There was a love story between a Dragon and a Mermaid which lead to a baby, said baby was then named Iris. During the mermaids pregnancy the Dragon was called back to his home for an emergency which lead to the mermaid giving birth without the Dragon. When the Dragon finally came back the Mermaid was gone, only leaving a note for the Dragon.
When the Mermaid went back home she raised her child (Iris) until he turned two. After his second birthday Iris was kidnapped and lost at sea and never saw his family again. The Mermaid contacted the Dragon and begged him to help her find her child, the Dragon agreed and they began their search.
Iris who was kidnapped was left to die by the sea side on the sea shore, were Calliope and her brother found his dead body.

A young thirteen year old was walking hand in hand with his little sister, "brother, brother look!" she said with great enthusiasm, "Something's over there! Let's go take a look" as those words were said she ran off in the direction she pointed.
"Calliope! Slow down, don't run too fast or you might trip" said the young boy.
As if jinxing her, Calliope tripped just as her brother said, "Lukas is a meanie, you jinxed your own little sister~" Calliope said while pretending to cry.
"Alright, I'm sorry that I'm a meanie, now let's go see what you've found"
Laying in the sand a you child around the ages of two was "sleeping" peacefully, the child's cheeks were flushed with a red color, the child has probably been crying because tears was still falling off his eyelashes.
"Brother should we wake him?" Calliope asked with a whisper.
Lukas looked at the child for a minute before saying, "Leave him alone, his parents might come for him soon" in a cold voice.
As those words were said the child's eyes fluttered open, big water eyes stared at both calliope and Lukas, Calliope melted and took the child in her little hands.
When she touched him he flinched and tried to move back, his eyes showed fair and tears started to fall even more, "It's ok, It's okay, I won't hurt you" Calliope comforted with a very soft voice as she hugged the poor child.
"Do you know where your parents is?" Calliope asked.
The child looked up at Calliope and said in a almost inaudible voice, "m-mommy" as he pointed in the direction of the sea.
Only at this moment did Calliope and Lukas notice the shiny crystal blue tail on the young ones lower half, 'A MERMAID!!!' Calliope's eyes were shining literal diamonds, 'It's a fricken MERMAIDE! OMG!'
Calliope tried to restrain her excitement and asked, "do you know how we can find your mom?"
The child shook his head and answered, "n-no, d-dey took me away fwom her" his voice trembling.
Calliope's excitement turned to anger, she looked at her brother and said, "brother, we have to help him! we can't just leave him here!" in a determined voice.
Lucas looked hesitant, he looked between his sister and the unknown merchild before reluctantly agreeing, "fine," he said with a sigh.
"What's your name?" Calliope asked.
"Iwish"
"I wish?"
The child shook his head "Iwrish"
"Irish?"
The child shook his head again, "Iwi-" he gave up trying to communicate his words, instead he spelled out his name in the sand (pls ignore the fact that a 2 year old in no way can do any of this).
"Iris?"
Iris finally nodded his head.
"what a nice name" Calliope said with a beautiful and bright smile.
Iris's cheek flushed, "twank you" he said as he covered his face with his blue fingers.
"Can you transform?" Lukas asked the young boy.
Iris shook his head, he really didn't know.
Lukas sighed and picked up Iris into his arms, "let's go Calliope" Lukas waited until Calliope was in front of him before walking.
Iris who was in Lukas's arms feigned sleeping as he started to communicate with his system.
