Chapter 7 - 7 ROYAL COURT

Romanic: Hiya forest

Royal court

"His majesty, King Lucien Dracula, ruler of the night and Lord of the Crimson royal court has arrived." The royal herald announced.

There was a chilling stillness in the court as the huge, sturdy double doors of the royal court opened. A heavy silence descended, and the court ministers practically shivered as King Lucien Dracula strode into the royal court, followed closely by his chief Knight and the political crown's counsel. His gaze was dark and unreadable. Lucien walked across the large courtroom and climbed the row of stairs leading to the throne. The large throne was covered with obsidian, decorated with blood-red velvet, and carvings of a bat in mid-flight were sculpted on both sides of the throne. The throne was carved in a two-seater format, surrounded by lit torches, complementing the dark look of the royal court. Lucien sat at one side of the throne his gaze sweeping over the shivering ministers. He was clad in a fitted waistcoat with ornate embroidery, layered beneath a long frock coat with silver and gold buttons. A crown made from obsidian rested on his head; his long, dark, and straight hair was styled in a manner that signified royalty. He wore black leather gloves and polished leather boots with silver buckles.

Lucien's skin was a deathly pale, his features sharp, and his eyes piercing. His overall appearance screamed royalty and darkness. The court ministers were positioned on each side of the throne. The royal court was decorated with purple and black curtains hanging on the walls. The floor was overlaid with a red and black carpet covering the entirety of the court's floor. The large double doors were made with black stones with intricately carved designs of bats and beasts.

The crown's counsel, Sir Cassien Twilight, stood one step below the throne with the King's Chief Royal Knight, Sir Damon, facing him at the other end.

"The first item for today is the need for a Vampire Queen" Sir Cassien announced loudly.

A dark-looking minister stood up immediately, Sir Cassien read the first item.

"Your majesty, the protector of the night realm, there is a growing need for a Vampire Queen. The people are agitating for a Queen. As you know, your majesty, Queens are not just chosen based on ceremonial preferences or choices, but queens are chosen because with them rulership becomes easier as equal power is given to you both."

"Your majesty, just like Minister Valen Darkmoor has rightly said, a Queen is needed, especially in a time like this, where werewolves pack are multiplying. A Queen will ease the mind of the people as succession is secured," Minister Draven Sanguis, a baldheaded Vampire, said before sitting.

Lucien's dark, brooding gaze rested on the ministers of the royal court.

"Cassien move on to the next item."

"Yes, your majesty"

"But your majesty, you have said nothing about the first agenda", Lady Valois, a noblewoman with a good sense of politics and intrigue, stated, standing up.

"The first item has been settled, Lady Valois", Lucien replied, his eyes narrowing down at her. The royal court knew one thing; Lucien hated being challenged.

Lady Valois clumsily sat down as she looked straight ahead avoiding Lucien's dark gaze.

"The second item is the next heir to succeed the throne" Cassien announced.

"And how is that any different from the first agenda?" Lucien questioned, his brows furrowed.

"The royal court has provided a woman, Lady Lilith Darkmoor who is considered suitable for carrying the next royal heir," Cassien explained.

"Your majesty, whatever Queen you choose, we will not object, but as the Minister of royal bloodlines, I have provided a suitable woman who will carry the next heir of the Vampire Kingdom." Minister Kristoff Valdemer said, he looked at his fellow ministers who nodded their heads in support.

"Are you implying that I do not know what I want and the Queen I will or have chosen is not a suitable woman Minister Kristoff?" Lucien asked; he knew that the woman who bore the King's heir would be recognised, and the main queen might be relegated.

"I dare not, your majesty, we just...I just.."

"Your majesty, Minister Kristoff is only saying this for the good of the Vampire kingdom, so please do not twist his words" Minister Valen Darkmoor said, standing up.

"Minister Valen, father of Lady Lilith" Lucien said, in a statement form, a smirk playing on his lips.

"Yes, y..es, your majesty."

"Am I to assume that you are pushing your daughter to me to secure your place in the Royal court?"

"I wouldn't dare your majesty, Lady Lilith, my daughter was only chosen because she is the best choice and she is the only lady, after the Queen dowager Thalia, most known to you."

"I guess you want to push your daughter's luck then, from being a common mistress to a blood mother "

Minister Valen's face contorted slightly in rage and he lowered his gaze, annoyed that his daughter was referred to by Lucien as a common mistress.

"Angry?" Lucien asked, a cunning smile playing on his red lips.

"Not at all, your majesty." Minister Valen replied, sitting down.

"Cassien, conclude the court session"

"Yes, your majesty, the court session for today has been concluded."

Most of the ministers were angry at being ignored by the king. Lucien strode out of the courtroom with the crown's counsel and the chief royal Knight following one step behind. They didn't express their disapproval or make it vivid on their faces that they were displeased. Lucien couldn't care less about their disapproval as the proud Vampire King left the royal court.
