Su suddenly had a bad feeling, but he had no idea where it was coming from.
"Kevin, Su, are you two really that close?" Elysia asked, her tone carrying a teasing edge that was hard to notice.
She was quite curious to see how the next few people would react.
Su frowned. He could already hear that something was off, but Kevin could not. Kevin nodded and said, "Of course. We're best bros. The kind who can sleep in the same bed."
Even though Su knew what Kevin meant, it was still the sort of thing that could easily make people misunderstand.
The corner of Su's mouth twitched.
Hey, Kevin, don't phrase it in such a misleading way.
MEI's gaze also turned rather meaningful as it moved back and forth between the two of them, putting quite a bit of pressure on Su.
Su frantically shot Kevin meaningful looks, telling him to hurry up and explain things to MEI properly.
"I'm curious," Koji said, completely unwilling to let things die down. "If Su were a girl, would there still be any place for MEI? Kevin, who would you choose?"
Now the pressure was on Kevin.
Although MEI said nothing, the sheer force in her eyes made Kevin feel a chill down his back.
If he answered badly, he was seriously done for.
If Su were a girl...
Kevin imagined a female version of Su in his head, and honestly, his heart skipped a little. Su could cook, Su could do housework... this would practically be the perfect woman.
If the first person he had met had been a female version of Su, then maybe he really would have chosen her, without the slightest hesitation.
"Kevin, your heart wavered just now, didn't it?"
MEI's mouth twitched. She did not know psychology, but from the way Kevin's pupils contracted, she could still make a simple judgment.
She had to admit that Su really did have excellent features. His facial structure was the kind that could pass as either male or female. If he put on women's clothing, most people probably would not be able to tell.
Other than his chest being a bit flat.
Su had also known Kevin longer than she had. If things had really gone the way Koji described, then perhaps there would have been no place for her at all.
"Uh... that..." Kevin's gaze turned guilty.
He really had been a little tempted just now. Even without seeing it in person, just imagining it was already pretty overwhelming.
Su opened his mouth in disbelief. Wait, Kevin, I treat you like a brother. Do you seriously have those kinds of thoughts about me?
Thankfully, Kevin already had a girlfriend. Otherwise, Su really might have had to worry about his own safety.
"This is a girl who looks a lot like Su. Kevin, what do you think?" Koji said as he projected an image of Vita.
Kevin froze instantly. Not to mention it really did look a lot like Su. The resemblance was shockingly strong.
MEI compared Vita and Su, and the similarity really was quite high.
"Su, do you not have any sisters?" MEI asked curiously.
Although she trusted Kevin very much, she still felt a little jealous.
"Definitely not. I don't know this young lady at all," Su said, dumbfounded. That girl's face really did carry traces of his own.
Looking at Vita left him feeling rather conflicted.
"Su, you'd probably look really pretty in women's clothes, wouldn't you?" Elysia said with a smile.
She had always wanted to get Su into women's clothing, but she had never succeeded.
Kevin immediately turned to look at Su, anticipation filling his eyes. He was genuinely curious about what Su would look like dressed as a girl.
Seeing your best bro cross-dress really did sound thrilling.
"I do not have a cross-dressing hobby," Su said, shaking his head at once.
Even if someone told him to jump off the rooftop of the school building, he still would not choose to cross-dress. This was a matter of dignity.
"As the saying goes, there's only zero times and countless times. So, Su, you can at least give it a try."
"Not gonna lie, I'm curious too about what Su would look like in women's clothes," MEI said with a smile.
She was not joking. Anyone would gossip a little over something like this.
"MEI, why are you saying it too? Absolutely not!" Su said speechlessly.
No normal person would ever think of cross-dressing. If someone saw you, no explanation in the world would clear things up.
"You two aren't ordinary people, are you?" Su said, changing the subject.
They absolutely could not stay on the topic of him cross-dressing.
That projection trick Koji had just used already explained quite a few things. The reason they could know people like MEI and the others had to be connected to something unusual.
Su's mind worked extremely well. Without MEI around, he really was Kevin's external brain, and that was not even a joke.
"Will meeting you put Kevin and the others in danger?" Su asked.
His very first question was about his two friends.
Kevin felt warmth in his heart. This was his real bro. Next time, I'm treating you to noodles.
Not just in the fight against the Honkai, but even in ordinary daily life, danger was everywhere.
And in a world that had the Honkai, ordinary people were even more insignificant. Dying someday in a massive Honkai outbreak was the sort of thing no one could necessarily avoid.
Hearing that question, Su fell silent.
Indeed, nothing was absolutely safe.
There were already countless dangers in daily life. No matter how careful you were, sometimes bad luck alone was enough.
"Su, you don't need to worry. They only came this time to make friends with us," Kevin said with a smile.
He could tell that the two of them had no ill intentions at all. They were just a little too fond of messing with people, which left him rather helpless.
"Eat your noodles already. They're about to go soggy," MEI reminded them.
There were still so many noodles left in Su's bowl, and they were already soaking up nearly all the broth.
"Oh, right. Eating."
They had been talking for quite a while. Better eat first.
…
Kevin and the others were all students, so after finishing their meal, they returned to school. They still had classes afterward.
After all, they were not geniuses in the eyes of the teachers like MEI, with the privilege of skipping lectures.
With the level of knowledge MEI possessed now, many teachers were already far below her.
A genius was a genius. That was something ordinary people simply could not reach.
Talent and hard work—if you did not have talent, then no matter how hard you worked, your upper limit was still very low.
"Kevin at this stage is so funny. He's not an ice block yet," Elysia said, clearly very satisfied with today's conversation.
With just a little teasing, Kevin would immediately show an embarrassed expression. Too bad none of it had been recorded, or they could have shown it to Elysian Realm Kevin later.
"Yeah, yeah. Kevin even blushes. That really is a rare sight," Koji said, sharing the same thought.
"And MEI at this point gives off such a bookworm feeling. The pressure of a top student is incredibly obvious."
Koji had not felt that kind of academic pressure from an overachiever in a very long time, especially the sort that weighed heavily on average students.
"A top student?"
"If it's MEI, then she really is a genius. It's just a pity that her body couldn't keep up," Elysia said with a soft sigh.
If MEI had eventually become a Fusion Warrior, then humanity might have had even more possibilities.
After the battle against Finality, MEI died because her body simply could not hold on any longer. No medicine had any effect.
