The effect of the drug had settled exactly the way Kai predicted. Across the mansion grounds, the guards were still standing at their posts, but their alertness had dulled into something dangerously fragile.
Their eyelids drooped despite their efforts to stay awake, shoulders slouched ever so slightly, and reactions slowed by just enough to make a difference. To anyone observing from a distance, nothing appeared unusual. But up close, the signs were clear—they were fighting sleep, and losing.
Five minutes later, three new "guards" walked through the main gate with the quiet confidence of men who belonged there.
Kai led slightly ahead, his pace steady and unhurried. Alina walked beside him, her posture composed, her movements controlled, while Ryan followed just behind, maintaining the perfect distance expected within a disciplined security unit.
Their uniforms were flawless, their faces subtly altered with makeup that softened recognition without drawing attention, and most importantly, their body language matched the environment around them. They didn't rush. They didn't hesitate. They blended.
Two guards near the entrance glanced toward them briefly. One of them gave a tired nod, barely interested. "Shift rotation?"
Ryan responded without missing a beat, his tone carrying the casual fatigue of someone used to long hours. "Yeah. Jack wanted extra coverage tonight."
The guard groaned under his breath, rubbing his neck. "That man never sleeps."
Ryan let out a quiet sigh, nodding in agreement. "Tell me about it."
The guard gave a short laugh and waved them inside without another question. Just like that, they were in. The hallway leading toward the study was noticeably quieter than the rest of the mansion. The lighting here was dimmer, more controlled, and the silence carried a different weight—not emptiness, but observation. Two guards stood near the study door, arms folded, expressions bored but watchful.
As they approached, Ryan leaned slightly toward Kai. "Well," he muttered under his breath.
Kai didn't look at him, but his voice came low and steady.
"Remember the rule." Ryan exhaled slowly. "No drama." Kai gave a faint nod "No trace." Ryan rubbed his forehead, already exhausted by the restraint.
"You take all the fun out of illegal activities."
Alina stepped forward first, stopping just close enough to acknowledge presence without appearing intrusive. Ryan joined her, leaning casually against the wall.
"Any issues?" he asked.
One of the guards shook his head lazily. "Nope. Quiet."
Ryan nodded thoughtfully, shifting his weight—but the polished marble beneath him betrayed him for a split second. His boot slipped just enough to throw him off balance, his arms flailing briefly before he caught himself against the wall. Both guards stared at him. Ryan straightened immediately, clearing his throat with forced dignity.
"Testing the floor grip."
One guard blinked slowly. "What?"
Ryan nodded seriously, as if it were official protocol. "Safety inspection."
The guard frowned, clearly unconvinced. "…Right."
Alina turned her face slightly, biting back a laugh, while Kai stood completely still, staring ahead as if Ryan did not exist.
A few moments later, one of the guards stretched his arms. "I'm going to washroom to wash my face."
The other nodded. "I'll come."
Ryan stepped forward instantly. "We'll cover."
The guard shrugged. "Fine."
Within moments, the corridor was empty. Ryan glanced at Kai. "Well. That was easy."
Both Alina and kai pretending to go to washroom and hide there. The CCTV camera continued its slow mechanical rotation, sweeping the corridor in precise intervals. The moment its lens turned away, Kai moved.
"Now."
All two of them stepped aside, slipping into a narrow blind spot between the camera's sweep. They pressed themselves against the wall, perfectly still, waiting for the camera to complete its cycle. The second it moved past again, Kai reached for the study door and opened it just enough for them to slip inside.
"Two minutes," he said quietly.
Ryan stayed near the hallway entrance, standing guard. Inside, the study door closed softly behind Kai and Alina. The room felt heavier than before, the silence thicker, as if it carried secrets that didn't belong to the surface.
Alina moved immediately toward the corner. "The tile," she whispered.
Kai crouched beside the slightly uneven marble tile they had noticed earlier. This time, instead of trying to force it open, he ran his fingers lightly across the surface, feeling for irregularities.
Alina turned on her phone's flashlight, but instead of pointing it directly downward, she angled it sideways. The effect was immediate.
Faint scratches appeared across the marble—subtle, almost invisible unless viewed from that exact angle. Kai leaned closer, studying them carefully. They weren't random. They formed a pattern. Three tiles. A triangular alignment.
He pulled out his phone, took a quick photo, and zoomed in. Within the scratched lines, faint markings became clearer.
W.
H.
7.
Alina frowned slightly, her voice barely above a whisper. "What does that mean?"
Kai's expression darkened, his mind already working through possibilities
Outside, Ryan paced slowly like a bored guard, playing his role with effortless precision. Another real guard passed by, glancing at him.
Ryan straightened instantly. "Good evening."
The guard nodded. "You're new?
Ryan froze for half a second before recovering smoothly. "Yes."
"Transferred from where?"
"North gate."
The guard gave a knowing nod. "Rough place."
Ryan sighed dramatically. "You have no idea."
The guard moved on. Ryan exhaled quietly. "I absolutely deserve a raise for this."
A moment later, the study door opened. Kai and Alina stepped out, their expressions controlled, giving nothing away.
Ryan looked at them expectantly. "Well?"
Before they could respond, he muttered quickly, "Camera." Without wasting a second, all three of them moved back into position, pretending to return from the washroom just as the CCTV camera swept back across the corridor.
Perfect timing. Ryan let out a quiet breath. "Fantastic."

Far from the mansion, on a dimly lit road, the real guards were arguing loudly with the taxi driver.
"Do you even know what time it is? We're late because of you!"
The driver stepped out, raising his hands apologetically. "I'm really sorry, sir. The car suddenly broke down. I don't know what happened."
The guards cursed under their breath, frustration rising. "Our boss is strict," one of them snapped.
"I understand," the driver said quickly. "Let me help you."
They looked at him suspiciously. "What can you do?"
The driver leaned slightly closer, lowering his voice. "I know a way to get inside without being noticed."
The guards exchanged glances. "What do you mean?"
"Whenever I was late," he said, "I used a blind spot near the side entry. Cameras don't fully cover it."
Their hesitation faded into urgency. "Fine. Show us."
The driver led them carefully along a narrow path, guiding them through a section where the camera coverage weakened just enough to slip through unnoticed.
"Go straight to the washroom," he instructed. "Act like you've been there the whole time."
The guards nodded quickly. "Thanks, man."
The driver gave a small smile and walked away. Inside the mansion, in the washroom corridor, the three real guards stepped in, muttering among themselves.
"That driver saved us."
"Yeah, we're not telling anyone about this."
At the same time, the three of them were also there in washroom as the guards came out of the washroom Kai, Alina, and Ryan also walked away from the washroom as well and came down the corridor like nothing had happened. No one stopped them. No one questioned them.
But somewhere deep within the mansion, behind layers of silence and steel, unseen eyes had already begun watching. And this time— the game had truly begun.
