Chapter 36 - Chapter 36

The world trembled as Kang and Pietro ran arms first into each other, shockwaves rippling from their clash. The silver-haired speedster gritted his teeth before abruptly stopping his push, but Kang saw what he was doing and did the same.

The two fighters sped off and clashed again, shooting past each other only to turn back towards the other.

Space distorted as the two speedsters clashed over and over, leaving trails of red-black and gold-blue in their wake. Pietro himself struggled to keep pace as Kang ran beside him, the time-travelling speedster frowning when Pietro came to a sudden stop.

Doing the same, he watched as Pietro took a deep breath and vanished, his form blurring as several afterimages of the silver speedster attacked him from both sides.

With a growl, Pietro's silver hair turned gold and his eyes crimson, Kang's eyes widening as he watched chi intermix with the chaos energy coursing through the speedster's body.

However, he didn't get to marvel more at it as Pietro's fist barely flew past his head, his own body ducking to avoid another's kick from the side.

His form blurred as he ducked and weaved in one spot, Pietro's afterimages growing by the second until Kang found himself evading the attacks thousands of afterimages attacking him from every spot.

'Hahahaha! You have gone beyond my calculations, Pietro Maximoff!' he thought with glee as the world slowed, Pietro's afterimages slowing a fair bit when Kang shifted into a simple crouched stance with his hands out to the side.

The next moment, his arms were clad with an azure glow and he swung them outwards. Pietro's eyes widened as he immediately ceased his attacks, taking off when all of his afterimages were erased with ease.

The speedster leapt into the air as the ground under them ceased to exist, watching with horror as the Bronx was reduced to atoms.

'Well, fuck,' Thankfully, it was still early in the morning so most were at work in other parts in New York, but there were still people there and now they were just...gone.

"It all depends on you, Pietro Maximoff!" Kang exclaimed, punching outwards and unleashing a storm of coiling energy projectiles.

Pietro felt danger from each one as he skated through the air, watching as a single blast impacted a frozen plane and erased it from existence.

"How many need to die before you surrender?! It all depends on you!" Pietro's gaze snapped back to Kang as he growled, kicking off the air and racing towards his fellow speedster.

Kang himself grinned as he cracked his knuckles together and punched forward with a roar. Erupting from his knuckles was a colossal beam of pure erasure, but Kang's eyes widened as Pietro held his fists in front of himself and spun.

What came from his attack was a drill of pure kinetic force piercing through the blast, but Pietro grimaced when the deflected fragments of the blasts erased matter and space.

'I need to finish this fast,' he thought as he appeared in front of Kang, crashing with both fists into his chest

The impact was like a supernova as Pietro's chi-infused aura exploded, grinding against the advanced neuro-kinetic suit right as Kang snarled and kicked outwards.

Pietro wheezed as the man's boot dug into his side and sent him skidding across the ground, but Kang himself grunted as the impact forced him back a few steps.

The two were swift to recover, Kang taking deep breaths while Pietro clenched his fists even as blood flowed from the torn skin on his knuckles.

"I am still playing with you here, Pietro. You are fast, but you forget. I created you," Kang spoke with a grin, marching towards Pietro who frowned. "Without me, you would have died during that battle against Ultron and I don't mean the one you just fought! No, you were supposed to die in a year's time from now and I saved you from that foolish fate!"

"Fate this, fate that. It's always people who can travel through time that likes to preach about fate and destiny. You wanna know one thing about fate, Kang?"

"Amuse me," Kang replied with a smirk and Pietro chuckled as he rose to his feet, rolling his shoulders as he raised his fists.

"Fate...it's nothing more than a name people give to the things they're too afraid to change. You didn't save me, Kang. You just gave a man who was already running a reason to never stop because if I do, who would be there to stop you?"

"Ah, so this is the point in this timeline where you become a hero? A bit too late considering all that's happened," Kang replied with a smirk, gesturing towards the crater they stood in.

"A hero?" Pietro asked with a snort, making Kang narrow his eyes as he saw the speedster's smirk. "Nah, I'm just the guy who's going to make sure that you don't become a bigger threat down the line."

With that said, Pietro didn't run so much as he exploded forward with a simple lunge. Chi and chaos energy danced around his knuckles as he swung forward, Kang raising an arm and catching the blow.

Wrapping his arm around Pietro's, Kang pulled him into a headbutt, but he grunted as Pietro raised his knee at the same time to counter.

The exchange of blows happened before the first shockwave could even form from Pietro's lunge, Kang being the first to recover as he grinned.

"Good, let us see how long you can keep up your resistance," he whispered before he vanished, Pietro's eyes widening when Kang appeared in front of him.

Ducking under a spin kick, he was led into a feint as Kang fell to the ground with the spin, delivering a swift kick to his jaw that sent the speedster ragdolling across the ground.

Kang vanished and reappeared in his path, a crushing knee slamming into his chest. The wind was knocked out Pietro before a hand grabbed onto his throat, Kang taking off while dragging the speedster with him.

