Chapter 19 - The Final Fate

The sky was no longer a sky

It was a wound.

A vast, bleeding rift stretched across the heavens, pulsing in deep crimson waves as if reality itself had been torn open and left to rot. The World Eater loomed within it—an impossible titan, its body swallowing light, its limbs dragging across the atmosphere like continents grinding against each other.

Below it…

Humanity screamed.

A mother clutched her child beneath a collapsed overpass, her hands shaking as ash fell like snow around them. The ground trembled with every distant impact from the war above. She couldn't see the full battle—only shadows moving through clouds, flashes of light, and falling debris.

A building across the street suddenly split in half.

The top floors collapsed in slow, horrifying motion before slamming into the ground in a thunderous explosion. The shockwave threw dust and shards across the road, forcing her to shield her child's head.

"Don't look," she whispered, though her own eyes were wide with terror.

Above them, something massive roared.

Not a creature.

Not a machine.

Something worse.

On another street, a group of civilians ran blindly through smoke-filled alleys. Sirens wailed, but there was no direction—no safe zone left untouched. A masked Charger staggered past them, armor cracked and drenched in oil and blood, dragging a broken leg as he fired one last blast behind him.

"Go!" he shouted.

The civilians didn't argue.

Behind him, a wave of robotic units surged forward, their red eyes glowing through the smoke like predators closing in.

The Charger turned.

Activated everything he had left.

And disappeared in a white explosion that took dozens of machines with him.

The civilians never looked back.

High above the clouds—

Two giants tore the sky apart.

The team's mech darted through a storm of missiles, its thrusters screaming as it twisted sideways to avoid a barrage from the World Eater. Explosions erupted around it, lighting up the grey clouds like artificial lightning.

Inside the cockpit—

"Left side failing!" Miles shouted, gripping his controls as sparks flew across his station.

"Stabilizing!" Saskia responded, copying Elyra's energy signature to reinforce the damaged armor.

Kenta roared, chainsaw systems revving to maximum. "Let me at him!"

Haruto stood at the center, blade in hand, eyes locked on the towering figure ahead.

Inside the World Eater's core—

The Herald watched him.

Unmoving.

Unshaken.

"You're still fighting," the Herald said calmly, his voice echoing through the mech's systems. "Even now."

Haruto tightened his grip.

"I told you," he replied, voice steady despite everything. "This time… we don't lose."

The Herald's expression didn't change.

"You have said that… thirty million times."

The World Eater swung.

A blade the size of a city block carved through the clouds.

Haruto reacted instantly.

"Block!"

The mech raised its weapon.

Impact.

The collision sent a shockwave so powerful it cleared the clouds for kilometers. The mech's arm cracked under the force, alarms screaming as systems overloaded.

"Structural integrity dropping!" Elyra warned.

The Herald pushed forward.

The mech was forced back—meters… then hundreds of meters… then slammed through a layer of clouds and began falling.

"Thrusters!" Haruto shouted.

Kenta slammed the controls.

The mech stabilized just above the city—

Too close.

The World Eater followed.

Its shadow swallowed entire districts as it descended, its presence alone causing windows to shatter and streets to fracture.

Below—

Civilians looked up.

And froze.

A man dropped his phone as the sky darkened completely.

"That… thing…" he whispered.

It wasn't just big.

It was wrong.

Like something that should not exist in their world.

The mech surged upward again.

"Full output!" Haruto commanded.

Every system screamed in protest.

Energy poured into the blade.

The mech dashed forward, cutting through incoming fire, dodging beams that carved through skyscrapers behind them.

They reached the World Eater.

Clashed again.

Blade against blade.

Metal shrieked.

The mech's weapon shattered.

"WEAPONS DOWN!" Miles yelled.

The World Eater didn't hesitate.

It grabbed the mech.

Fingers the size of buildings crushed around its torso.

Armor bent.

Metal tore.

Inside—

Kenta slammed his fists against the controls. "MOVE, DAMN IT!"

Saskia screamed as systems overloaded. "We're going to be crushed!"

