That was the only thing that remained between us as I let her rash words settle between us. My hands balled into fists by my sides and for the first time, I felt this irresistible urge to hit her.
To make her seal her lips shut forever.
To weaken her, just like I had weakened her father.
I rolled my eyes in annoyance— in my bid to appear nonchalant— and then I hissed; "You're spewing nonsense. There's nothing I can do or say to make you believe me if you have chosen not to."
"Well, so are you." She clapped back without hesitation, making my eyebrows shoot so high until it disappeared into my hairline. "I also thought you were spewing nonsense when you asked me to marry you, which is preposterous if you come to think about it. Me… your sister."
"You are NOT my sister!" I bellowed so loudly, the veins at the sides of my neck protested. But she didn't seem affected. She simply smiled.