Throwing him forward, Pietro bounced off several buildings and careened through the sky, Kang appearing in front of him before lashing out with a vicious punch.

The world blurred as Pietro was sent rocketing through the sky, bouncing off of the Pyramids of Giza. He slammed back first into the Great Wall of China before rolling out of the way as Kang crashed through it feet first.

As the time travelling speedster turned around, a kick cracked against his jaw, his body spiralling with the kick and bouncing off of the rebuilt Eiffel Tower.

Grabbing onto Kang's body as he bounced across the Pacific Ocean, Pietro spun and threw him away, watching as Kang's form skipped across the waters and past a beach.

The speedster moved past the frozen forms of the pedestrians before his eyes widened as a monstrous shadow appeared overhead.

Kang lifted the Christ the Redeemer statue overhead before bringing it down with a bellow, raising an eyebrow when he felt an impact and the statue phase through the ground.

Pietro gritted his teeth as he kept the vibration of the statue up while kicking it to pieces, kicking said fragments to the side and in the direction of the ocean.

Letting go of the lower half of the statue he had in hand, Kang threw it at Pietro right as the speedster appeared in front of him. The blonde-haired man crossed his arms and groaned at the impact, pushing through the pain and kicking off of it towards the ground.

Looking up, he immediately moved to the side as Kang crashed feet first into the ground, the time traveller looking at Pietro only to catch a chunk of the statue to his head.

The blow sent him reeling backwards before he dug his heels into the ground, sliding to a stop. Standing up, he watched as Pietro dashed towards him, but as he punched forward with an erasure beam, his eyes widened as Pietro's form distorted.

In the blink of an eye, Pietro vanished and reappeared at both of his sides, but he wheezed when both vanished and a third landed with a double stomp into his face.

The time-traveller was sent ragdolling through the air as Pietro landed with a flip, racing after Kang before leaping into the air.

Grabbing onto his legs, Pietro did numerous flips before flinging him down towards the ground, Kang tucking his body in as he crashed down into one of the many walls of the Grand Canyon.

Not giving the man time to recover, Pietro was a golden-blue comet as he plummeted. Sonic booms originating were frozen in time as Pietro flipped and landed with both feet, but his eyes widened at the blue vibrating barrier that formed around Kang.

"Chaos CONTROL!" With his declaration, the world paused. Pietro himself was frozen along with everything else as Kang dismissed his barrier, stepping to the side and walking away with a pleased smile.

"Well done, Pietro Maximoff. Truly, you have shown that even an anomaly can become a Nexus Being and that my research was not for naught," he muttered, clenching his fists before looking at the frozen visage of Pietro just a few inches away.

Letting out a chuckle at the rage dancing in the speedster's eyes, he pulled Pietro down to his level, inspecting the way chi and chaos energy danced in unison along his form.

"So, that is how you do it," Kang whispered, looking at the interface on his gauntlet. Tapping a few buttons, the chaos energy coursing through his own suit rippled outwards and he gritted his teeth as he felt it sinking under his skin.

With the work of his advanced technology, he couldn't help the predatory smile as chaos energy danced with his own chi, his visor turning a deep silver as the red-black was soon joined by wisps of silver flames.

Kang threw his head back with a boisterous laugh, but as he did so, he missed the minuscule vibrations of Pietro's eyes.

"Hahahaha! Science, magic and mysticism, working together to create the ultimate being that exists in every timeline in every universe! Omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence! Pietro Maximoff, you have granted me what I have always wanted! A way to rewrite stories as I desire."

"G-G-Good," Kang turned his head to stare at Pietro, his smile widening at the vibrations and slow movements of the blonde speedster.

Tapping the inside of his right glove with his ring-finger, Kang raised the very same hand and caught Pietro's kick.

"Come now. Before, I was nothing to you. With this, you are absolutely nothing to me."

"You say that, but I think you're wrong," Pietro whispered and Kang rolled his eyes, his grip tightening around the speedster's foot.

"Perhaps, we need to restart your education, then?"

"We should. I was always a bad student," Kang let out a chortle at Pietro's words, the speedster leaping with his other foot lashing out. Yet, his eyes widened as Kang's eyes easily watched the kick approach before he moved.

Reality distorted as Kang's form blurred, a blinding light shining from his armour and blinding Pietro.

"Gah!" the speedster recoiled and leapt back, Kang's grip having loosened as the time-traveller appeared a few yards away.

In that same moment that Pietro blinked, hundreds of blows cracked against his chest, each one resonating through his body and leaving him winded.

It was only when he opened his eyes that he found himself face to face with Kang's smiling face, but even then, he couldn't do anything but let out a silent gag as the final blow sent him blasting backwards.

Heaven and Earth shifted over and over as Pietro rolled across the country like a ragdoll, his every breath feeling like his last until he finally came to a sudden stop.

Gasping for air, he looked forward, staring at the trail of destruction that he had left through Washington City. It stretched onwards until it disappeared over the horizon, but it was soon replaced by the sight of Kang's boot cracking against his skull.

