Chapter 333: Too Many Tenants
Just as Naruto was debating whether or not to use the Sexy Jutsu, Li Yao turned his gaze back to Kurama and smiled. "How about borrowing Naruto's body for a round? Let me see what the Nine-Tails' power is really like."
"Who exactly are you?"
Kurama didn't answer directly. He remained fixated on how Li Yao could possess Rinnegan ocular chakra despite clearly not having the Rinnegan itself.
"You may be only half of the Nine-Tails, but that should be enough to entertain me."
Li Yao smiled. After all, who wouldn't want to check off the achievement of dominating the Nine-Tails upon arriving in the Naruto world?
Watching the two talk past each other, Naruto looked completely lost. But being ignored like this was truly infuriating—especially when his comrades' lives were uncertain and Sāra was still waiting for him to come back.
"That's enough, you two!"
With a loud shout, Naruto summoned several hundred shadow clones again.
Say what you will—Naruto's mental endurance was astounding. He could endure the mental feedback of hundreds of disappearing shadow clones.
"Big Ball Multi-Rasengan!"
Naruto launched into his usual battle style: if shadow clones don't work, throw in some Rasengan. If that doesn't work, use the Big Rasengan. While clones distract the enemy, try to sneak in and land a solid hit with a Rasengan.
But to be honest, that kind of tactic doesn't work well against people with decent sensory abilities.
In the original story, the fact that Kakuzu was fooled by Naruto's clones and got hit with a Rasenshuriken always struck Li Yao as absurd.
Forget whether Kakuzu had chakra sensory capabilities or not—just the immense chakra pressure from a Rasenshuriken should have been enough. Even without special senses, a battle-hardened fighter like Kakuzu with decades of combat experience should have noticed it.
Even a normal Rasengan, with its highly compressed, rapidly rotating chakra, would be detectable by most.
That's why the proper way to use Rasengan was Minato's style—using overwhelming speed to close in and strike before the enemy could react.
Naruto charging in clumsily and relying on quantity might work on others—but not on Li Yao.
Heh.
Li Yao let out a cold snort, and with a thought, countless black iron chains shot out from him, instantly piercing through every one of Naruto's clones.
And not only that—the chains devoured the clones' chakra. Even when the shadow clones dissipated, their chakra didn't return to the original body.
With that one move, ninety percent of Naruto's chakra was drained on the spot.
Even someone with Naruto's massive reserves was left weakened and depleted.
"What the—?"
"My chakra?!"
Panting heavily, Naruto bent over as if completely drained in one night. His weak and frightened gaze fixed on Li Yao. He didn't understand why the chakra from his clones hadn't come back.
Shadow Clone Jutsu worked by evenly splitting the user's chakra among the clones.
One of its unique features was that when a clone disappeared, any leftover chakra and experience would return to the original.
Naruto had always endured the feedback of countless vanished clones, so he used them recklessly, never fearing chakra depletion—because once the clones vanished, the chakra would return.
In effect, he never lost much chakra overall.
Combined with his naturally large reserves and the Nine-Tails inside him, Naruto never lacked chakra. That's why he always fought with his typical "clone army" strategy.
Unfortunately, he had run into Li Yao—who not only understood the inner workings of the Shadow Clone Jutsu but also possessed chains capable of devouring chakra.
Once the chains with devouring-seal formations pierced the clones, all their chakra was absorbed.
With no chakra returning from the clones—
It was like Naruto had split his chakra a few hundred ways… and lost it all.
Even so, a few hundredths of Naruto's chakra was still not something an average genin could compare to.
That's the power of the Uzumaki clan.
"Damn it!!"
Even with so little chakra left, Naruto didn't give up. He charged at Li Yao again.
That kind of resolve… was casually smacked away by Li Yao with a single palm.
Naruto's consciousness disappeared, and his physical body collapsed. Li Yao kept a hand on his shoulder, ensuring he remained upright and immobile.
With Naruto out of the way, Li Yao floated over to the seal gate, reached out, and began peeling off the sealing talisman, preparing to open the gate.
But as soon as the talisman was halfway removed, a new consciousness suddenly appeared and reached out to stop him.
Clang!
A black iron chain shot out, piercing this new presence and suspending it midair.
"Who are you?"
Minato's expression shifted in shock. Looking at the chain that had sealed his spiritual form, his eyes flashed with a trace of memory before turning serious as he stared at Li Yao.
His last memory was the night of the Nine-Tails' sealing.
But he was certain of one thing: the person before him was not his son Naruto.
"Oh right, I almost forgot you were still living in here."
Li Yao turned around and saw Minato. His eyes lit up as he suddenly remembered that Naruto had inherited a fragment of Minato's consciousness.
And not just Minato's—Kushina's too.
The two had different activation triggers.
Minato's spiritual fragment would appear when the sealing talisman was removed, preventing the Nine-Tails from breaking free.
Kushina's, on the other hand, would trigger when Naruto attempted to tame the Nine-Tails' chakra.
The love of both parents was very real.
At this moment, with the talisman being removed, Minato's spiritual energy had been activated to stop Li Yao from releasing the Nine-Tails.
Unfortunately, Minato's fragment was no match for Li Yao's strength and was easily restrained.
"Minato… so you left a little trap behind."
Seeing the scene unfold, Kurama instantly understood—Minato had left this fragment specifically to stop him from escaping.
That damned human.
Sealing away half his chakra wasn't enough. Even in death, the man wouldn't leave him in peace.
Rip!
Li Yao didn't waste time chatting. Minato's sudden appearance reminded him—Naruto's body had a lot of tenants.
Besides his parents' spiritual remnants and Kurama, there was also a black crow—and that was the one that truly caught Li Yao's eye.
This crow had been implanted by Uchiha Itachi.
One of its eyes held the Mangekyō Sharingan technique Kotoamatsukami—the most powerful genjutsu, capable of permanently altering a person's will.
Itachi had placed Shisui's eye inside Naruto for one purpose: if Sasuke ever turned against Konoha, the crow would emerge the moment Naruto saw his Mangekyō and use Kotoamatsukami to change Sasuke's will to protect the village.
A genjutsu that could rewrite a person's will? Of course Li Yao wanted it—for torturing the Third Hokage, it would be perfect.
Originally, he had worried that his interference with the plot might prevent Shisui from awakening the Kotoamatsukami eye. But now, there was no need to worry.
And not only was Kotoamatsukami here—so was Kamui.
