Chapter 307 - Chapter 307 Understanding, Respect, and Applause!

One week later.....

Kayson sat in the Great Hall, eating breakfast and reading The Daily Prophet.

Until he saw on one of the sections, "The Persistence of a One-Armed Writer, How Difficult Is It!"

In that instant, he thought a lot, truly a lot.

He had once heard a saying that when a person feels something is absurd to the extreme, he will laugh out loud.

And at this moment, Kayson laughed out loud, but it was a helpless laugh.

He no longer felt angry at Rita Skeeter; on the contrary, he developed a sense of admiration for her from the bottom of his heart.

"This person… is so amazing, he'd succeed at anything he does." Kayson said sincerely.

After breakfast, Kayson, who had no classes all day, and Hagrid were roped in to follow the Ministry of Magic's planners to the Quidditch Pitch to design the maze needed for the third task.

Originally, Hagrid wanted to invite Professor Sprout as well, because she would likely have some fast-growing magic plants to quickly build the maze with plants.

Then Kayson placed a leaf block on the ground.

"Wow… Is this Alchemy too?" Hagrid asked, a little surprised.

"Obviously, yes." Kayson nodded.

The two of them, along with the Ministry of Magic planner, manually built a thickened and heightened Giant maze.

Finally, Hagrid brought over a huge trophy, which represented the champion of the Triwizard Tournament.

Kayson looked at the trophy through his monocle: "Uh… Gold-plated iron? A bit shabby."

"In fact, the Ministry of Magic was already struggling to provide this much gold; most of this year's discretionary funds were paid as compensation to Romania. Although four Dragons aren't particularly precious, maintaining relations between the two countries is still very necessary," the Ministry of Magic planner explained.

"Of course, I don't mean to be critical." Kayson walked towards the trophy and reached out to touch it.

With a thought, a surge of magic power enveloped the trophy from the inside out. Gold, created from nothing, devoured and eliminated the iron inside the trophy, leaving a pure gold trophy sitting there.

"Wow, now the average person might not even be able to pick it up." Hagrid knew what Kayson had just done; he walked over and tried to lift it.

It was heavy; even for a Giant like him, it was considered heavy.

The Ministry of Magic planner, however, looked puzzled: "What do you mean?"

"It means that trophy is now pure gold," Kayson explained.

"Just now! That fast! I thought it would require some special Alchemy ritual, or some special Alchemy potion…" The planner's eyes widened, staring intently at the hand Kayson had just used to touch the trophy.

At this moment, he wished so much that Kayson would touch him with that hand too, anywhere would do.

"Alright, let's go." Kayson, however, did not sense that strange, intrusive gaze; he simply used an Ender Field to instantly teleport Hagrid and the planner out of the maze.

After all, it was still a maze; if he left them, even with a God's-eye view of the planning map, it would take a lot of time to find their way out.

Next up was the eagerly awaited waiting period.

There was only one month between the end of the second task and the start of the third, and a week had already passed, which meant…

There were still four weeks.

4 × 7 = 28…

There were still three weeks.

I'm sorry, I drank too much last night, and my head is a bit unclear now, please bear with me.

This means there are still three weeks…

Hmm.

These three weeks were destined to be extremely boring weeks.

No, not that boring either.

Of course, saying that is a bit impolite, because this belongs to Hagrid's scar.

Originally, Hagrid's date with Madame Maxime should have been very successful.

But because of Rita Skeeter's urgent newspaper article, Hagrid unilaterally stood up Madame Maxime.

And after standing her up, Hagrid was still in his hut with Sirius and Lupin, secretly drinking away his sorrows without Kayson.

After a round of drinks, Hagrid somehow misunderstood something; he suddenly felt that Madame Maxime didn't seem to like him that much, and instead seemed to be stringing him along.

Only their first date, Madame Maxime might have genuinely found Hagrid a bit cute, but when Hagrid said the wrong thing, all that goodwill instantly vanished.

After that, Madame Maxime's agreement to his dates seemed to be purposeful.

In fact, this is understandable, even perfectly correct.

After all, two people in love must gain something, right? If you have no value, why would she love you?

For Blast-Ended Skrewts or mole-skin coats?

But Hagrid wasn't like that; Hagrid's heart was too kind, too sincere.

So much so that his idea of love was purely two resonating souls attracting each other, unable to accept even a tiny bit of benefit.

But even soul resonance is a form of value; for example, a princess might like a knight who silently protects her—this is a kind of soul resonance, but protection is also value.

But what if there's no value? Twisted people need masochists, not patient people.

These twisted people can be said to not want to contribute even a bit; they have no money, which is perfectly reasonable, but they don't even have emotional value.

What… what do people gain from you?

A strong body? Well, that counts as value.

But Hagrid just felt that loving someone meant giving them gifts, not loving them because they gave him gifts.

An extremely straightforward view of love made Hagrid's path to courtship incredibly circuitous.

Actually, it wasn't that circuitous originally, but it was because of Rita Skeeter's amazing article, and also because of how much nonsense Lupin and Sirius had fed Hagrid.

Making Hagrid actively close off his heart to love…

These two guys are so eloquent, why didn't they instill some positive chicken soup for the soul in Hagrid?

If Hagrid really did get together with Madame Maxime, wouldn't the proportion of happily married staff at Hogwarts skyrocket!

Wait a minute.....

Kayson suddenly gulped down a mouthful of wine. He seemed to understand why Sirius and Lupin, those two old guys, had fed Hagrid so much nonsense.

Understood, respected, applauded!
