Rachel was staying at Metropolis Hospital, looking after her mother.
Her mother had been trapped in the Fairytale Queen's "Fairytale Kingdom" for some time; although she wasn't physically harmed, the severe damage to her mental energy had caused her to fall into a coma from mental exhaustion, which was why she was sent to the hospital.
While Rachel was taking care of her mother in the ward, she looked down at the Black Magic book in her hands.
The magic book, which she had secretly taken from Eric, had sparked a strong interest in her, and she often took it out to study in her free time.
Although Zatanna had taught her a lot of magic-related knowledge before, she still preferred this kind of magic that exuded a dark aura.
Perhaps her fascination with such an existence stemmed from reading Eric's "cthulhu" since childhood.
While she was reading the book, the door to the ward suddenly opened.
Rachel looked up at the person who entered and saw her brother, Clark, whom she hadn't seen in a long time.
"Clark!"
Rachel exclaimed Clark's name in surprise.
Clark, looking a bit tired, smiled at Rachel, walked to his mother's side, and looked at his still comatose mother.
"Is Mom okay?"
He asked Rachel.
"Mom's fine; she woke up a little while ago to eat something and just fell back asleep now."
Rachel told Clark.
"Is that so?"
Clark nodded.
"Brother Clark, where did you go before? Why didn't you come back?"
Rachel put down her book and asked Clark.
"A place where I could calm down, Rachel."
Clark walked over and stroked Rachel's hair, "After all, a lot has happened in such a short time. I need to calm down, and not just me; many people need to calm down."
"But why are you against Brother Eric?"
Rachel asked, puzzled.
"I just hope he doesn't go down the wrong path. Eric has changed; ever since father passed away, his heart has changed, and he has become more disappointed with this world. If a person shifts from one emotion to another extreme, it means that many actions within that shift are not his true intention."
Clark took off his black-rimmed glasses and told Rachel.
"I don't understand!"
Rachel indicated that she couldn't comprehend Clark's overly profound words.
"Never mind."
Clark saw that Rachel didn't seem very concerned and decided not to say more.
He looked at Martha, who was lying on the bed, and said to Rachel, "I'm going to take Mom out of Metropolis temporarily, Rachel. Do you want to come with me?"
"Why do we have to leave here?"
Rachel asked, somewhat confused, after hearing Clark's statement.
She didn't think there was any need for Martha and herself to leave.
"Eric needs to reflect on his current actions now; he's no longer himself. For Mom's and your safety, it's necessary for you to leave here."
Clark told Rachel.
After hearing Clark's words, Rachel lowered her head and fell silent.
After a while, she looked up, her eyes gleaming with a light absolutely not typical for her age, and said to Clark, "Clark, I won't let you take Mom away."
"?"
Clark looked at Rachel with astonishment.
"You always say Eric is wrong, but why are you always right? I don't understand what a wrong path or a right path is, but I know that no matter what happens, Brother Eric always considers his family first. If Dad hadn't left us, Brother Eric wouldn't be like this now."
Rachel suddenly seemed a little unfamiliar in Clark's eyes.
She didn't notice Clark's gaze and continued, "I remember Mom saying that when you, Clark, wore the red kryptonite ring, you became a very bad person, and it was Brother Eric who pulled you back from that bad state."
"If you think Brother Eric is wrong, why don't you correct and save him like Brother Eric did for you before, instead of choosing to escape and leave here? Taking Mom and me away from here?"
"Or is it because you, Clark, are a selfish person? You've never considered others! You haven't truly considered Mom and me. Mom said Eric is a wounded fawn, and no matter what he does because of his injury, she won't give up on him. And neither will I, even if the world is destroyed, I won't."
Black energy accumulated in Rachel's hands as she spoke words unbefitting her age.
"I won't let you take Mom away!"
As her firm words left her mouth, the black shadow in her hand fiercely struck Clark.
Clark, standing by the window, was hit in the chest, let out a muffled grunt, and was immediately sent flying backward by the impact.
Crash!
Glass shattered, and Clark's body flew uncontrollably backward through the air.
Rachel closed her eyes, and black marks appeared around her eye sockets, extending outward.
Opening her eyes, Rachel's eyes had turned completely black.
Boundless black mist emanated from her body, quickly engulfing her.
The black mist surrounded her body, causing her to float in the air.
Glancing at Clark outside, Rachel suddenly flew out the window.
Whoosh!
Her speed became a shooting star; Rachel's body, like a soaring raven with outstretched wings, flew to meet Clark.
Bang!
Her fist struck directly at Clark's chest.
Clark was hit in the chest, tumbling backward through the air.
Rachel continued to move forward without stopping, the shadows enveloping her entire body covering her lower half, forming a robe.
"Hooh!"
Rachel roared, unleashing the energy formed by her magic from her hands toward her opponent.
Clark, at this moment, reacted to Rachel's sudden burst of power, raising his arms in front of his chest, blocking Rachel's sudden attack.
Seeing that her projected energy had no effect, Rachel gritted her teeth, suspended in the air, and began to chant a magic spell.
"Azarath."
