"You've got to stop spontaneously producing so many clown-themed items Harley," Pamela said flatly. "Otherwise, my plants are going to mysteriously appear and start eating them."
Harley shrugged, shoulders rising and falling in exaggerated innocence. "You have plants that you control?"
Pamela tilted her head, incredulous. "Have you not been paying attention this entire time?"
Harley waved a hand dismissively. "Eh."
Barbara let out a low groan and rubbed her temple. "Come on, Harley."
Harley leaned forward mischievously. "Show me with the clown car. Let's see what your plants can do."
Pamela exhaled, raising her left arm. The Midnight Rose bracelet shimmered faintly against her wrist as she stretched her hand toward the damp floor. From the walls of the sewer lair, vines twitched and writhed, pulling taut like muscles under the earth. A deep rumble vibrated beneath the parked sedan.
With a violent crack, a massive rosebud exploded upward from the ground, its petals swelling as thorns glistened like sharpened teeth. The bloom unfurled with a hungry creak, revealing thorn-lined jaws that lunged forward.
The clown car screeched and crumpled beneath its bite. Metal shrieked and snapped as the rose clamped down. Within seconds, the vehicle disappeared into the petals, crushed and swallowed whole. The flower folded closed, then wilted, dissolving into dust without leaving a dent in the concrete floor.
Harley whistled low, walking over to inspect the spot. "Your flower didn't even make a hole in the ground. I'm impressed."
Pamela rolled her eyes and folded her arms. "Is that really what you're impressed by?"
Barbara studied the unmarked concrete, then nodded seriously. "That is really impressive, actually."
Pamela shrugged. "Whatever. At least I have a way to get rid of these spontaneous clown things now."
She gestured toward the darker corners of the lair, where roots snaked silently through cracks in the wall. "My plants eat whatever I feed them. They've already killed hundreds of rodents down here, spreading further under Gotham every day."
Harley leaned forward, intrigued but uneasy. "Wait. Are you seriously taking over the entire sewer system?"
Pamela smiled with quiet confidence. "Of course. I don't want anyone stumbling into our lair. And I'd like to clean out the low-level villains lurking down here. That rat man, for example. If he comes near, he'll be plant food."
Barbara raised an eyebrow. "Damn, Pamela, that's ruthless."
Pamela shrugged lightly. "What? He's a rat man. That's disgusting."
Harley jabbed a finger in agreement. "She's got a point. Gotham doesn't need rodent-themed freaks."
Barbara's brow furrowed as she recalled a name. "You're talking about Ratcatcher."
Pamela nodded once. "Exactly. If he shows his face here, he dies."
Harley straightened, hands on her hips as she surveyed the lair. "So are you girls really going to bring this place up to date with tech and all that?"
Barbara pointed to a cleared section of concrete. "That corner will be my lab. Advanced systems, gadgets for our henchwomen, and tech we can market under the company. Above us is an abandoned district. Once I buy the land, we'll demolish it and build a skyscraper. That will be the front—while Midnight Mayhem rules below."
Pamela stepped beside her, voice rising with excitement. "We'll revitalize the whole block. Businesses, fake owners, entire shell networks. We'll run everything from the shadows."
Harley blinked at them both. "You two are seriously business-minded."
Pamela's lips curved faintly. "Being evil isn't about chaos anymore. It's about profit."
Harley let out a low whistle. "I'm learning new things every second with you two. Joker never plans for profit. He just robs a bank, blows up the cash, and laughs."
Barbara turned to Harley, her expression sharpening. "Does the Joker have any money sitting around?"
Harley leaned back against the sedan, her grin sly. "Funny you mention that."
