The air inside the luxury sedan was suffocating, thick with a tension that even the expensive leather scent couldn't mask. Outside, the neon lights of the Grand Sapphire Hotel blurred into long streaks of gold and blue. Gabriella sat in the passenger seat, her midnight-black crystal gown feeling like a heavy suit of armor. She stole a glance at Felix, but his profile was like stone, his eyes fixed forward on the dark road ahead.
The Unspoken Rift
"Buckle your seatbelt," Felix said, his voice flat and devoid of its usual warmth.
Gabriella felt a knot tighten in her chest. She clicked the belt into place, her mind racing. He saw the bracelet. He saw it glowing next to Jake. She had to fix this. "Felix... about the bracelets. I only wore it because—"
"No need for an explanation, Gabriella," he interrupted, his words cutting through her like a blade of ice.
"No, I have to explain," she insisted, her voice trembling. "It's not what you think."
Felix finally turned his head, his gaze heavy with a pain he was trying to hide. "I understand, Gabriella. Some things are always special to us. Even when we've been hurt, we keep them because the memory attached to them is precious."
He turned away, the engine roaring to life as he sped away from the hotel. Gabriella sat in stunned silence. Precious? She felt a wave of guilt and frustration. In reality, she had been in such a rush for the party that she had grabbed the first silver accessory she saw. It wasn't about love; it was an accident. But to Felix, it looked like she was still holding onto her past with Jake.

A Lonely Breakfast
The next morning, the Phoenix Mansion felt unusually large and empty. The sunlight spilling across the obsidian floors felt cold. Gabriella woke up and reached for the other side of the bed, but the silk sheets were already chilled. Felix was gone.
She checked her phone and saw a message from him:
You were sleeping and I didn't want to disturb you. Had to head to the office early. I've already prepared breakfast. Enjoy.
Gabriella didn't smile. She walked down to the kitchen, dressed in a simple white silk robe, and saw the plate he had left for her. It was perfect, but it felt like a peace offering from a man who was already moving away from her.
As she sat at the table, picking at her food, the large TV in the dining area flickered to life with the morning business news. A headline scrolled across the bottom of the screen that made her blood run cold: "ROYAL GROUP ANNOUNCES SURPRISE LAUNCH OF INNOVATIVE PRODUCT LINE TO DOMINATE THE MARKET."
Gabriella's fork clattered against the porcelain plate.
-------
The Royal Hotel was a towering fortress of glass and steel, screaming wealth and power. Inside the grand ballroom, the air was thick with the scent of expensive lilies and the chatter of the city's elite. Everyone was there for the Royal Group's massive product launch.
The Mother's Pride
Bianca, Raina's mother, stood in the center of the room, looking elegant in a champagne-colored lace gown. She watched her daughter with a beaming smile. Raina was glowing, dressed in a sharp, power-red silk suit that demanded attention.
"I'm so proud of you, Raina," Bianca said, clinking her glass against her daughter's. "How did you even come up with such a brilliant idea? The innovation is groundbreaking."
Raina chuckled, a cold, triumphant glint in her eyes. "You just haven't seen my true entrepreneur skills yet, Mom."
Bianca giggled, feeling a wave of relief. Finally, she thought, Raina has moved past that obsession with Gabriella and revenge. She's finally building something of her own. I'm so happy. She watched Raina walk away to greet business partners, unaware of the storm brewing outside.

The Shadow on the Balcony
High above the celebration, on a secluded balcony of a neighboring building, Gabriella stood like a dark angel. She was dressed in a charcoal-grey tailored business suit, her hair pulled back into a tight, lethal ponytail. The wind whipped her coat around her as she stared down at the hotel.
She pulled up a photo of Raina on her phone, her thumb tracing the screen. "I will ruin every small bit of happiness you have," she whispered, her voice a chilling promise.
Suddenly, her gaze shifted to the hotel's service entrance below. She saw two massive bodyguards aggressively shoving a young man out onto the pavement.
"Get lost!" one guard shouted. "Do whatever you want—no one will believe you!"
The young man looked devastated, his clothes wrinkled and his face pale with exhaustion. "How dare you!" he screamed, his voice cracking. "You stole the copyright! I invented that technology! You're using my credit to launch that product!" He slumped against a wall, tears of pure frustration streaming down his face.
Gabriella's eyes narrowed. She recognized that look—the look of someone whose life had been stripped away by the Royal Group. She descended to the street level and walked toward him, her heels clicking sharply against the concrete.
"What happened?" she asked, her voice cold and direct.
The young man looked up, scoffing as he wiped his eyes. "What do you care? You're probably one of them, right? Another liar in a fancy suit." He turned to walk away, his shoulders slumped in defeat.
"No," Gabriella said, stopping him in his tracks. "I'm more like their worst enemy. If you tell me the whole story... I could be the one to help you take them down."
The young man paused, looking at her with a mix of hope and suspicion.

