of this world is extremely hard to discern.]
[In ancient times, a true dragon failed to transcend the tribulation and fell. Its fortune scattered and collapsed.]
[Now the world's destiny converges. The tribulation should be on the eighteen sects, but you emerged out of nowhere. Common logic cannot deduce this.]
[The matter is abnormal. There must be an explanation.]
[I fear this tribulation may concern you. I have ordered Qing He to deliver the ancient sealed records of the Great Tribulation. Study them carefully. Whether it concerns you or not, you should prepare early.]
[Act with caution. Cultivate diligently. Perhaps the sky's collapse is but a moment away.]
[This matter is still top secret. It should not be publicized to avoid complications.]
[Destroy the jade slip after reading.]
Chu Xingchen's divine consciousness returned, his expression becoming slightly solemn. Then he poured turbulent spiritual energy into the jade slip.
In just a moment, the jade slip transformed into flowing light and scattered.
Chu Xingchen lowered his gaze and saw Qing He's extremely curious eyes.
She quickly asked: "What did Grandmother Bai say?"
Chu Xingchen raised an eyebrow: "Senior Bai said I lack a divine weapon. She said the horn on your head is a rare material and told me to break it off to refine a divine weapon."
Qing He's expression changed drastically upon hearing this, and she quickly retreated several steps:
"Impossible! How could Grandmother Bai treat me like this?!"
Qing He looked horrified, but after some careful reflection, she felt what Chu Xingchen said made some sense.
Why call only her to deliver a letter?
It wasn't trust! Grandmother Bai was fishing! And she was letting this fish deliver itself right to the door!
Damn it! And she had been so moved!
"Alright, I was just joking with you. Senior Bai just has something for me to handle. The letter says you brought a book for me. Give me the book."
Chu Xingchen smiled and reached out to signal Qing He to hand over the book.
Qing He's expression calmed slightly upon hearing this, but her small eyes still held some suspicion as she took out a rather thick and slightly old book from her spatial ring.
She didn't dare walk over, instead using spiritual energy to pass it over.
Chu Xingchen didn't mind. He took it, flipped through it a couple of times to confirm the content was correct and Qing He hadn't given the wrong book, then put it away.
"Later, we'll make tea here and barbecue some things." Chu Xingchen looked at Qing He.
"Are you planning to eat some... or go back?"
Qing He reached up to protect the horn on her head, then said quietly:
"Then let me eat a little..."
