The Next Day
"What do you mean?!, isn't there supposed to be up to four days left?". I asked Mai as soon as I received a call which destroyed my plan.
She had told me that tomorrow would be the day for the final experimenting. Meaning it was hastened.
"Yeah I'm just as shocked as you are, ...anyway I figured out I should let you know ". She replied.
I sighed and continued
"How did you get this info....
"Is that really important now?". I didn't reply.
"What's important now is getting to your friends on time". She said.
*She's right, but Sam hasn't sent the documents yet*. I sighed again.
*Arggghh!, this is ruining my plan*.
"Hello, are you still there Xan?". Mai asked.
"Yeah I am, I'm just thinking". I replied after a moment.
"Thinking about what?". She asked.
"About how this is ruining my plan". I answered truthfully.
"Well don't worry because I'm going to help you ". She replied.
"How?". I asked.
"All you need to do is to go today instead of tomorrow, sneaking in today will be a lot easier....
"Cause..?".
"Well the party of course, dad and many of the research lab officials would be coming to the party".
*Oh right, a party I heard about it from some maids,.. to commemorate some new building, a lab or something like that,... how up, lab?!*.
"Wasn't it a lab...
"Yep, this same research facility". Mai answered almost instantly.
"What the...., what are they planning?".
"To find more potential investors, I think ".
"But they already have enough,..
"Why'd you say so?".
"Funding such research takes way more than my dad's net worth, underground layers, soundproof titanium walls, gigantic mechanics , those are way more than my dad could afford except he had some sort of backing ".
"Isn't your dad the pride of Cain's empire..?". Mai asked.
"Yeah, he is involved in technological research as well and even the manufacture and sale of such products, only problem is the last time I check his individual net worth it was a little around twenty billion,". I paused before continuing.
"And I know for a fact that he won't foolishly spend company funds on an illegal experiment".
"Wow bravo, what an amazing speech!, I guess you're not as dense as I thought ". Mai clapped.
"I'll take that as a compliment, ...no one has ever called me dense before ".
"Of course I'm so sorry prince Xan, your highness ". Mai replied sarcastically.
"I mean how could I call someone..no,no,no a thirteen years old who didn't get on his knees and start crying when he heard he's friends were lab rats, who didn't show a single sign of fear for planning to go against his elders, how could I call such a person dense!, my bad".

"I don't usually cry and I'm fourteen by the way, also if going against those stupid elders is the only way to prevent injustice, then so be it!". I clenched my fist.
"My, my, how heroic ".
"I'll call you around nightfall to smoothen the plan, please always be prepared for a call". I said.
"Of course!, try not to die on me". Mai cut the call after those words.
"Die on her..?, what a crazy way to say stay safe ". I stared down at my phone.
Something kept bugging me, how does Mai have some much info?.
This kept me thinking if she was a part of the research , but then why'd she help me.
An information broker who asked for exorbitant prices for little info's would just had this over for free and even bother to help me, postponing her trip preparations just for me..?
Does she have anything she's hiding..?, is she feeling guilty about something?.
I don't even know if I can trust what she's saying, after all even though a lot of strange things are happening, I haven't heard from any other one, who else do I even have to tell me?.
I decided to put my trust in her, but I knew that in every truth was a little lie. I need to be wary, once I leave this place with Linda and Max I can finally brea....
"Whatcha thinking about..?".
Haa!". I nearly jumped up.
"Xavier what the hell!, don't go spooking me like that, couldn't you knock?!". I frowned as I found Xavier behind me.
"I did but you were up in your head and didn't respond, so I came in". He smiled.
"What'd you want?". I asked.
"I wanted to tell you it's time for breakfast". Xavier replied.
"Seriously..?, that's why you startled me... FYI I already knew it's that time so please leave ".
"Okay, see ya soon ". Xavier walked towards the door.
"Wait!". I stopped him.
"I see your face has healed, that's a relief,.. I'm sorry for punching you the other day, I know you completely deserved it but I still wanted to apologize". I said.
"It's okay bro, I should be the one apologizing, I mess up a lot and leave you and our parents to clean it up, that's wrong of me, I'm gravely sorry". He bowed a little and apologized.
*I'm shocked, this is the first time I've seen Xavy apologize so sincerely*.
I gave him a little smile and a nod.