Elyra's voice cut through the panic.

"Emergency output—redirecting all power to escape thrusters!"

Haruto gritted his teeth.

"DO IT!"

The mech's core flared white.

Thrusters ignited at point-blank range.

The explosion blasted them free—but not cleanly.

One arm was gone.

Half the torso was crushed inward.

They spiraled downward.

Crashing.

Through.

Buildings.

The city shook.

Debris rained across the streets.

Civilians screamed as the crippled mech slammed into the ground, carving a trench through multiple blocks before finally stopping.

Silence followed.

Then—

The World Eater landed.

Each step was a disaster.

Shockwaves cracked the ground.

Entire buildings collapsed just from the impact.

The Herald's voice echoed again.

"Every cycle ends like this."

Inside the broken cockpit—

Haruto stood slowly.

Bleeding.

Breathing hard.

Still holding his blade.

Around him, his team struggled to move.

Systems were failing.

The mech was dying.

But the war wasn't over.

Below—

A child peeked out from behind rubble.

He saw the broken mech.

The giant enemy approaching.

And the lone figure inside, still standing.

The child whispered—

"…please…"

Above them, the red sky pulsed.

The rift widened.

The end was coming.

And for the first time in thirty million cycles—

Everything felt like it could truly break.

Or finally change.

Final Chapter: The Last Cycle (Part II)

The broken mech groaned.

Its systems were failing. Its core flickered like a dying star. Half its body was torn open, sparking and bleeding energy across the ruined streets of Tokyo.

Inside, no one spoke.

They all knew.

Haruto gripped the central blade tighter.

"…We're not done yet."

Kenta let out a weak laugh, blood dripping from his chin. "Heh… yeah… let's go out loud, yeah?"

Elyra's voice, quieter now but still steady, cut in. "Final protocol ready."

Miles swallowed. Saskia closed her eyes for just a second. Lilith looked forward, unflinching.

Haruto nodded.

"Then we end this."

The mech roared.

Thrusters ignited one last time as the shattered giant launched itself forward—not to dodge, not to fight—

But to grab.

It slammed into the World Eater, arms locking around the colossal machine's torso. Metal shrieked as their broken mech clung to something far beyond its weight class.

Inside the World Eater, the Herald frowned slightly.

"…A desperate choice."

"Self-destruct engaged!" Elyra announced.

The mech's core turned blinding white.

For a moment—

Everything slowed.

Below, civilians looked up as the sky ignited.

Then—

Explosion.

A detonation unlike anything before tore through the clouds. Light consumed both machines, ripping through the red sky and sending a shockwave that flattened entire districts.

The World Eater staggered.

Pieces of its outer armor shattered and fell like burning meteors toward the city.

When the light faded—

It still stood.

Damaged.

But not destroyed.

And from the smoke—

Figures emerged.

The Masked Chargers.

They had ejected at the last second.

Falling.

Then—

Boosting forward.

"NOW!" Haruto roared.

They charged.

The battlefield became a blur of power.

Haruto switched forms mid-air—Seven Samurai shifting into another, then another, blades multiplying, striking in impossible patterns.

Kenta's engines screamed as chainsaws extended, tearing through fragments of the World Eater as he used them as stepping stones to reach the Herald.

Miles created massive constructs—Lego dragons, walls, weapons—each one forming and shattering within seconds as he adapted.

Saskia copied everything—chainsaws, blades, energy blasts—layering powers over powers in rapid succession.

Lilith moved like a phantom, cartoon-like movements twisting reality as her strikes landed unpredictably.

Elyra shifted forms flawlessly—Saber, Dante, Vergil—each one enhancing her speed and precision, cutting through the Herald's defenses.

They fought like a storm.

No rhythm.

No pattern.

Just everything.

All at once.

The Herald was pushed back.

For the first time—

He staggered.

Then—

A new presence descended.

A figure clad in heavy, ancient armor—dark steel, glowing runes etched across its surface. A massive greatsword rested on his shoulder.

Mr. Yoshida.

