A giant mantis swiftly sliced the 'Non-human' team into four pieces, splattering fresh blood onto himself, the strong stench of blood and the warm sensation made his body stiff and stomach churn.
He thought he must be the mantis's next target, silently praying that it would kill him quickly, sparing him from suffering.
But the mantis's scythe-like arms didn't move toward him; it just stayed where it was and feasted on the pieces of the corpses on the ground.
The chewing sounds were right above Gu's head. He lay motionless on the ground, he knew mantises, but he had never seen one so big and wasn't sure if it was still the same kind he knew, so he dared not move.
After the mantis finished its meal and turned to crawl out of the dark path, Gu became even more puzzled. He had always thought the 'Non-human' team members weren't human, how could there be warm blood inside them?