"Xavy, how would you like to follow me on my trip?". I asked.
*This is the best, we could both escape while he's turning a new leaf*.

"Yeah, you have your own solution and I have mine". Xavier smiled and walked out

"Solution...?". I muttered.
At the end I went down for breakfast

"You've successfully made me loose my appetite ". I stood up.
"Enjoy your breakfast ". I turned and walked to my room.
"Xander, Xander, come back". My mom called out to me but I just walked up the stairs.
"What happened to Xander, he was never like this". My mom sighed.
*What happened is that I don't have time to deal with a bastard like him who would hurt little kids for his selfish gain...oh wait, mom was also involved, maybe they're just birds of a feather*.
"Whatever, I'll be out of here in a day". I muttered entering my room.

That night, dad and mom had dolled up and went to the party, I had no clue as to Xavier's whereabouts.
*What a strange boy, wonder what he's up to*. I thought as I called Mai.
"Are you out of the house?". Mai asked almost instantly.
"Yes, I'm outside the research facility, I'm watching it from a safe distance across the street". I answered .
"The house was buzzing with guests so I used that time to sneak out". I continued.
"Wait!.... Where did you say you were". Mai asked voice shaking.
"Across the research facility, why?".
"How did you get there.., you trekked... right?". Mai asked.
"No, I drove here, anything wrong about that, m...
"I didn't know you had a driver's license, why didn't you tell me?". Mai interrupted me with another question.

"Am not?". I heard a voice from the car behind me and gulped.
*I just heard Anthony's voice... right?*.

"They're after us!!, I don't know how but they know, there's people at my apar.....
"Mai!, Mai!, Mai are you still there?". I called out but there was no response.
* I just heard the sound of a footsteps, is Mai okay*.
"Don't worry, I'll make this as painless as possible". I heard Anthony behind me.
"An....thony?". I turned around swiftly.
He wore a mask and had a spray in his hand.
"I'm sorry, but I work for your dad, not you". With that, he jerked at me.
Grabbing my hands tightly, he sprayed it directly at my face.
I fell to the ground coughing seriously as my vision blurred.
"Don't worry, you won't die".

I stopped coughing and I blacked out.

I looked up and saw a higher platform where my dad and his 'benefactors' sat staring down at us.
"Who're you? And what'd you want with us?". I asked.
"Wow, you're really as they say, so calm and collected". He complimented me.
"So you found us out at the end".
*That's the only explanation as to why we're here, tied down while they look down at us, the only question is are they going... to kill us?*. I wondered.
"Of course, that was so easy, we have eyes all over the place". He answered me.
"...". I lowered my head and clenched my fists.
"Where's Linda?". I asked.
"Linda?, who's that..?". The guy ( Leo) turned and asked the others sitting.
"No clue". Deborah said.

All the people at the meeting were present with two others who joined them, they were all sitting except Mark who held a little control device in his hand and wore a lab coat.
Other than staying on a higher platform, a glass wall stood between them.

"Shut up!, you Bastard!!". I flew into a mad rage and shouted at him.
"No one speaks about my friend like that, especially not some psychopathic demon!". I frowned.
"Bastard..demon,..hahaha! I like you!". The guy smiled at me.
"Huh". I looked at him with shocked eyes.
"Stop it Leo, you're creeping the kid out". Another guy(Carlos) who sat beside him said.
"I can't help it, normally I'd have killed him by now out of anger, but I think he's an interesting guy".
"Enough!, pass me the gun".
*Huh, dad?*.
"Gun?, I don't take a gun wherever I'm going,do I look like a killer to you?". The guy (Leo) asked my dad with a frown.
"I have one with me". The other guy( Carlos) handed my dad a gun.
"Mai Cain, your sin of going against me and my research is punishable by death!".
"Huh?". I was dumbstruck sitting there looking at Mai who nodded and closed her eyes.
A silent bullet flew straight breaking the glass wall and straight at Mai.
"Mai..Mai?, Mai!!".
'Boom'.
Blood poured over my face and body.
I stared at Mai in horror.
Her head had blowed up, her body fell to the side with her hands still tied behind her back.
"That horrified look on your face is so delicious!, it makes me want to kill some one else". Leo said.
"I'm pretty sure Zayne was the one who killed her".
"You just killed.... your own niece!!, your blood relative for crying out loud!". I screamed at him.
"It's her fault for disobeying me, you were never meant to know because I knew your overbearing sense of justice would be a problem". He continued coldly.
"You caused her death, I hope you know that".
I struggled with my chair for a while before standing up.
"My fault...
*"Either way, you weren't meant to know, so what I'm doing now is considered treason to the family, but who cares, I'm going overseas in a week"*. I remembered Mai's words and her smile as she laid dead on the chair.

