The Junkyard of Destiny - Pt 5
The enormous automaton brought down its sword, which fell like a meteor toward the heads of Thalia and Bianca.
But before it could get too close...
"FUS RO DAH!"
A shout filled with fury came out of nowhere, and a powerful force slammed directly into the colossus's chest.
The power of the Voice would normally send enemies flying. This time, against an enemy of such size, it only pushed him backward, causing him to fall onto his back against the mountain of scrap behind him.
BOOM.
At that moment, when the giant fell, Bianca seemed to catch sight of something beneath his ankle.
She could make out what looked like a maintenance hatch and a sign she could barely read that said:
MAINTENANCE ONLY
But Bianca didn't focus much on it at that moment.
It was obvious who had unleashed that shout of power.
Thalia and Bianca turned around and saw Percy, who had appeared not far from them with a completely serious expression.
"What exactly do you think you're doing?!" Percy couldn't help shouting, with more than a little anger in his voice.
He had only been distracted for a moment because of the goddess of love, and these girls had already awakened a monstrous colossus just so it could annihilate them.
Bianca and Thalia really wanted to defend themselves with words, but they didn't get the chance.
Because Talos immediately used his hands against the scrap for support and stood back up with surprising ease for a giant made of metal.
"We'll talk about that later. Get away from its area," Percy immediately said as he reached into his bag to pull out one of his weapons.
But when he looked at the mechanical giant and the gigantic sword, large enough to rival a building, he paused for a moment.
The giant moved with impossible speed for something so enormous.
And the moment it got back on its feet, the first thing it did was look directly at Percy, recognizing him as the one who had attacked it. It even seemed angry about it.
And without sparing even a moment of thought, it swung at Percy.
This time even faster than when it had attacked Thalia and Bianca.
"Tsk."
Percy, of course, wasn't going to clash sword against sword with that thing that would almost certainly crush him.
So he simply jumped to the side, avoiding the slash.
Or the smashing attack.
Whatever it was trying to do.
When the sword struck the ground with all the force behind it, it buried itself several meters deep into the earth with ease, throwing dust and dirt in every direction like an explosion.
"Percy!" Bianca shouted when she saw him disappear inside the cloud of dust.
"Tsk. Who gets into trouble with something this big? Couldn't you find something your own size?" Percy said as he emerged from the dust holding a massive warhammer in both hands.
And without giving the giant Talos a chance to recover his sword, he swung the massive hammer toward the edge of the blade embedded in the ground.
TUNG.
The impact released a huge metallic sound that deafened the surroundings and made the enormous sword vibrate for a moment.
The vibration traveled up toward the wrist of the metal giant, making the hilt shake violently and forcing the great Talos to let go of the sword for a moment.
Even so, the enormous rusted blade suffered no visible damage.
Only a few marks from the strike of Percy's hammer.
Making Percy click his tongue again as he felt a slight numbness in his own hands from the recoil of the impact.
"If you can bring it down, that'd be a huge help," Percy immediately said.
Bianca didn't understand what Percy was talking about until she noticed that, without her realizing it, the sky had become covered in storm clouds that had hidden the stars at some point.
And several lightning bolts struck right behind her, making Bianca cover her ears for a moment before turning around to see Thalia gripping her spear tightly, pointing it toward the sky while lightning crashed into its tip like it was a lightning rod.
But the electrical energy seemed to be gathering at the tip of the spear.
Thalia immediately saw Talos about to recover his sword.
She spun the spear in her hand, holding it like a javelin.
And threw it with all her strength.
As soon as it left her hand, the electrical energy began racing along the shaft of the spear, filling it with so much power that its speed increased until it became like a true bolt of lightning.
BOOM.
It slammed into Talos's shoulder, causing the mechanical giant to stumble backward several steps, nearly falling.
But it seemed the power wasn't enough.
It only forced him back several paces before he regained his balance.
But that also gave enough time for what Bianca had noticed earlier to become visible again.
"Look over there!" she immediately shouted, pointing directly beneath the giant's ankle.
This time both Thalia and Percy looked at the same spot, noticing the same thing Bianca had.
But only for a moment, because the gigantic Talos, having regained his balance, seemed quite annoyed, if a twenty-story metal giant could even be annoyed.
He immediately raised his other foot directly toward Percy, wanting to crush him once and for all. At the same time, he moved to recover his enormous sword.
Seeing the massive foot descending toward him, Percy quickly moved far enough away to avoid both the foot itself and the compressed air created by the force of its descent.
Percy immediately regained his footing and pulled out his black sword without a second thought.
He ran toward Talos's foot and, without hesitation, drove the blade into it, the edge piercing even the thick metal from which it was made.
Then Percy moved forward, dragging the cut across the entire top of the foot while metallic sparks flew everywhere and a huge gash opened through the Celestial Bronze that made up the gigantic Talos.
Whether or not the thing could actually feel pain was something Percy obviously wasn't sure about.
But the fact that the damage caused Talos to lose interest in recovering his sword and instead bend down in an attempt to grab Percy with his hand was useful enough.
Because at that exact moment Grover, who maybe had no idea what the hell was happening but could clearly see a gigantic automaton trying to attack his friend, seemed to have gotten enough of a clue.
And without hesitation, he pulled out his enchanted flute and blew into it with force.
Immediately, an enormous spectral bear appeared in front of Grover and charged directly at the giant.
Even though the difference in size was obvious, the bear fearlessly leaped toward the same foot Percy was attacking and began raking its claws across the bronze with a shrill screeching sound.
Making Talos now try to catch both Percy and the spectral bear with his two hands.
But before he could even get close enough, Thalia's spear struck his chest once again, causing the giant to stagger for a moment.
And even forcing his left knee to touch the ground as he lost his balance.
Taking advantage of that, Percy finished cutting through the top of the foot and moved toward the other foot behind it, intending to enter through the hatch they had seen.
But before he could even take a few steps, he noticed someone was already there ahead of him.
"That idiot!" Percy shouted as he tried to increase his speed, seeing that the person climbing into Talos's ankle was none other than Bianca.
But he wasn't fast enough.
Because Talos immediately recovered, rising back to his feet while using the enormous sword embedded nearby as support.
Preventing anyone else from entering through his ankle while simultaneously recovering his weapon.
Percy stared intently at Talos's left foot, where Bianca had entered.
But there wasn't much else he could do, because the giant, surely furious by now, didn't bother lifting his right foot this time.
Instead, he simply dragged it forward, intending to crush Percy beneath it.
