Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: Something has quietly changed.

Throughout that entire class, Vu Hy barely said a word.

She sat there, resting her chin on her hand, twirling her pen... but her eyes were unfocused.

Occasionally, the teacher called on her, and she answered.

Clearly, she was listening.

But it was as if... she was thinking about something else.

Beside her, Trach Van didn't initiate a conversation either.

He just sat up straight, taking notes.

His handwriting was still neat and beautiful.

It's just... his hand pressure was a little too strong.

Sometimes the pen tip pressed down on the paper harder than usual.

The two of them sat next to each other.

The distance was less than an arm's length.

But it felt so far apart... like two different worlds.

I sat above them, glancing down a few times.

The more I looked, the more something felt wrong.

Normally, these two aren't like this...

The bell rang, signaling the end of class.

"Ring"

After the teacher dismissed the class and left, Vu Hy quickly stood up.

Without waiting.

Without turning back.

She stuffed the books into her bag, zipped it up with a "whoosh," and walked straight out.

Zhai Yun paused for a moment.

The pen stopped in the middle of the page.

A small drop of ink spilled out.

He looked up and watched her.

But didn't call out.

I watched the scene, and only one thought ran through my mind:

"There's a problem, definitely a problem!"

Out in the hallway,

it started to rain.

At first, it was just a few drops.

But in less than a minute,

the rain poured down.

The sound of rain hitting the corrugated iron roof was a dense "plop."

The wind blew strongly, splashing water into the hallway.

Everyone stopped, starting to wait.

Those with umbrellas opened them and ran quickly.

Those without huddled together.

I stood there, sighing.

What perfect timing.

My eyes unconsciously looked ahead.

Wu Xi was standing at the end of the hallway.

No umbrella.

She stood slightly to the side, avoiding the splashing rain.

One hand gripped the strap of her bag.

The other hand was on her phone. At the same time, she glanced at me as if to indicate something. I was a little confused, then I pulled out my phone and saw her message: "Do you have an umbrella? Can I borrow it?"

Seeing that, I replied: "Yes, but only one. Can I borrow it to go home in the rain?"

The other side immediately replied: "So, does Dạ Uyên have one?"

I was a little puzzled but replied: "Yes."

Even though she was texting, she didn't turn around.

She wasn't looking for anyone.

Behind her,

Trạch Vân came out.

He was holding a black umbrella.

He saw her.

His gaze lingered.

Without hesitation,

He walked towards her.

"Shall we go together?"

His voice was still low, carrying a hint of hope under…a suggestion.

Vũ Hy only turned slightly, her expression still cold and indifferent.

"...No need."

The answer came very quickly.

So quickly... it was almost superficial.

Zhai Yun didn't leave.

He didn't say anything more, just his gaze slightly lowered.

He stood there.

Right behind her.

The distance was only half a step.

Only then did she take a step towards somewhere.

I was waiting for Ya Yuan, so I was on my phone when she came up. I looked up to see who it was, and the umbrella in my hand was snatched away. Seeing who took it, I slightly snarled, holding onto the corner of Wu Xi's shirt: "Hey, hey, did I lend it to you before you took it?"

Wu Xi turned around and grinned mischievously: "But Ya Yuan has an umbrella, you and that kid can share it, right?"

Then she blinked her big, round eyes at me: "We're friends, are you going to let me get wet on the way home?"

I looked at him, feeling a slight headache, and said, laughing quickly, "Um, of course." He didn't bother saying anything more and started setting conditions: "I'll treat you to a meal, okay?"

I rubbed my chin thoughtfully, "Hmm... two meals, I like even numbers." He nodded and said "okay."

Then I let go of his hand. He opened his umbrella. Before he left, I asked, "Didn't Zhe Yun have an umbrella? Aren't you going with him?"

He paused for a moment, then replied, "No," and left as if afraid I'd ask another question.

Zhe Yun stood there.

He didn't turn back to look.

But his hands were clenched so tightly that his knuckles turned white.

I stood beside him, watching.

...It's really tense.

I walked over.

"Did something happen between you and him again?"

Zhe Yun glanced at me.

"...Nothing."

That's a lie.

But then, after exchanging a few words with Trach Van, he left, leaving me standing there.

A while later,

Dạ Uyên came out.

He was holding an umbrella.

His clothes were still neat.

His eyes stopped the moment he saw me.

"You didn't bring an umbrella?"

I froze.

Last night's scene,

the kiss,

the words...

"...Uh."

I scratched my head.

"Oh, I forgot it at home."

Dạ Uyên didn't ask any further questions.

He just opened his umbrella.

He moved a little closer.

"So, shall we go together?"

I replied, though my heart was a little anxious: "Um."

I stepped inside.

But almost immediately,

I stepped back.

The distance between us widened.

Rain splashed onto my shoulders.

It was cold.

Dạ Uyên saw it.

His gaze lingered on my wet shoulder.

He didn't say anything.

Just... move the umbrella a little closer to me.

I stepped back again.

Once more.

The atmosphere began to grow heavy.

"...Are you avoiding me?"

Dạ Uyên's voice rang out.

Low.

But clear.

I froze.

The rain was still falling heavily.

But it couldn't drown out that question.

I didn't answer.

I just tightened my grip slightly.

My gaze averted.

Dạ Uyên looked at me.

This time,

he didn't avoid my gaze.

His eyes darkened.

Something... wasn't the same as before.