*Xavier.... he's here, so this is the solution he was talking about, joining their side*.
I just don't understand why anyone who side with them, is it because he didn't want to end up like Mai?.
Keeping my questions to myself, I turned around.
"What are these.....tanks?".
"What insolence!, these aren't any normal tubes, they're cylindrical, gla.....

"How dare you put your filthy hand over my lips, have you no respect for your elders!". Mark frowned adjusting his googles.
(Star78 : Forgot to mention but Xander wasn't wearing his glasses).
"My bad, I just didn't want to hear some nerdy stuff". Leo apologized.
I stared at the tubes intensely, five were filled with a black liquid and the others with a purple liquid making it hard to see in it.
But as I looked closely at the tanks closely I noticed people in them.
*It shouldn't be what I'm thinking, please!*. I ran towards the first tube.
"Linda?". My voice was shaky as I saw her in the tube.
The tube was connected with different small pipes to six other smaller tubes of blood, each kept pumping into the tube filling it up.
"Are all these blood?". I muttered staring at the little tubes.
Blue, black, purple,magenta,green and white were in the little tubes.
"Linda, Linda, Linda!!". I knocked on the glass like a madman.
"What are you doing, dumbass!, it won't budge". Leo shouted at me.
"Huh?".
I looked at the tube beside her, and saw Max.
"Max!". I ran over.
"Xan....DER". His voice was slow and weak, he barely managed to open his eyes.
"How's he still alive, the electric current should have already fried his brain". Carlos said shocked as they watched me and Max exchange words.
"That's amazing!, no wonder he's among our best three subjects!, I wonder what kind of demon he'll become!". Leo had a curious look on his face, while grinning from ear to ear.
"Don't worry Max, I'll save you". I said in a low tone because I wasn't sure if I could save him.
*The tubes seem to be made of some kind of strong glass, and the liquid was already in half of it, what do I do!*. I panicked.
But then an extremely stupid idea entered my head.
I ran over to a smaller tubes ( the blue one).
Squatting down, I punched a hole in it.
"What's he doing?". Leo asked.
Like I thought, it was way more weaker and the liquid started pouring out.
"Someone stop him!, this is bad!, I didn't reinforce those glasses, they easily break!". Mark shouted.
Three guards rushed in through a door close to the chairs.
*I didn't even know there was a door*.
As they rushed over towards me, panic flooded in causing me to move on to another crazy idea.
The blue, black and white tubes which I had broken, I bent down and licked it.
"What the fuck!!". Leo and the others gasped .
"Are you crazy?!". Xavier stood up.
"That's going to kill you!".
I stared down at my hands, my skin had turned pale and a excruciating pain filled me up. I fell to the ground breathing loudly.
"I can't...I can't stop here!". I kept on drinking every single drop that came out until a very unexpected outcome occured.
I started growing in size, I grew so large that the guards were froze in fear, while dad and his 'benefactors' stared at me in terror.
"This is bad, this is bad, this is real bad!!". Mark commented .
"Every researcher is to evacuate the lab, I repeat evacuate the lab, a huge monster is on a rampage!". Mark communicated with some other parts of the lab through a device.
"Relax Mark, there's no way he'll be able to break through our defences". Carlos calmed him down.
"Yeah ...yeah you're right, this underground layer is made up of st...
Mark's statement was cut short when I bust through the walls and ceiling and I headed straight at them.
My vision grew blurry and my head was a total mess. I had no idea on what happened next.
'Kaboom!' 'Kaboom'
At the end of the day, the only thing I was sure of was the loud sound after which the research facility collapsed and I lost consciousness.