The Bullet of Betrayal
The Royal Hotel was a fortress of gold and arrogance. From a dark, hidden balcony across the street, Gabriella watched the product launch like a hawk. She was dressed in a sharp navy blazer and black leather trousers, her silhouette blending into the shadows. Beside her, the young inventor she had rescued stood trembling, now disguised in a black hoodie and a face mask.
The Countdown to Ruin
"I'm going to bring down your entire legacy, Raina," Gabriella whispered, a cold, curved smile playing on her lips. She handed the young man a burner phone. "When the party peaks, call this number. My hackers have already bypassed their security. One call, and your story—the truth of how she stole your invention—will play on every giant screen in that ballroom and across the global live stream."
The young man looked at her, his eyes wide behind the mask. "Why are you helping me? What did she do to you?"
Gabriella's gaze turned to ice. "Because... she is the reason I lost my brother."
Before the young man could ask more, the heavy thud of boots echoed behind them. "You don't have to be shocked," a deep, chilling voice said. "We all have scores to settle with her."
Gabriella spun around to see Felix. He looked devastatingly handsome even in the shadows, his black trench coat billowing in the wind.
"Shouldn't you be at the office?" she asked, surprised.
Felix stepped closer, a protective smirk on his face. "I was. But how could I leave my wife alone in a den of lions?" He held up his phone, showing a tracking app synced to her location.
"How dare you spy on me!" Gabriella snapped, rolling her eyes.
"It's not spying, Gabby," he murmured, his voice dropping an octave as he stepped into her personal space. "I care about you. I just need to know you're alright."
The inauguration began. The young man gripped the phone. "Do I press it now?"
"No!" Gabriella and Felix shouted in unison.
Their eyes were locked on the stage. A tiny, flickering red dot was dancing across Raina's chest, right over her heart.
"A sniper," Gabriella whispered, her blood running cold. "She has another enemy... someone who wants her dead tonight."
Gabriella didn't wait. She spotted the source—a tall, unfinished construction building directly opposite the hotel. She bolted, her boots pounding against the concrete. Felix grabbed her hand, his face etched with concern. "I'm coming with you!"
"No! Stay here and make sure nothing else goes wrong!" she yelled, wrenching her hand free and disappearing into the night.
---------
The Ghost of the Past
Minutes later, Gabriella reached the top floor of the construction site, gasping for air. She froze. Standing there with a sniper rifle was Ronnie—Lara's boyfriend from years ago. He had a rough mustache now, and his eyes were bloodshot with madness.
"Ronnie! Don't do it!" she screamed.
Ronnie didn't lower the gun. "Why not? You want to be the one to kill her instead of me?"
"No... I mean you can't do this! If Lara were here, she wouldn't want you to become a murderer because of her!"
Ronnie let out a hollow, jagged laugh. "I'm already a killer, Gabriella! They framed me for Lara's murder and threw me in prison for years. I got out ten days ago for one reason: to finish her."
"Don't ruin your life," Gabriella pleaded. "I will punish her. I promise."
Ronnie stepped toward her, thrusting the heavy rifle into her hands. "Then do it! Kill her now, or stop talking!"
Gabriella stood stunned, the cold metal of the gun heavy in her grip. "I want to punish her more than just death," she whispered.
"You don't care about Lara. Or Kevin," Ronnie hissed, turning to walk away. "It was all a lie. You've already forgotten them."
Fury exploded in Gabriella's chest. The images of Lara and Kevin flashed behind her eyes—the pain, the loss, the injustice. Her eyes turned a burning red. She raised the rifle, peering through the scope at Raina's smiling face.
BANG.
The bullet tore through the night air, crossing the gap between the buildings and shattering the glass of the Royal Hotel. But in that split second, Bianca, Raina's mother, stepped in front of the screen to give her daughter a hug.
The bullet buried itself deep into Bianca's shoulder.
"MOM!" Raina's scream echoed through the speakers. Bianca collapsed to the floor, blood staining her champagne dress. The crowd erupted into total chaos.
Gabriella dropped the gun, her hands shaking. Felix appeared behind her, sweating and breathless. He looked at the hotel, then at the gun on the floor. "Oh no..." he whispered.
As Bianca lay bleeding, the giant screens behind Raina suddenly flickered to life. The young man had made the call. A video began to play: it was a secret recording of Raina trading the stolen designs for money, her voice clear and mocking.
The audience gasped, their cameras flashing. Raina looked at the screen, then down at her dying mother, her face twisting into a mask of pure, demonic hatred. She looked toward the construction building, her eyes seemingly locking onto Gabriella's.
"I won't leave you alive for this, Gabriella," Raina screamed into the microphone, her voice carrying over the sirens. "You didn't just take my company. You took my mother. Now, I'm taking everyone you love."
As the police swarm the building, Gabriella realizes Ronnie has vanished—and Felix is looking at her with a look of horror she has never seen before.
