Chapter 118 - Chapter 117 The Lioness's Roar Hinata vs. Neji, Destiny is Rewritten!

The door to the infirmary opened with a soft click. Sakura entered with a quick pace, her eyes scanning the room until they found what they were looking for.

"Naruto!"

The blond looked up from where he was. "Sakura chan? What is going on?"

"The next match," she said, approaching with urgency in her voice. "It is Hinata's. She is going to fight against Neji."

Naruto stood up immediately. "Already?"

"They are calling them right now."

From his chair, Might Guy stood up with a dramatic movement, his smile glistening. "Ah! The flame of youth is about to burn brighter than ever! Two members of the prestigious Hyuga clan facing each other on the battlefield!"

Rock Lee jumped from his seat, vibrating with contained emotion. "Neji kun is the greatest genius I have ever known! But Naruto kun's friend has also proven to be strong! This will be a match worthy of remembering!"

Naruto looked toward Tenten, who was still lying in her bed, pale but with a small smile on her lips. Then he turned toward Temari.

The Suna kunoichi had her arms crossed, her posture relaxed against the pillows. She sighed with a hint of amusement. "What are you waiting for? Go support your friend. We will be fine here."

"Are you sure?"

"Naruto," Tenten intervened with a soft voice. "Go. Hinata needs you there more than we need you here."

"Besides," Temari added with a tone that bordered on mocking, "it is not like we can go anywhere. The medic has not discharged us yet."

Naruto nodded, his characteristic smile appearing on his face. "All right. But I will see you later, okay? Ramen for everyone when this is over."

"You promised," Temari said.

Sakura, who had been waiting with growing impatience, finally took Naruto's arm.

"Let's go, Naruto. We do not want to be late."

What are you doing? Inner Sakura screamed inside her head with a hysterical tone. Let go of him! You are acting like a jealous girlfriend!

Sakura felt the heat rise to her cheeks, but she did not let go of her grip.

Wait, wait, wait, Inner Sakura changed her tone abruptly, her words now calculating and territorial. That blonde... Temari... she is pretty. And Naruto was very close to her. Too close. No, no, no. MARK YOUR TERRITORY! Stay exactly where you are! Even closer!

Sakura shook her head with a small movement, dissipating the invasive thoughts. "Shall we go?"

"Yes, yes," Naruto allowed himself to be guided toward the door, turning to wave goodbye. "See you later!"

Guy Sensei and Lee followed them with energetic steps. The infirmary hallway echoed with their footsteps as they hurried toward the arena.

The electronic board had displayed the names: Neji Hyuga vs. Hinata Hyuga.

Naruto and Sakura emerged from one of the side tunnels just as Hinata was standing near the opposite entrance.

"Hinata!" Naruto shouted, running toward her.

The girl looked up, her lavender eyes widening as she saw the blond approaching. Her face was tinted with a soft pink color.

"N Naruto kun..."

Naruto arrived in front of her and, without thinking twice, took both of Hinata's hands in his.

"You are going to do amazing," Naruto told her, with a wide and sincere smile. "You are strong, Hinata. Show them what you are made of."

Hinata's blush deepened. She could feel the warmth of Naruto's hands and the way his thumbs rested gently on her knuckles.

"And after this," Naruto continued with renewed enthusiasm, "we are all going to Ichiraku. You, me, Sakura chan, Kiba, whoever wants to come. We are going to celebrate that you made it this far."

"H Hai..." Hinata could barely articulate the word.

Sakura approached from behind, placing a hand on Hinata's shoulder in a gesture of solidarity. "Naruto is right. You have worked very hard to get here. Just... do your best."

"Thank you, Sakura san," Hinata whispered.

From the stands, Kiba was shouting with Akamaru barking at his side. "Let's go, Hinata! Show them that Team Eight is not left behind!"

Rock Lee, now standing next to Guy Sensei in a different section, also raised his voice. "Hinata san's silent determination is admirable! But Neji kun also deserves my support! May the best one win!"

Guy Sensei nodded with exaggerated solemnity. "That is right, Lee. Both represent the flame of youth at its peak."

Naruto finally let go of Hinata's hands, taking a step back with one last look of encouragement. "Go and win, Hinata."

Hinata nodded with determination. She remembered every training session, every blow, and every word from Kurenai sensei about her growth.

Naruto kun is watching, she thought as she walked toward the center of the arena. I cannot... I will not disappoint him.

Neji Hyuga was already waiting in his position. His posture was perfect, arms crossed over his chest and the expression on his face as cold and impenetrable as ever. His pearly eyes observed Hinata approaching with disdain and analytical interest.

"Hinata sama," his voice said, each syllable loaded with formal respect but void of any genuine warmth.

"Neji niisan," Hinata responded in a low but clear voice.

