Chapter 4 - Who made it?

[Tony Stark (Iron Man) POV.]

(Two hours ago)

Tony Stark landed on the Helicarrier looking furious, as he ignored everyone and walked directly to do what he was here for.

To get answers and to start mass production of whatever that mech was…

Stark was furious, angry, and everything in between those emotions. If some country made such a weapon, then he could have helped!

No, scratch that…. He would have made it better, and that thing would have been done ages ago!

Tony Stark stormed into the face of Nick Fury, ignoring Natasha and Captain America on the sides as he spoke sarcastically.

"Alright, since the Christmas present is spoiled, why don't you tell me…. Since when and how long was that mecha a part of the plan!… And why did no one think that telling me about it is a smart idea?"

Fury was silent for a few seconds and, as Tony Stark was about to deliver a very colourful words to his face, a hand held his shoulder on his armour as Tony turned to see Bruce Banner's tired eyes staring at him.

Bruce Banner looked like he hadn't slept in seventy-two hours, which, for Bruce, meant he probably hadn't slept in ninety-six. There were stress lines carved into his face that hadn't been there three weeks ago, and he was looking at Tony with the particular expression he reserved for delivering information he knew Tony wasn't going to accept.

"We don't know."

Tony Stark, not believing his ears, answered with the only word that came to mind…"What?"

His helmet opened, showing his half-burned and bloodshot eyes as he glanced at Fury again….."What do you mean?….. HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW??"

"Tony, calm down."

Natasha, on the side, tried to calm him down, but she stopped talking as his bloodshot gaze landed on her. He turned back to Fury, who was staring at Stark in silence. Tony Stark placed a metallic finger on Fury's chest as he said, "I am not talking about a pocket knife that someone can hide in their pocket! That was a 260-foot, nuclear-powered giant! And you are telling me that you don't know who made it??"

Nick Fury met Stark's gaze as he answered, "That is exactly what I am telling you."

"The World Council is currently an open fire with every member pointing at every other member. Nobody is claiming it. Nobody is admitting to knowing about it." A pause. "Our deep-water sensors flagged it two hours before emergence. Until it breached the surface, — we thought it was another kaiju."

"So yes…. We have no idea who made it."

Nick Fury removed Stark's finger from his chest as he answered with a tone that was cold, with no visible emotion, that promised consequences.

"But I intend to find out. And when I do, whoever is on the other end of that conversation is going to have a very uncomfortable few days."

Tony Stark looked at everyone in the room, seeing them so calm that he almost lost his mind, but he forced it down.

As he sat down…. He forced his thoughts to calm as he stared at everyone.

"So what's the plan?… Because I can tell you that capturing that mech isn't a choice. A quick scan told me that the mech is nuclear, and I am not happy about the odds of it not having a red button."

A voice cut through their conversation. "What about the one that eats Gamma? Can we use the mech to kill it?"

Everyone turned to Bruce Banner as he answered with a small smile, as he said, "That one is the only reason that the Hulk is asleep…. And according to the information we have, that mech is hostile to the Kaijus."

"And if the mech failed and was torn apart, then Tony and I can use its body to understand it and start building them. Of course, this is considering that SHIELD doesn't find where they are made already, which would make things just faster for us."

"And if it kills the kaiju... Then we have the Hulk back."

"The only part I haven't decided yet is how we get the mech to the kaiju, considering that it is all the way in Europe."

Captain America, on the side, answered saying, "We don't have to… That specific Kaiju follows gamma radiation across the planet, so we bait it with gamma."

Tony Stark stared at them for a long minute as he said, "That would take too long, unless you think gamma grows on trees. Because if you have forgotten, that specific kaiju had drained most gamma from the planet. And even if it works, what if the mech decided to go boom? How are we going to get to replicate it if it blows itself up?"

He stood up, moving around the room. "And even if the mech kills it — and that's a meaningful 'if' — we're patching one hole in a hull that's still taking on water. Those portals are still open. How long before the next anti-Hulk variant comes through?"

"Long enough for SHIELD to find what we need to find," Fury said. "Long enough for Banner and you to learn what we need to learn. Long enough to stop fighting the last problem and start preparing for the next one." He let that sit. "That's all we're ever buying, Stark. Time."

Tony stared at the display on the side. At the heat map. At the last known position of a machine he didn't build and couldn't stop thinking about.