The Lincoln Memorial fractured and vanished as Pietro blasted through the back, continuing onwards before Kang appeared at his side and kicked him away.

For the next minute, Kang cackled as his blows rained down upon Pietro's form, leaving nothing but destruction and panic in their wake.

With a double stomp, Kang used Pietro as a skateboard before his leg snapped out, kicking Pietro through a wall and into another stone wall.

"Stonehenge, hmm? I've always wanted to visit," Kang spoke with a smile as he sat besides the battered form of Pietro, whose chi and chaos energy rapidly stitched his broken bones and organs back together.

Pietro himself tried to speak, but couldn't as his mouth was still trying to fix his teeth back into place and his tongue was too torn up to help him talk.

"Right, you nearly lost your tongue when you crashed through Everest, but I kept your mouth open for that. Although, anyone on the mountain is going to be dead so that's a shame."

"Wha-...whath do you wanth?" Pietro mumbled, spitting out a glob of blood as Kang turned to him with a raised eyebrow.

"I said it, didn't I? I wanted a way to alter every story that I come across and you just helped me. I've never figured out how to work with chaos energy and yet, by copying and analysing everything you do, I've finally reached a new level. Truthfully, I thought I was going to be stuck with what I stole from Wanda forever."

"...What?" Pietro whispered, slowly turning his head to Kang, who shook his head with a chuckle.

"Yeah, that's a funny story honestly. She was the only survivor and it took a few years, but you know, I can't be blamed for it if she falls in love with me through Stockholm Syndrome," Kang murmured, not missing Pietro's hands clenching into fists. "That and I only needed her alive until I got her chaos energy. After that, she didn't serve a purpose. Hah, it did pain me to erase her from my timeline, but such is the pursuit for power."

He turned to Pietro with a smile, who stared at him with wide red eyes as arcs of blue-gold electricity rippled from his form.

"Hey, look who's ready for another round. How do you want to do this? You know what, I'll even let you h-!" Kang's eyes widened as a fist crashed into his jaw, the spike of pain surprising him as he was sent flying from his seated position.

It didn't take him much to reorient himself midair and landed on his feet, but his visor-frame fell to pieces on the ground and he looked up to see a leg slowly moving towards his face.

It cracked against his forearms as he blocked the blow, pushing it away while swinging a wide fist at Pietro's form. It smashed into his stomach and made him fold over Kang's fist, but the time-traveller was surprised when Pietro grabbed onto his arm while lashing out with a snap kick.

His head snapped back with it before his face caved in courtesy of a heel drop from the same leg. Pietro landed with a gasp and a stumble, but his baleful glare never moved from Kang as he snarled and the electricity around his body rampaged.

"Well, look at you going all Super Saiyan. That is one of those anime things you guys like to watch in this time period, right?" Kang asked, though Pietro didn't respond as he stalked forward.

"You killed...my sister?" Pietro's voice distorted as he spoke and Kang looked disappointed as he rolled his eyes.

"Don't tell me you're a servant of love too? It is nothing more than a biological imperative of the lower dimensions and a chemical bribe to ensure the species continues, Pietro. You and I, though, we've transcended the need for such things. Hahaha! We have transcended our spec-!"

"You dared to kill her?" Pietro's mind went blank as he held Kang in the air by his skull, the time-traveller himself surprised as he had only seen a blur of pure energy rushing towards him.

"This is an unforeseen calculation...Fascinating!" Kang spoke gleefully as he moved, one leg kicking the underside of Pietro's arm to make him let go while the other pushed against his chest.

Jumping with the push, he landed a few feet away and vanished, reappearing directly above Pietro with his palms pointed at him.

With a single burst from his body, reality distorted and gravity inverted. Stonehenge and the very ground it stood on was flung upwards, but Pietro didn't look fazed as he fell upwards.

With a simple step, the air grew solid and he shot forward, shooting past Kang while palming his face yet again. Kang himself grunted hi surprise as he was tugged backwards, both him and Pietro crashing into the ground.

The speedster didn't stop at the surface as he continued to push forward, Kang pushing back against his form as the two burrowed through the crust of the planet.

They continued onwards towards the mantle and then further, Pietro's skin beginning to bubble just like Kang's as the ground was now a boiling hot sludge.

"You...you fool! You'll kill us both!" Kang let go of Pietro and tried to touch his interface, but his eyes widened as Pietro shattered it. Looking at the speedster, he saw nothing but a determined smile as Pietro let go when Kang swung.

Ducking under his hook, Pietro's arms and legs wrapped around Kang from behind as he got him into a chokehold, a peaceful smile spreading across his face.

Kang kicked and strained against Pietro's grip with his skin bubbling, but Pietro ignored his blows with a soft chuckle as he watched Kang struggle.

With a final breathe as they plunged into the planet's core, Pietro tightened his grip and closed his eyes.

A/N: ...Cliffhanger? Honestly, Pietro's so OP along with Kang that this was the only way I saw the two of them ending this fight. Otherwise, we'd be stuck with about a couple thousand words of the two just throwing fists and destroying the planet.