Hayate Gekko stood between them, his face serious despite the occasional cough that interrupted his breathing. "This is an official match of the Chunin Exam preliminaries. The rules are simple: the match ends when someone surrenders, becomes unconscious, or I stop it. Understood?"

"Hai," both responded in unison.

"Then..." Hayate took a step back, raising his hand. "Begin!"

Neji activated his Byakugan immediately. The veins around his eyes bulged, pulsing with concentrated chakra. His field of vision expanded, covering almost everything around him except for the small blind spot at the base of his neck.

Hinata did the same. Her Byakugan activated with a soft glow. The veins marked her temples and, for a moment, Neji felt something strange.

A chill.

Hinata no longer looked like the shy girl who had been talking to Naruto moments ago. Her posture had changed. Her eyes, normally soft and hesitant, were now focused with an intensity that Neji had not seen in her before.

"I see," Neji murmured in a low voice. "So the rumors were true. You have changed."

"I have trained," Hinata responded with a firm voice. "A lot."

"Training does not change destiny, Hinata sama. A branch house member will always surpass the main house when the latter is weak. That is the natural order of things."

Hinata moved.

Her speed was surprising. The arena floor exploded under her feet as she closed the distance between her and Neji in less than a second. Her right palm extended, aiming directly at her cousin's solar plexus.

Neji reacted instinctively, blocking the blow with his forearm. The impact resonated with a dull thud. Hinata did not stop. Her left hand was already in motion, seeking Neji's shoulder.

He twisted his body, letting the blow pass millimeters from his shirt. He counterattacked with a palm strike aimed at Hinata's side.

She saw it coming. Her Byakugan caught the movement of the chakra concentrating in Neji's palm. She stepped back half a pace; the strike cut through the air where she had been an instant before. The exchange lasted barely three seconds, but both had already evaluated the other.

"Your speed has improved," Neji admitted, sliding to the side with fluid movements. "But speed without technique is useless."

Hinata did not respond. She advanced again, this time with a series of quick strikes. Right palm, left palm, spin, low kick, right palm again.

Neji blocked the first two, dodged the kick with a short jump, and deflected the last strike with a circular movement of his arm. But Hinata was already chaining the next attack.

"Vacuum Palm."

A blast of compressed air shot out from her right palm. Neji barely had time to cross his arms in front of his chest before the shockwave hit him. His feet slid back across the sand, leaving two straight lines.

"So you have learned that technique," Neji said, lowering his arms. "Impressive. But it is still a mid range attack. Against a Hyuga with a full Byakugan, it is predictable."

Hinata did not wait. She lunged forward with renewed determination, her hands moving in Juken attack patterns. Each strike was designed to close a chakra point and damage her opponent's internal system.

Neji began to counterattack in earnest. His hands moved with precision. Every block flowed into a counter; every dodge became an opportunity to strike.

Palm against palm. Forearm against forearm. The sound of their clashes filled the arena.

"Incredible!" Kiba shouted from the stands. "Hinata is holding her own against Neji!"

"It is more than holding her own," Kurenai murmured from her position, her red eyes observing every movement with intensity. "She is pressing him."

In the arena, Neji took a jump back, creating distance. His pearly eyes narrowed as he evaluated the situation.

Her technique has improved drastically. Her speed is at least two levels higher than it was months ago. And her chakra... it seems more controlled.

"It seems you have had a good teacher," Neji said aloud. "But that changes nothing. Destiny is already written, Hinata sama. You were born into the main house, I into the branch house. But natural talent cannot be taught. And I have more."

Hinata finally spoke, her voice clear and without stuttering. "Destiny is not written in stone, Neji niisan. It is built with every decision we make."

"Pretty words," Neji responded, sliding into a more aggressive combat stance. "But on the battlefield, words mean nothing."

He advanced with explosive speed. His hands became a blur as he executed a series of strikes designed to overwhelm Hinata's defense. One, two, three, four.

Hinata blocked the first two, dodged the third by spinning her body, but the fourth strike reached her on the left shoulder. Pain exploded in her system like an electric shock. Neji had closed one of her tenketsu. Hinata stepped back, adjusting her posture to compensate for the temporary loss of mobility in that arm.

"One strike," Neji said coldly. "Sixty three more and you will be completely defenseless."

"Then I will have to make sure you do not connect those sixty three," Hinata responded.

She advanced again, this time using mainly her right arm. Her attacks were more calculated now; she was looking for openings. Neji blocked a strike aimed at his chest. Hinata immediately spun, using the momentum to throw a kick toward her cousin's ribs.

He saw it coming. He caught her ankle with one hand and pulled, unbalancing her. Hinata fell forward, but she used the moment to turn the fall into a sweep with her other leg. Neji had to release her ankle and jump to avoid being knocked down. Both separated again, breathing with more intensity now.

