Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 – The Storm’s Legacy

Again while my thoughts were racing, Zeus's voice returned, quieter but warmer—almost like that of a grandfather.

"Boy, I can sense your thoughts racing. You wonder why the Divine Emperors didn't intervene in the war."

I nodded subconsciously. "Exactly! If they were stronger than you, why didn't they help?"

"Because they were no longer part of our universe," he said simply. "Once a being ascends to the Divine Emperor realm, they sever their connection with their birth universe and travel the multiverse, seeking the path to the Supreme. They no longer interfere with lesser worlds."

That revelation struck me like a hammer. "So you were alone?"

"We were, but we didn't falter," Zeus said proudly. "The will of the universe itself aided us. It joined the battle, for the Abyss Overlord had defied its laws. Together, we sealed him in a dead world. Yet the price was steep. The Divine Realm fell. Countless worlds vanished."

I could sense the sorrow behind his calm words."So what about this world? My world?"

"This planet lies in a remote dimension, untouched by the original war. That's why your soul was drawn here with my guidance to facilitate your reincarnation with my remaining authority that still existed in the universe which also extended to this world's will. The will of this world is young, but it is a fragment of the universe's will—like a child, which connects both."

Zeus's tone softened further, almost gentle.

"I cannot access its records with your current strength. When your body reaches the laws of the world—around S-rank—you will naturally feel its pulse."

I exhaled slowly, trying to absorb it all. "So the Abyss might come here… and I'm supposed to stop it."

"In time," Zeus said. "For now, you must walk your path. Strengthen your body, refine your mana, and awaken your divinity. Only power can give you freedom."

For a moment, silence filled the room. Then Zeus's voice turned lighter, carrying a faint smile.

"I will guide you when needed. But your life is your own, boy. Power is a tool—it can protect or destroy. The choice will always be yours."

His voice faded, leaving a strange warmth in my chest.

I stared at the ceiling, thoughts swirling like a storm. The words "only power can give freedom" echoed in my mind.

In that moment, I made my decision. If power was the only path to live freely—then I would walk it. No matter how far, no matter how high.

If gods could fall… then I would rise beyond them.