"I want everything," he said finally. "Every frame of footage. Every scan reading, ours and anyone else's. Every piece of emergence data from every monitoring station on the planet." He turned. "And I want it yesterday."

[Gipsy Danger (Alexander) MC POV.]

(6 days later)

'I am done!'

Alexander was finally satisfied as he finished the tenth spot of metal collection.

He had decided to distribute them across the coast of what he assumed is America, because obviously, in the Marvel universe, the USA is like the only place that gets attacked.

He could have continued, but he was bored…. Terribly bored. Because as much as the system upgrades were interesting and all, reading about upgrades nonstop was not interesting.

His top three upgrades that had reasonable prices were:

1. Upgrading the repair bots: Either getting more of them, which would increase his recovery speed, or giving them weapons and making himself a small army.

2. A sound unit: Or whatever the system called it…. It would allow him to talk, and the most interesting part is he would be able to choose how his voice sounds…

3. Weapons! There are actually weapons, which he was so happy about! He planned to buy a machine gun once he got the chance, and then introduce the Kaijus to superior firepower.

But that didn't mean that those three were his top choices; they were simply his accurate choices because he was broke.

Some interesting choices were the things from other universes, which surprised him a lot that they even existed in the first place.

For instance, there was The AllSpark…. Yeah, the one and only. But just seeing the amount of zeroes beside it, he gave up with a heavy heart….

'I don't think I even know what that number is.'

Now to the other point annoying him…

His metallic head glanced upward to the surface of the ocean, seeing the ships that had been following him.

They didn't do anything other than tag along, and the only real annoyance was dealing with the Eves wanting to eat them.

He considered sinking them; it would not have taken anything more than a few well-placed plasma bolts, but he was not about to go on a genocide just because he was annoyed.

But what worried him was what his mechanical mind told him….

There were strange energy readings coming from them; it has been there for the last two days.

'They are planning something, that is for sure..' Which was why he didn't allow the Eva bots outside today which they complained about….but he didn't budge

He stopped looking as his sonar detected something big approaching from the deep ocean.

At first, he hoped it was another ship or a submarine, but a single glance told him he was wrong.

He moved his huge form, intending to leave the ocean and take the fight closer to the surface, because the speed of that thing made him believe that fighting it under the ocean is simply a terrible idea.

Two and a half kilometers was how far he was from the surface. He grimaced as he started running, his heavy metallic form accelerating as his heavy steps landed on the ocean floor.

Alexander kept his eyes on the sonar. Facing an aquatic being in the water is terrible, but being attacked from behind by surprise is a death sentence.

Thankfully, the ships seemed to be following him, which was good, a little, since he may be able to help them near the surface. But if the kaiju decided to drag them to the depths, there was little he could theoretically do.

(A few minutes later)

1,000 meters from the shore, the light of the sun started having a little more reach, so that he was able to actually see the ground without using his own light.

Alexander turned his back to the shore as he started retreating backwards with caution, while his hands both transformed into swords as he lowered his center of gravity.

That thing was almost here, and his mechanical mind told him that he wouldn't reach the surface before it reached him, so he kept retreating slowly while being ready.

A few steps to the back passed as the distance to the shore dropped to 900 meters, but Gipsy's metallic form stopped as he saw something green glowing in the darkness of the ocean.

He glanced at the surface, seeing all the ships had bolted to the coast, leaving him alone…. But he noticed some helicopters flying far away from the surface, probably spectators.

'Wow… Very touching.'

A few seconds passed, and he was finally face-to-face with arguably the biggest thing he had seen in his life.

It was at least twenty, or maybe thirty meters taller than Gipsy Danger, with a face that seemed something between a fish, a lizard, and a demon from hell. Its eyes and mouth were all glowing green with strange energy.

It was not just tall; it was huge, with fins starting from atop its head all the way down its back, and a tail that was taller than even its body.

Its hands ended with sharp claws, and its skin was all deep green, filled with radiation.

'Um… I don't want to sound like a coward, but this does not seem like a fair fight to me.'

(Picture)

'I have only one question…. What did they feed him to end up like this? Other kaijus?'

As the Kaiju growled at him while preparing to pounce, Alexander stopped thinking as he let his mechanical part take over. All his emotions felt like background noise—nothing important other than facing the threat.

'Alright…. You know what? Let's dance.'