"You are more persistent than I remembered," Neji admitted.

"I have learned that giving up has never been an option," Hinata responded.

From the stands, Naruto was on the edge of his seat. "Go, Hinata! You can do it!"

Sakura, standing next to him, watched with admiration. "Neji is really strong. But Hinata... she is not giving up."

"Because she is strong too," Naruto said with absolute conviction. "Stronger than anyone thinks."

In the arena, Neji made a decision.

"It seems I need to be more serious with you, Hinata sama." His hands moved toward a specific position. "Hakke Rokujuyon Sho."

The Eight Trigrams Sixty Four Palms.

Hinata felt the change in the air. Her Byakugan caught how Neji's chakra concentrated in his hands, preparing for the most devastating technique of the Juken. There was no time to dodge.

"Two palms."

The first two strikes impacted her chest. Two tenketsu closed.

"Four palms."

Another two strikes. Hinata tried to step back, but Neji was already in her space.

"Eight palms."

The world became a blur of pain. Every strike was precise, designed to systematically close the chakra points of her body.

"Sixteen palms."

Hinata felt her chakra being cut off section by section. Her arms felt heavy; her legs trembled.

"Thirty two palms."

No... not like this...

"Sixty four palms!"

The final blow sent her flying backward. Hinata fell on her back onto the sand, dust rising around her. Her breathing was erratic, painful. She could feel that most of her tenketsu were closed.

The silence in the arena was absolute.

Neji straightened up, turning his back to Hinata with an expression of cold satisfaction. "It is over. Destiny has spoken."

Hayate Gekko began to raise his hand to declare the end of the match. But then, Hinata moved.

Her fingers dug into the sand. With an effort that tore a muffled cry of pain from her throat, she began to stand up.

"What?" Neji turned sharply.

Hinata was on her knees, shaking violently. Her breathing was harsh, each inhalation a challenge against the pain running through her chakra system.

"No... not yet..." she whispered.

"It is useless," Neji said with a hard voice. "Your tenketsu are closed. You cannot use chakra. You are only hurting yourself more."

Hinata raised her head. Through the fog of pain, her eyes found Naruto in the stands. He was standing, his hands gripping the railing, his blue eyes full of concern and unbreakable faith.

"Hinata!" he shouted. "You can do it! Do not give up!"

Something warm exploded in Hinata's chest. The memory of every training session, of every time Kurenai had told her she was stronger than she believed, and of every moment she had surpassed her own limits.

And the Falna responded.

The system that had been inscribed on her back by Naruto recognized the will burning in her soul. It recognized her desire to protect the faith that Naruto had placed in her and her desire to prove that it had been worth believing in her.

Lioness Heart.

Hinata's chakra exploded. The tenketsu that Neji had closed began to open one by one, forced by the will and power of the Falna, amplifying Hinata's capabilities beyond her normal limits.

Neji took a step back, his eyes widening. "What...?"

Hinata stood up completely. Her posture no longer trembled. The pain was still there, but it had been pushed to the back of her mind, suppressed by adrenaline and absolute determination. Her Byakugan shone with more intensity than before.

"I am not going to give up," she said with a clear and strong voice. "Not when Naruto kun is watching. Not when I have come this far."

Chakra flowed into her hands with an intensity that made the air around her vibrate visibly.

"This is impossible," Neji murmured. "No one can recover from the Sixty Four Palms like that..."

"Then I suppose," Hinata said, sliding into her combat stance with renewed fluidity, "that you do not know all the limits that can be surpassed."

She advanced. Her speed was different now. Neji barely had time to raise his arms before the first strike reached him. The impact made him step back half a pace.

Hinata did not stop. Her left hand was already in motion, seeking Neji's side. He blocked, but the strike had more force than he expected. His feet slid across the sand.

"Your power..." Neji began.

"It has been released," Hinata completed.

She launched a series of strikes that Neji had to struggle to block. Each impact resonated with a dull sound. The flow of chakra in Hinata's hands was visible now, rippling around her palms like translucent blue flames.

Neji retreated, creating distance. "If that is the case, then I will have to use this."

His hands moved toward a specific defensive position. Chakra began to flow from all the tenketsu in his body simultaneously.

"Hakkesho Kaiten."

He began to spin. The chakra expelled from his body formed a perfect dome around him, a rotating shield that rejected everything that approached. It was the absolute defense of the Hyuga clan.

Hinata stopped several meters away, observing the rotation with her Byakugan. She could see the flow of chakra and the way it formed an almost impenetrable barrier.

The Heavenly Rotation... a technique that only the most talented members of the clan master...

