"Stop moping around at work."
Felix turned to find Fawn standing in the hallway outside Jacob's office, her expression hard. He placed the duster on the desk.
"I'm dealing with personal problems—"
"Jacob doesn't care about your personal problems," Fawn cut in, her voice flat and cold. "Not when he's running a country."
Felix swallowed. "Look, things are rough right now. Nova's with Jared and—"
"Jacob already has too much on his mind. The last thing he needs is to babysit his employees because you can't keep it together." She took a step closer.
"I'm working hard for Jacob—"
"Not hard enough." Fawn's glare didn't waver. "If you continue to sulk, you won't have to worry about Nova anymore. You'll be out looking for new employment."
"You're just jealous that Jacob gave me the position you wanted." Heat crept into Felix's cheeks.
"You didn't deserve it." Fawn snapped. "And you're squandering it."
"I'm grateful that Jacob gave me this job. Without it, I wouldn't have a home outside the refugee centre."
Fawn's gaze didn't waver.
"Then don't waste it."
She walked off, leaving him to finish cleaning the office in silence.
