Chapter 269: An Apology Isn't Enough—Add Compensation
"Hmph, looking to die?"
The red-robed young woman had clearly taken note of Xiao Yuan and the others refusing to move aside. With a cold snort, she grabbed her whip. In a sharp crack that tore through the air, a red blur lashed out directly at Xiao Yuan's head.
Xiao Yuan remained expressionless. With a casual wave of his hand, the whip was caught midair. A light tug—
"Ah!"
A sharp cry rang out as the immense force from the whip flung the red-robed girl off her horse. She landed on her butt with an unceremonious thud.
"You bastard! You actually dare lay hands on me?!"
Her rear hitting the cold, filthy ground turned her expression into one of fury. Screaming at Xiao Yuan, she looked like a raging tigress.
"Mindless fool. Just a little lesson in your family's stead," Xiao Yuan said flatly, glancing at her without much interest.
He could tell she was somewhat mentally challenged. Two hidden guards nearby were clearly strong, but to him, they were little more than trash.
"What the hell are you?! You think you have the right to teach me?!" Her anger boiled over. Her voice became shrill and piercing. "Uncle Hua! Uncle Liu! Kill this bastard!"
The moment her shriek fell, two elderly figures shot forward with a burst of wind, landing in front of Xiao Yuan's group.
One with gray hair, one with white, both looked aged but powerful. Their auras hovered between five and six-star Dou Huang—decent strength.
"This friend, our young lady may be a bit unruly, but she is still a girl. Isn't your treatment of her a bit excessive?" the gray-haired elder said, frowning slightly.
With their sharp eyes, they could tell this group was strong—perhaps even stronger than themselves—so he didn't speak too aggressively.
"Heh. That's why she's still breathing. Had she been older, or a man, you'd be scraping what's left of her off the street instead of standing here talking crap with me."
Xiao Yuan raised his eyes and gave a mocking smirk.
In the Black-Corner Region, he'd have killed her without a second thought.
By now, a crowd had gathered. Recognizing the girl, most shook their heads in resignation. She was infamous in Tianya City—a spoiled little devil. Most just considered anyone who crossed her to be unlucky. They looked at Xiao Yuan with sympathetic eyes, thinking he'd gotten himself into trouble.
The two elders' faces darkened at Xiao Yuan's icy words. This red-robed girl was the most pampered granddaughter of their clan's patriarch. Few dared speak to her like this.
"You bastard! Acting so arrogantly even in Tianya City? You dare strike me? My grandfather won't spare you! Kneel and apologize, now!"
The girl's tantrum grew even more unhinged, her voice shrieking in rage.
But before her words were even finished, a ghost-like figure appeared in front of her and—slap!
"Pa!"
The crisp sound echoed across the street. The crowd collectively shivered in delight.
The red-robed girl stood frozen, face tilted from the blow. A distinct five-finger mark bloomed across her cheek, a trickle of blood at the corner of her lips. Her eyes filled with disbelief. Someone actually dared slap her?!
"You say one more word—if he doesn't kill you, I will."
A cold, murderous voice drifted into her ears. She looked up and found herself staring into the beautiful but terrifying face of Little Doctor Immortal. The killing intent in her eyes wasn't fake—and it made the red-robed girl tremble.
"How dare you?!"
The two elderly guards, stunned by the slap, instantly launched themselves at Little Doctor Immortal.
But before they got close, a cyan-robed figure flashed past. Two sword beams flew out from her sleeves.
Shnk!
With chilling precision, the blades sliced through flesh. The two elders were knocked back, blood dripping from their shredded hands—white bone exposed beneath. Yet the woman who struck, Yun Yun, hadn't moved an inch.
"So arrogant, and trying to gang up on her two-on-one? You think we're easy targets?"
Yun Yun's voice carried a surge of Dou Qi and suppressed fury. Over time, she and Little Doctor Immortal had grown close. Their personalities were compatible—elegant and reserved—and they had no jealousy between them.
She intervened not because Little Doctor Immortal needed help, but to show she stood with her.
"Peak Dou Huang!"
Seeing Yun Yun's strength, the two elders dared not move. Their hearts sank. The red-robed devil girl had finally kicked the wrong hornet's nest. This wasn't some passing noble—these were true monsters.
"This friend," the gray-haired elder tried again, forcing a smile, "our young lady is from the Luo Clan. I hope you'll let this matter go."