But the Lioness Heart was still active. And with it, her perception was sharpened to levels that surpassed her normal state. She saw something. A pattern. A minuscule fluctuation in the flow of chakra. It was a point where the chakra had to redistribute every time Neji completed a rotation.

Hinata waited. The Kaiten continued to spin, the chakra dome shining under the arena lights. And then, at the exact moment she saw the fluctuation, she acted.

"Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm."

She launched eight blasts simultaneously, each perfectly timed to hit the Kaiten at the moment of its fluctuation. The first blast impacted just as the chakra pattern redistributed. The dome trembled.

The second, third, and fourth blasts hit in rapid succession, each amplifying the effect of the previous one. The fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth blasts broke the Kaiten. The chakra dome fragmented like glass, and Neji was forced to stop, his rotation interrupted abruptly.

He was dizzy, disoriented by the forced interruption of his technique. Hinata did not waste the opportunity. She closed the distance in an instant. Her right hand extended forward, all her will concentrating on a single point.

Her palm struck the center of Neji's chest with precision. The chakra flowed from her hand directly into her cousin's tenketsu system. It was a strike designed to overload them.

Neji's body arched back. His eyes widened with shock and pain. Hinata did not withdraw her hand. She pushed more chakra, channeling everything the Lioness Heart allowed her.

"This..." she whispered close to Neji's face, "is for everyone who has been called weak. For everyone who was underestimated. For everyone who refused to accept the destiny others wrote for them."

With one last push of chakra, Hinata released the blow. Neji was sent flying backward, his body bouncing once on the sand before rolling several meters. He stopped on his back, motionless.

The silence in the arena was deafening.

Hinata straightened up slowly, her breathing heavy and her body shaking from the effort. The Lioness Heart began to deactivate; the adrenaline was fading and the pain of her wounds returned with force.

Hayate Gekko approached Neji quickly, checking his condition. After a moment, he straightened up and raised his hand.

"Neji Hyuga is unable to continue! The winner is Hinata Hyuga!"

The arena exploded in noise.

Naruto shouted louder than anyone. "YES! I KNEW IT! I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT, HINATA!"

Sakura was clapping with a genuine smile. "Incredible! She actually won!"

Kiba was jumping in his seat. "THAT IS MY TEAMMATE! TEAM EIGHT, BABY!"

Rock Lee had tears in his eyes. "Hinata san's flame of youth burned brighter than Neji kun's! What a beautiful battle!"

Might Guy nodded with solemnity, although his own eyes were damp. "Neji... you were defeated by someone who refused to accept the destiny you believed was absolute. I hope this lesson teaches you something valuable."

In the arena, Hinata felt her legs give way. She began to fall, but before she could hit the ground, firm hands caught her.

"I've got you!" Naruto had jumped from the stands directly into the arena, ignoring the protests of the officials. He held her carefully, his arms surrounding her with gentleness.

"Naruto kun..." Hinata whispered, with a weak voice but a small smile.

"You did amazing," Naruto told her, with a smile brighter than the sun. "I knew you would win. I knew you were strong."

Hinata's blush was barely visible under her paleness from exhaustion, but it was there.

"Thank you... for believing in me..."

"Always," Naruto responded without hesitation.

The medical team arrived running with stretchers. One for Neji, who was being checked by other medics, and another for Hinata. Naruto helped her lie down on the stretcher with extreme care.

"Rest now. You have already done your part."

Hinata nodded weakly, her eyes closing slowly as the adrenaline finally left her completely. As the medics took her away, Naruto stood in the center of the arena, looking toward the electronic board that was already showing the names of the next match.

Sakura approached his side. "That was... wow."

"Yes," Naruto agreed, his voice full of pride. "Hinata is incredible."

From the shadows of the upper stands, several pairs of eyes had observed the battle with different degrees of interest. Tsunade had seen everything with her arms crossed and a small smile of approval on her lips.

"The Hyuga girl has guts."

Shizune, at her side, nodded. "Her chakra changed during the match. As if something had amplified it."

"The Falna," Tsunade murmured in a low voice, quiet enough that only Shizune could hear. "It is working better than I expected... I wonder what effects it would have on me..."

In another section, Kurenai had a smile of absolute pride on her face. Her red eyes shone with satisfaction as she watched Hinata being carried away on a stretcher.

"You did it, Hinata. Exactly like I said you would."

Naruto was smiling with genuine satisfaction.

"Ramen," he said aloud, more to himself than to Sakura. "We are definitely going to need a lot of ramen after this."

Sakura laughed softly. "You always go back to ramen."

"It is just that ramen solves everything, Sakura chan. You will see."

And as they returned to the stands to observe the rest of the matches, neither of them noticed how the seeds of something bigger had already been planted. Hinata's victory was not just a personal victory. It was a statement. An announcement that the status quo was changing. And in the world of the shinobi, change always brought consequences.
