Birnin Zana – One Month After Global Opening
The world had wasted no time.
The shimmering skyline of Birnin Zana now glowed brighter than ever. Part tradition, part innovation and a hint of commercial chaos. The first foreign franchises had finally passed the paperwork labyrinth with coffee, curses and sometimes a call from an angry noona or a mama. Thanks to Peter and Shuri's carefully regulated "Cultural Integration Program."
On the city's main promenade, new neon signs gleamed alongside elegant Wakandan script:
STARBUCKS BIRNIN ZANA – Brewed with the Spirit of Bast!
KFC ROYAL BRANCH – Fried with Precision!
McPanther's – Home of the Vibranium Burger!
Locals passed the shops with a mix of curiosity and skepticism. Teenagers snapped pictures, drones hummed overhead and the scent of spice and coffee danced through the air.
The Arrival
A sleek Parker Industries transport descended gracefully on a floating platform, its polished frame bearing the Parker Defense Solutions logo. The doors hissed open, revealing the first official tourists invited under the new international friendship program.
Uncle Ben stepped out first, adjusting his sunhat. "Now this is what I call a retirement destination."
Aunt May followed, clutching her bag and grinning. "Ben, don't embarrass us. We're guests of a king!"
Behind them came Captain George Stacy, looking deeply uncomfortable in a Hawaiian shirt. Gwen tugged at his arm with a grin. "Come on, Dad. Try to smile. It's Wakanda! You're supposed to enjoy this!"
Stacy sighed. "I'm still not sure how you talked me into this, Gwen. I still have cases to solve!!! I'm the police captain damn it !!!"
Peter descended last, his trademark calm composure in place. "Actually, she bribed you with Aunt May's peach pie."
"...you all talk too much," George muttered.
The Welcome
At the bottom of the ramp, Shuri awaited them, flanked by Dora Milaje guards. She wore a sleek modern outfit with Wakandan motifs. She was confident, radiant and amused.
"Welcome to Wakanda." She said with a smile. "Please, no sudden dancing. We've had enough of that from the last American delegation."
Uncle Ben chuckled. "You might regret saying that, Princess. Also, congratulations on witnessing your first flash mob."
Shuri's grin widened. "Challenge accepted, elder and thank you."
She gestured toward the glimmering city below. "Your itinerary includes cultural exhibits, the Panther Museum, and…" her tone grew mock-dramatic, "the first approved foreign eateries on Wakandan soil."
Peter blinked and then bellowed. "Finally let them open?"
She sighed. "Eventually. After seven layers of ethical approval, a Vibranium safety assessment and two ancient blessings."
"From priests?"
"From Okoye," she said flatly. "She threatened to decapitate the Ronald McDonald statue."
" Well, considering Ronald is the fictional clown character with the highest kill count, seems appropriate."
The Promenade
The group strolled through Birnin Zana's main avenue. Shuri walked alongside Gwen and May while Peter and Ben trailed behind, Ben marveling at the fusion of advanced tech and traditional artistry.
Holographic panther statues shimmered over cafés, while vibranium themed light rail pods glided silently above.
Ben paused in front of a Starbucks built inside a curved obsidian building. "I can't believe it. A coffee shop inside a reactor grid."
Aunt May laughed. "Careful, you might get an espresso that opens a wormhole."
Inside, the barista smiled politely. "Would you like to try our Vibranium Roast? Enhanced with micronized resonance particles for extended alertness!"
Ben blinked. "You're saying this'll keep me awake for days?"
The barista nodded proudly.
He turned to May. "Honey, I'll take two."
Cultural Exhibition Hall
Captain Stacy found himself surprisingly quiet as they entered the Royal Museum. Holograms of past kings and ancient Wakandan inventions lined the corridors.
He stopped before a massive limestone sculpture showing Wakanda's rise from isolation to global stage. "This is history in motion. Reminds me of trips to the Natural History Museum."
Peter nodded. "It's what progress looks like when people protect knowledge instead of hoarding it."
Stacy glanced at him, thoughtful. "You're building something like this too, aren't you? A legacy."
Peter smiled softly. "Trying to make sure the next generation doesn't have to fight for a future."
The Captain's expression softened, almost imperceptibly. "You remind me of Ben sometimes."
Peter chuckled. "That's the nicest thing anyone's said to me all week."
The Food Court (Later)
It was inevitable.
Aunt May, Gwen, and Shuri led the charge into the newly opened McPanther's. Complete with tribal décor, neon accents and waiters wearing vibranium-thread aprons.
Gwen pointed excitedly at the menu. "They have a Vibranium Meal! It comes with a glowing soda!"
Ben frowned. "Glowing? That can't be good for your liver."
Peter grinned. "Relax. It's just photoluminescent enzymes."
Shuri snorted. "Spoken like a man who definitely helped them invent it."
As they ate, a nearby holographic commercial began looping.
"Taste the strength of the Panther! McPanther's!!! For the warrior in all of us!"
Gwen burst into laughter so hard she nearly spilled her soda.
Captain Stacy muttered, "If anyone tells me this was part of the mission, I'm retiring again."
Evening Over the City
As the sun set, the group stood on the sky terrace overlooking the golden skyline. Hovercars shimmered in the distance, and soft Wakandan music echoed through the streets.
Aunt May leaned on Ben's arm. "It's beautiful. I never thought I'd see the world open up like this."
Ben smiled. "The world's changing faster than anyone can keep up. But maybe… it's changing for the better."
Peter and Gwen stood nearby, quietly watching the lights flicker across the city.
Gwen said softly, "You realize this all started because of you, right?"
Peter shook his head. "No. It started because people decided to stop hiding. I just gave them the poke with the appropriate amount of force."
Shuri joined them, smirking. "And the tax forms. Don't forget those."
Everyone laughed as the city below pulsed with life — old and new, tradition and progress, blending into one shining future.