His voice came through, deeper, steadier.

"Elden Form… engaged."

He stepped forward.

And swung.

The blade collided with the Herald's chest in a thunderous impact, sending him crashing through layers of air and debris.

The team followed.

Relentless.

Strike after strike.

Combo after combo.

Every power.

Every form.

Every last bit of strength.

The Herald dropped to one knee.

Silence hit for a fraction of a second.

They had done it.

They had forced him down.

Haruto stepped forward, breathing heavily.

"It ends here."

The Herald looked up.

And smiled.

He vanished.

A flicker.

A distortion.

Then—

He was behind Elyra.

His hand drove forward.

Through her.

Metal pierced.

Wires snapped.

Energy flickered violently from her body as his arm exited through her back.

Elyra froze.

"…Ah."

Her systems glitched.

Haruto's eyes widened. "ELYRA—!"

The Herald ripped his arm out.

She collapsed.

Lifeless.

Something inside Haruto snapped.

"YOU—!"

They charged again.

But the Herald moved faster.

Miles lunged forward with a massive construct—

The Herald cut through it.

Through him.

Miles fell in pieces of light and shattered form.

Saskia screamed and unleashed everything she had copied—

The Herald stepped through it.

And ended her.

Yoshida roared, charging with his greatsword

The clash lasted longer.

Steel against cosmic force.

Then—

Silence.

His armor cracked.

And he fell.

One by one.

They disappeared.

Lilith tried to strike from behind—

But even she couldn't break through.

The battlefield emptied.

Until only two remained.

Haruto.

And Kenta.

Kenta staggered forward, chainsaws revving weakly.

"…Still here, huh…"

The Herald tilted his head.

"You persist."

He moved.

Too fast.

Kenta's arms were torn off before he could react.

Then his legs.

Then—

Everything.

The Herald dismantled him piece by piece, organs scattering across the ruined air like fragments of something once alive.

Kenta didn't scream.

He just laughed weakly.

"…guess… we lost, huh…"

Then he was thrown aside.

Broken.

Still.

Haruto screamed.

The Herald raised his hand.

Space itself twisted.

Nails—long, glowing constructs—shot downward.

They pierced Haruto's arms.

His legs.

His torso.

Pinning him to the shattered ground.

He gasped, blood spilling from his mouth.

The Herald walked toward him slowly.

"It always ends this way."

Haruto's vision blurred.

Kenta's body lay nearby.

Broken.

Gone.

"No…"

Haruto's fingers twitched.

"…not this time…"

He moved.

The nails tore deeper into his flesh as he forced himself upward.

Skin ripped.

Muscle tore.

Bone cracked.

He didn't stop.

With a scream, he ripped himself free.

Leaving pieces of himself behind.

He stumbled forward.

Grabbed Kenta's fallen chainsaw.

Revved it.

And charged.

The Herald didn't move.

Haruto drove the chainsaw into his chest.

For a moment—

It held.

Then—

It shattered.

The blade broke apart.

Silence.

The Herald grabbed him by the neck.

Lifted him effortlessly.

"You tried."

The world twisted.

They teleported.

The city.

The civilians.

The survivors.

They looked up as Haruto appeared in the sky, held by the throat.

The same child from before stared.

"…no…"

The Herald looked down at them.

"At least you can witness the end."

He tightened his grip.

And—

Crushed.

Haruto's head exploded.

Silence fell across the streets.

The Herald released the body.

It fell.

Unmoving.

He turned to the sky.

"Cycle complete."

His voice echoed across the dying world.

"Another failure."

He looked toward the rift.

"…I only hope… that girl does not create another world."

A pause.

"…and try again."

He raised his hand.

A portal opened.

Inside it—

A sun.

Burning.

Collapsing.

He pulled it through.

The heat alone ignited the atmosphere.

The sky turned white.

Then blue.

Then nothing.

The sun collapsed inward—

And exploded.

A supernova.

Light consumed everything.

The city.

The planet.

The sky.

The cycle.

Gone.

Silence.

End.
