Chapter 408 - Chapter 408: Batman VS Logan

Logan didn't waste any time. The moment he decided that "Peter Parker wasn't Peter Parker," he launched a ferocious attack.

And there was no way Batman could tell him the truth about his transmigration.

Facing Logan, who lunged at him like a wild wolverine, Batman slammed one foot down heavily, crushing the already solid ground into a shallow, compacted crater.

Pulling his right fist back, his entire body became like a drawn bow, his fist a coiled arrow.

The instant Logan reached him, Batman struck with blinding speed, a counter-punch sending Logan flying backward.

Thud!

Logan hit the ground hard but scrambled back to his feet instantly.

A punch like that from Batman would have shattered an ordinary man's bones, but Logan seemed entirely unfazed.

In fact, Batman felt as if he had struck a thick steel plate; the shocking density of Logan's bones sent a sharp jolt of pain back through his own knuckles.

"I knew it," Logan said, standing a short distance away. He lowered his center of gravity, breathing heavily. "You're definitely not Richard's son. He and his wife were ordinary people—there's no way they could have had a child with the X-Gene."

His heavy breathing wasn't from exhaustion; he was fueling his rage and gathering strength.

"The X-Gene?" Batman noted the unfamiliar term, processing it in a split second.

Right then, Logan clenched his fists and raised them before him. With a metallic shink, razor-sharp claws slid out from between his knuckles, each over a foot long.

The six metal claws crossed into an "X" in front of Logan's face. As the cold steel gleamed, Batman's dormant Spider-Sense suddenly flared to life, screaming with frantic warnings.

"Nice disguise, but I know it's you, Raven," Logan said, utterly convinced that Batman was the shape-shifter.

He issued a final warning:

"Drop the act, change back, and tell me where you hid Peter."

Batman didn't back down an inch. "First, tell me exactly how you found Aunt May's house. Who gave you that information?"

Logan shook his head, refusing to say another word.

He dropped lower and lower into his stance. But just as he was about to spring forward, a violent whistling tore through the sky. A pitch-black object was hurtling down at terminal velocity, aiming straight for Logan.

Simultaneously, Batman shifted his weight and lunged toward Logan.

Batman's momentum was just as formidable, but Logan had no intention of trading blows while an unidentified object dropped on his head.

Darting away with incredible speed, Logan covered a dozen meters in the blink of an eye. He stopped, looking back warily at the spot he had just occupied.

Dust billowed wildly where the object had slammed into the earth. Through the haze, Logan could vaguely make out a metal pod about two meters tall, shaped somewhere between an oval and a rectangle.

Logan frowned, glancing up at the sky. He caught a fleeting glimpse of an oddly shaped aircraft darting through the clouds, vanishing from sight in an instant.

It was obvious that the metal drop pod had been deployed from that vehicle.

Logan held his ground, twitching his nose to catch the scents drifting through the air. His frown deepened.

A few seconds later, the dust settled.

With a resounding clang, the metal pod was backhanded away, sending it rolling. Standing in its place, silently facing Logan, was a figure clad in dark blue armor—so dark it was practically black.

It was still Peter Parker's body, but compared to the young man in the plaid shirt and overcoat from moments ago, he now resembled a monstrous bat. The sharp, pointed ears of his cowl and the massive, menacing dark-gray bat emblem across his chest made that abundantly clear.

His eyes, glowing a cold white with a faint purple hue, locked onto Logan with an icy stare that gave the mutant the eerie sensation of being targeted by an apex predator.

Despite the imminent danger of an attack, Logan paused in confusion.

"You're not Raven... Who the hell are you? I can smell your scent—you are definitely not Peter Parker."

"Classified."

This time, Batman went on the offensive. Clad in his Gargoyle Suit, he flicked his wrist, shooting a strand of pitch-black webbing that bound Logan's legs. With a powerful yank of his arm, Batman launched himself forward, delivering a flying kick.

The webbing that Peter Parker had developed before Batman's transmigration was incredibly effective—so much so that Batman hadn't felt the need to stubbornly swap it out for his traditional grapnel gun.

Having been upgraded multiple times through Batman's encounters with Squid-Man, Anti-Venom, and various Gamma monsters, the webbing was now unimaginably durable.

But Logan just grinned savagely and slashed his claws.

Snap!

Like a taut piano wire snapping, the webbing—a single strand of which could hold several tons—was effortlessly sliced through.

Batman noticed that Logan hadn't even put much force into the swing; he had relied entirely on the sheer sharpness of his claws.

Claws sharp enough to slice through my webbing without any effort? Batman thought, his eyes narrowing at Logan's hands.

Despite his observation, Batman didn't slow down for a second.

With his webbing severed, he seamlessly shifted his tactics.

Flexing his forearms, six sharp, swept-back serrated blades snapped out from the gauntlets of his Gargoyle Suit.

Faint, nearly invisible ripples of purple energy pulsed across the surface of his blue-black armor as Batman lunged at Logan once more.

Logan didn't hesitate either. He scraped his six claws together, showering the pitch-black night with sparks, and charged head-on to meet Batman.

Clang!

Metal clashed against metal with a sharp ring, but the sound was instantly drowned out by a thunderous boom of pure kinetic impact.

Catching Logan's claws between his gauntlet blades with one hand, Batman unleashed a lightning-fast punch with the other.

Knowing from their first exchange that Logan's physical durability far exceeded that of a normal human, Batman put nearly two tons of force into this strike.

Yet even with enough force to flip a car and send an ordinary man flying into the distance, Batman failed to overwhelm him.

Logan's clawed arm was like a solid brick wall, absorbing the two-ton impact completely, and he even had the leverage to try and shove Batman back.

The deafening boom was the shockwave of their limbs colliding.

While Batman held a slight edge in raw positioning, Logan managed to seize a critical advantage.

With a subtle twist of his wrists, Logan effortlessly sheared off the retractable Vibranium blades extending from Batman's gauntlets.

Vibranium is one of the hardest metals on Earth... The data Batman had compiled previously flashed through his mind.

Instinctively, he began to suspect the nature of Logan's claws. Could it be Adamantium?

Only Adamantium—a metal whose chemical formula, composition, hardness, and density Batman had yet to fully analyze—could snap Vibranium blades with such ease.

He activated the anatomical scanning function of the Gargoyle Suit. To his astonishment, the readout revealed that it wasn't just Logan's six claws—every single bone in the man's entire skeletal system was composed of metal.