"Luo Clan?" Yun Yun frowned. She glanced at Xiao Yuan, waiting for him to decide.
But before he could speak—
"You… you dare hit me?!"
The red-robed girl had finally snapped out of her daze. Touching the burning welt on her face, her eyes filled with venom. She pulled out a jade talisman and shattered it.
"Slut! My grandfather won't spare you! When I'm done with you, I'll slice off your fingers one by one!"
Little Doctor Immortal looked at her coldly.
"If she speaks again, hit her again. A creature this vile is a walking disaster," Xiao Yuan's flat voice said from the side.
Little Doctor Immortal smiled slightly—and pa! slapped her again.
Just then, a beam of gray light shot in from the city's center. An old man in blue robes appeared above the street, his aura sweeping over the area like a tidal wave.
His voice was deep and oppressive.
"You people sure are bold, showing no respect for my Luo Clan!"
Gasps erupted below.
"It's the Luo Clan's patriarch?!"
"He actually came? Looks like Luo Xiaoyao really is his favorite."
"Looks like we're in for a show…"
The two elders immediately bowed in greeting.
But in their hearts, they were weeping. That girl had shattered the talisman the patriarch gave her—one meant to be used only in life-or-death emergencies. Now he was here… and it was over a petty street squabble.
Hovering in midair, the old man's expression was grim. He glanced at his granddaughter's swollen face. Seeing the injury, he was relieved she was alive—but fury still burned in his eyes.
"You people are unfamiliar. Outsiders?" he said coldly.
"Grandfather! They bullied me! You have to make them pay!" Luo Xiaoyao wailed, tears streaming as she pointed at Xiao Yuan.
"You want to lose that finger?" Little Doctor Immortal said flatly.
Terrified, Luo Xiaoyao yanked her hand back. That cold, emotionless gaze had left a mark.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
More wind sounds—ten or so figures appeared on nearby rooftops. They all bowed to the patriarch, then stared at the scene. One barked out, "You dare attack a Luo Clan member? You have guts!"
Xiao Yuan didn't flinch.
Things were developing as expected. He had no intention of stirring up trouble—but if someone insisted on kicking down his door, he wasn't going to just smile.
Even if that Luo patriarch was a Five-Star Dou Zong, he was no threat.
Not with Elder Ye Zhong beside him. Not with his own power in full bloom. And certainly not with the spirit of Tianhuo Zun Zhe—recovered to the level of an Eight-Star Dou Zong—in his ring.
He could level Tianya City if he wanted.
"A brat like her reflects poorly on you elders," Ye Zhong finally said, stepping forward. His aura surged to match the Luo patriarch's, shaking the street with invisible pressure.
"Heh. Let's see what your Luo Clan can do if I don't give a damn," Xiao Yuan added, releasing his Dou Zong aura. Though only Two-Star, his strength and presence rivaled that of seasoned experts.
Behind him, Xiao Yan, Little Doctor Immortal, Yun Yun, and Zi Yan all released Dou Huang-level pressure.
"Two Dou Zongs. Four Dou Huangs?!"
The street exploded in whispers.
All eyes turned to Xiao Yuan.
A Dou Zong… so young?
Even Luo Xiaoyao paled. She realized the depth of her mistake. Her grandfather could barely manage a single Dou Zong-level enemy—now there were two.
The Luo patriarch's face twisted. Ye Zhong was clearly stronger than him. The white-clothed youth might only be a Two-Star Dou Zong—but his aura, composure, and age hinted at monstrous potential.
Such people always had terrifying backgrounds. They could not be trifled with.
"Damn it… when did such monsters arrive in Tianya City? That girl has gone too far this time. If I don't handle this right, it could be a catastrophe."
He turned, glaring at Luo Xiaoyao, then exhaled and bowed slightly.
"This matter was indeed my granddaughter's fault. I, Luo Cheng, offer my sincerest apologies."
"An apology… isn't enough."
Xiao Yuan vanished. In the blink of an eye, he stood beside Luo Xiaoyao, one pale hand closing around her throat.
"I'm very unhappy. Tell me, Luo patriarch—what value does this girl have to you? And what value does a Dou Zong's dignity hold?"
Xiao Yuan's smile was wide, exposing a row of gleaming white teeth.
