"A dragon horn?" As Lynd saw the enormous horn, an object immediately came to his mind.
The horn was nearly two meters long, its surface covered in patterns of red-gold and Valyrian black steel. These patterns bore numerous Valyrian runes, which, like Dragon Runes, contained powerful magic. These runes didn't appear to be carved; they seemed to have grown out of the red-gold and black steel, making the horn's surface smooth as a mirror, even reflecting an image, despite being covered in runes.
"Don't dragon horns harm the person who blows them? Why were even those who heard the horn scorched dry?" Lynd couldn't help but feel confused as he recalled information about the dragon horn.
He picked up the dragon horn, then flipped over the corpse lying on the altar to examine its face.
"A Warlock of Qarth?" Seeing the blue skin, lips, and fingernails, Lynd immediately recognized that the deceased was likely a Warlock from Qarth.
Observing the scene before him, Lynd quickly considered a possibility: Gillian Lannister had come to Valyria to explore, hiring slaves along the way, and a Warlock from Qarth had voluntarily joined them.
Afterward, they successfully reached the Valyria, delving into the city center. Later, for unknown reasons, the Warlock from Qarth blew the dragon horn. Gillian Lannister and others tried to stop him, but it was too late. The ultimate result was that the person who blew the horn was scorched dry, and those who heard the horn's sound were also scorched dry.
Lynd didn't know if his guess was correct, but even if it wasn't, it didn't matter much. For him, the deceased were not important; the dragon horn was. At least, judging by the magical fluctuations Lynd observed with his special vision, the magic contained within this dragon horn was no less powerful than that of his fallen knight armor; it was definitely an extremely potent magical item.
Having obtained this dragon horn, Lynd felt his trip was worthwhile and saw no need to stay longer, so he prepared to leave. However, as he passed Gillian Lannister's corpse, he noticed something seemingly pressed beneath it. Judging by Gillian Lannister's actions before death, this item was extremely important, so much so that Gillian Lannister wanted to protect it until his dying breath.
With curiosity, Lynd moved Gillian Lannister's corpse, revealing the item pressed beneath.
"A Valyrian steel sword?" Lynd looked at the obvious Valyrian steel patterns on the greatsword before him, then his gaze shifted to the golden lion head decoration on the hilt. He couldn't help but speculate, "Could this be Lannister's brightroar?"
At this point, Lynd also remembered Gillian Lannister's main reason for coming to Essos: to retrieve the lost ancestral sword, brightroar. Now it seemed he had indeed found it.
Lynd picked up the Greatsword and examined it. This Greatsword was longer and thicker than Lynd's Lost Knights Greatsword, though the hilt was about the same length. An ordinary person would likely need to wield it with both hands. This was probably the largest Valyrian steel sword Lynd had ever seen.
Lynd had no intention of keeping this brightroar for himself. Instead, he planned to return it to Lannister when he found an opportunity. Although Valyrian steel remained precious, especially after Lynd mentioned that Valyrian steel could kill Others, its price on the market had already reached exorbitant levels, becoming priceless.
However, ever since Lynd became capable of forging magical metals himself, Valyrian steel's utility to him had diminished. Even though the magical metals he forged couldn't compare to Valyrian steel in hardness and weight, their capacity for magical runes was similar, and magical metals could be mass-produced.
Moreover, he had now found a potentially useful magical material, and one that could be harvested sustainably, further diminishing Valyrian steel's importance in his mind.
Rather than letting this brightroar go to waste in his hands, it would be better to exchange it for something with Lannister.
Lynd slung the brightroar Greatsword behind his back, hooking it onto the clasp originally used for his hand-and-a-half sword. Although it wasn't a perfect fit, it could be placed there adequately without impeding his movements. Then, carrying the dragon horn, he left the temple.
On the way back, Lynd suddenly sensed that Deltos's emotions had become extremely agitated and furious, as if it had encountered an attack. Simultaneously, a burst of lightning and thunder suddenly erupted from the dark outskirts of the city in the distance, indicating that Deltos was likely battling something.
Lynd didn't hesitate to expend Rune Power. He immediately activated the Storm Dragon Rune, soaring into the air and flying with all his might towards the direction of the flashing lightning.
It had taken Lynd over half an hour to arrive, but only a few minutes to return.
Deltos had already flown into the sky, its lightning freely unleashed, tearing apart the clouds filled with poisonous smoke and volcanic ash. Rays of sunlight, after hundreds of years, once again fell upon Valyria. And with the light of the sun, Lynd clearly saw what was battling Deltos.
"Nessario?" At first glance, a famous character from a game in Lynd's previous life came to mind, because the giant dragon battling Deltos looked so similar.
The giant dragon's chest emanated a lava glow, illuminating its ribs. Its body was covered in cracks, from which drops of lava emerged, falling into the air and turning into poisonous smoke. Inside its open dragon mouth, a ball of lava could be seen, constantly spewing flames. The dragon's eyes also glowed with the light of lava balls, and even the blood vessels on its wings flowed with lava. Rather than calling it a giant dragon, Lava Dragon seemed a more fitting term for this monster.
