Chapter 90 - Sake

Gin snorted at Sake's words, but he didn't refute her. "You just like to play around so much like those people from the intelligence team."

"It can't be helped. I'm a bit tired from work, so I want to take a break, so don't disturb me, Gin." Hikari Yuki let out a low chuckle. She could sense Ai was trembling badly in her arm, but she still held her firmly yet tenderly as she patted the other party's back to soothe her.

After all, Sake has to uphold her image in front of other members of the organization.

"Besides, I should be the one asking this question to you." Hikari Yuki tilted her head. "Don't tell me that you want to take a break in this residential area. I don't remember hearing you have a residence around her."

"There's a mission, don't disturb me, Sake."

"Ok, ok~."

Hikari Yuki shrugged and then walked forward, passing by Gin in a nonchalant way. The other party also didn't seem to have any intention to talk with Sake.

Only Vodka's voice could be heard as he asked, "Brother, is that really Sake? But isn't he…?"

"Shut up, Vodka."

And Vodka could only shut up.

Hikari Yuki sighed and continued to walk forward with Haibara Ai in her arms, walking around the street as the girl's trembling subsided slowly but surely.

"Have you calmed down?" Hikari Yuki asked, her voice was soft and gentle.

"Um." Haibara Ai raised her head, her eyes red from crying. When Hikari Yuki was called by Gin, she could hear and see that this person changed her face completely. It looked like a completely different person was present.

This made her confused.

Which side of Hikari Yuki is real?

The gentle side or this cruel side?

But as she was being held gently and firmly, completely protected from Gin, Ai seemed to have the answer in her heart.

"Are you really Sake?" Haibara Ai asked the question she wanted to know the most.

Sake.

Sake, also known as Japanese rice wine, offers a diverse range of flavors, but generally presents a slightly sweet, clean taste with hints of umami and a smooth, light body.

But in the organization, this represented a famous killer not any worse than Gin. Because Sake was active in the other regions and not Japan, not many people here heard about her. But Haibara Ai heard about this codename when she participated in the joint mission to Europe.

At that time, she was staying at the back and saw a horrible scene that she would never forget in her entire life.

The entire corridor was filled with corpses, all killed in clean blows.

And they said that there's only one person responsible for the action part of this operation: Sake.

The ultimate murderer, yet there was no evidence of his murder in the slightest bit in the hands of the authorities.

He could appear in front of them and they would not catch her nor suspect her, even though he had just finished a murder right in front of their faces just a few minutes ago.

Because no evidence would point at Sake. Someone else will take the blame or it would remain unsolved case forever.

It was terrifying.

Later on, Haibara Ai heard that Sake was promoted to be third in command. And this was something that Gin told her personally when he threatened her, saying that if she didn't listen, he would send her to Sake and let him kill her.

Having seen Sake's brutality during that mission, even if she had never seen the other party directly, Haibara Ai had a second nightmare aside from Gin.

Thankfully, the other party was far away from Japan.

But now, she heard Gin calling Hikari Yuki with the name Sake.

The huge contrast made her confused.

If Hikari Yuki is really Sake… why did she save her sister and her when she's actually a mass murderer who had killed so many people?

Haibara Ai didn't understand.

Hikari Yuki looked at Haibara Ai and rubbed her head. "Yes, are you afraid of me now?"

Her voice was still the gentle tone that Haibara Ai was familiar with, not the chilling cold tone that she showed in front of Gin. It sounded soothing but Hikari Yuki didn't seem to be trying to provide comfort or explanation or anything to her.

She's simply stating a fact.

If anything, Haibara Ai felt that Hikari Yuki might think that it's not necessary.

Whether she believed in the other party or not, Hikari Yuki never truly cared.

Moreover... There was a faint trace of loneliness in the other party's tone that Ai couldn't explain and yet somewhat familiar.

"No," Haibara Ai said.

Hikari Yuki's pupil widened slightly in surprise, such a small movement that one wouldn't be able to notice if they were not paying close attention.

Haibara Ai looked at the other party's beautiful blue eyes and held Hikari Yuki's shoulder closely. "If you truly wanted to harm me, you wouldn't have left me with Kudo Shinichi. I don't know your purpose but since you saved my sister and didn't hand me over to the organization, I'm willing to trust you to a certain degree."

It's impossible for Haibara Ai to completely forget about her nightmare, but she's willing to believe that Hikari Yuki will not hurt her.

Because if Hikari Yuki truly wanted to, both she and Kudo Shinichi would have died several times over.

And it would have been impossible for her sister to be alive and well.

Besides… She trusted her instincts and what she had seen with her own eyes.

"Ok." Hikari Yuki smiled and after turning around a few more times, she finally brought Haibara Ai to Professor Agasa's house.

She knocked on the door and explained to Professor Agasa that she found Haibara Ai looked pale on the street, so she brought her here.

"Thank you for your help, Hikari." Professor Agasa could see that Haibara Ai's face was still a bit pale. "I'm sorry to trouble you."

"It's nothing much." Hikari Yuki has a gentle smile on her face. "I still have some things to do, so I'll leave first, Prof. Agasa."

"Yes, yes."

After Hikari Yuki left, Haibara Ai looked at Professor Agasa with a stern face. "Professor Agasa, call Kudo. Gin appeared in Beika Cho and I don't know what his purpose is."

She didn't see Gin's expression when he talked with Hikari Yuki. After all, she was so scared that she couldn't do anything and was being held gently by Hikari Yuki. But she still heard Gin say to Hikari Yuki that he was here for a mission.

In any case, it might be related to the case that Conan was working on.

"Yes!" Professor Agasa said and quickly contacted Conan.

Haibara Ai sat down on the sofa and rubbed her hand. She didn't understand what had actually happened, but to think that Sake is actually not loyal to the organization…

To what extent, Haibara Ai didn't know.

She had no desire to explore like Conan and felt afraid to get close to the other party. But knowing that the Black Organization's third in command might not be completely loyal to the organization made her feel strangely satisfied.

After Yuga Hano's death, the police officers were in disarray.

"How come he's targeted by snipers?" Megumi Aiko looked like she was about to collapse. "This is an ordinary case, right? How did Yuga Hano attract the attention of snipers?"

"I don't know." Takagi also looked completely confused.

"Either way, don't move before it's declared safe." Sato Miwako warned these two people and felt a faint headache.

It wouldn't be so easy to deal with these people.

Inspector Megure sent people to check the location, but the place had been cleaned up and there was no trace left. They could only try to find the surveillance camera and also other traces that the other party might have left there.

"Check Yuga Hano's phone. He said that he had the contact of the two people who are trading with him. We'll try to check from there."

"Yes!"

At this time, Kami Shita saw the message from no. 1 and quickly yelled at the police officer who was holding the evidence bag. "His face is fake!"

The next moment, several pairs of eyes turned to look at the police officer and what followed was a great scramble.

Kami Shita watched the fun while Conan's small body couldn't participate.

The man was apprehended, but he killed himself in the next moment with a poison that he hid between his teeth.

The decisiveness startled the police officers and they started to feel that this case was unusual.
