He picked up the phone, and from the other end came the voice of his Fifth Uncle asking, "Where's Gu Yuan?"
"What Gu Yuan?" Quan Jin didn't immediately catch on.
Quan Yin: "Your ex-wife, Gu Yuan."
Only then did Quan Jin react, suddenly remembering what he was supposed to do today.
He was supposed to pick up his ex-wife from the airport, but having seen his ex-girlfriend, he got completely sidetracked and forgot all about bringing his ex-wife back to the family residence.
When faced with his Fifth Uncle's questioning, Quan Jin felt guilty, "I had something come up and couldn't go to the airport. Hasn't she arrived at the family residence yet?"
There were a few seconds of silence from Quan Yin on the other side of the phone.
A few seconds later, he asked, "Where are you? Who are you with?"
Quan Jin replied, "I'm out dealing with something, having a meal with a friend."
Quan Yin: "Have you eaten yet?"
"Yes, how about you, Uncle?" Quan Jin courteously inquired.
