Chapter 278 - Chapter 278: Katakuri

The sudden sound of a door swinging open instantly drew everyone's attention. They turned around and saw a man covered in bandages stepping out from the Straw Hat Pirates' cabin. It was the samurai from Wano Country, and his face was full of determination as he spoke.

"We must go to Zou!" he declared.

Luffy and his crew exchanged confused looks, having never heard of such a place. However, Trafalgar Law was different. His eyes narrowed as he processed the request.

"Zou?" Law asked, his voice low. "Are you talking about the legendary island that is said to exist on the back of a massive, ancient elephant? The place that drifts across the sea and serves as the home of the Mink Tribe?"

"An elephant? A Mink Tribe!" Luffy's eyes lit up with excitement at the mere mention of something so mysterious. "What is a Mink, exactly?"

Law thought for a moment, glancing toward the ship's doctor. "They are similar to Chopper," Law explained. "They are an ancient race of people who look like various furry animals. Since every part of their body is covered in fur, they are known as the Mink Tribe."

"They're just like me!" Chopper shouted, his excitement reaching a boiling point. "I want to go there! Please, Luffy, can we go?"

Chopper's eyes sparkled as he looked at his captain. Luffy, always one for an adventure, didn't need much convincing. He let out a loud laugh and threw his arms up. "Alright! We're going to Zou! Hahaha!"

The crew began to cheer, the prospect of a new adventure lifting their spirits. However, the celebration was cut short when Roronoa Zoro stepped forward with a deep frown on his face.

"Wait a minute, Luffy," Zoro said, his voice serious and grounding. "We still don't know why this samurai wants to go there so badly. What if this turns into another mess like Dressrosa? We might run into someone even more troublesome."

As the unofficial Vice Captain, Zoro's words carried a lot of weight. Sanji and Nico Robin stood beside him, their expressions equally grim. They watched the samurai, Kin'emon, with wary eyes. If it hadn't been for their involvement with him, the grueling battle against Donquixote Doflamingo might never have happened.

Kin'emon felt the pressure of their stares. He hesitated, shifting his weight, but he chose to keep his secrets hidden for a little longer. "I have a friend there," he said simply. "I must find him."

While a simple answer like that might have satisfied Luffy, it wasn't enough for the more observant members of the crew.

"Is that so?" Zoro replied, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword. "In that case, we're sorry, but we have our own plans. We can't go with you if you aren't going to be honest."

Kin'emon looked at the pirates before him. Although they had saved him and helped him find his young ward, his deep-seated distrust of pirates made him keep his mouth shut. But just as the tension peaked, a sharp scream echoed from inside the cabin.

"Ahhh!"

The sound made Kin'emon go pale with fear. "Young Master!" he roared, lunging toward the door. "Young Master, I'm coming!"

The title he used caught everyone off guard. "Young Master?" Robin whispered, her mind racing. "He didn't say son."

It was becoming clear that this samurai was hiding a great deal from them. Furthermore, everyone knew that Wano Country was the territory of Kaido, one of the Four Emperors. If helping Kin'emon meant starting a war with the Beasts Pirates, the Straw Hat Pirates weren't ready for that kind of heat. Zoro, Sanji, and Robin shared a silent look and nodded. They wouldn't let Luffy walk into a trap without knowing the full story.

Law, who had been watching the chaos unfold, looked incredibly grim. Unlike the Straw Hats, who had spent two years training in isolation, Law was well-aware of the current power balance on the sea. He knew exactly who lived at the top of the food chain.

"Straw Hat, I know it's not my place to tell you what to do," Law said, his voice heavy with warning. "But the Beasts Pirates and Wano Country are not to be trifled with. We aren't strong enough to provoke them yet. We don't have the qualifications to challenge a Yonko."

The weight of Law's words settled over the deck like a heavy fog. Just then, Kin'emon emerged from the cabin carrying Momonosuke. The little boy looked terrified, clinging to the samurai's clothes.

Robin stepped forward, her voice calm but firm. "Mr. Kin'emon, it seems there is a lack of trust between us. If that's the case, we should part ways at the next island. As pirates, we cannot risk our lives for someone who won't be honest with us."

Kin'emon looked down at Momonosuke and then back at the crew. He knew the truth about what had happened to Wano. He knew that a handful of samurai stood no chance against the overwhelming might of Kaido. He had seen the power of these pirates in Dressrosa and knew they were his only hope. He opened his mouth to finally speak the truth, but he was interrupted.

Usopp, who had been nervously scanning the horizon, suddenly froze. His legs began to shake like jelly, and he stumbled backward, nearly falling over.

"Usopp? What's the matter?" Chopper asked, noticing his friend's strange behavior.

Usopp couldn't find his voice at first. He swallowed hard and pointed a trembling finger toward the distance. "What... what is that?"

Everyone rushed to the railing to look where Usopp was pointing. Far off on the horizon, the sky was turning pitch black. Massive, strangely shaped ships were emerging from the gloom. They were decorated like giant cakes and colorful sweets, but there was nothing sweet about the aura they gave off.

Law's face turned white as a sheet. He recognized those ships instantly. "What is going on? Why are the BIGMOM Pirates here?" he screamed.

The name sent a chill through everyone. Big Mom. One of the Four Emperors.

"One of the Yonko?" Nami whispered, covering her mouth in horror. "Maybe they're just passing by? They don't have to be here for us, right?"

Even as she said it, she knew it wasn't true. Usopp let out another yelp as he looked behind the ship and to the sides. "Luffy! We're surrounded!"

It was true. The Straw Hat Pirates and the Heart Pirates were completely trapped. Ships from Big Mom's fleet had appeared in every direction, cutting off any hope of escape. Even worse, they could feel incredibly powerful presences guarding each point of the compass.

Law's first instinct was to find a way out, but he looked at Luffy and decided to stand his ground. He had made an alliance, and he wouldn't run now.

"Straw Hat, get ready," Law said, his hand gripping the hilt of his nodachi. "This is going to be a real fight."

Luffy, however, wasn't scared. He cracked his knuckles and grinned, a spark of defiance in his eyes. "A Yonko's crew? Then it's worth a big fight! Let's go!"

But Law's tone remained deadly serious. He pointed toward the massive flagship, the Queen Mama Chanter, which was heading straight for them.

"Listen to me, Straw Hat. This enemy is unlike anyone we've fought before. If you have any hidden strength or trump cards, you need to use them now. If you don't, our journey ends right here."

Luffy looked at Law, confused by the intensity in his voice.

"That man on the main ship," Law continued, "is the Vice Captain of the BIGMOM Pirates. He is the second son of a Yonko, a master of Conqueror's Haki, and a man who has trained his Observation Haki so much that he can actually see into the future. That is Charlotte Katakuri!"

High above on the deck of the Queen Mama Chanter, the wind howled through the sails. A tall, imposing figure stood at the prow, looking down at the two small pirate ships. A crimson light flashed in his eyes as he peered into the immediate future.

"I've been waiting for you, Straw Hat," Katakuri said, his voice cold and steady.

The bounty on the head of the man standing before them was a staggering 1,057,000,000, and the pressure of his presence was enough to make the very air feel heavy. The battle for survival had begun.
