Chapter 355 - Captain America: Hail Hydra!

Captain America Rogers immediately noticed the people entering. Each one carried a malicious aura; having been to war, he was acutely sensitive to such vibes.

As the elevator descended another floor, more people entered.

At this point, he finally confirmed they were all targeting him. He sighed helplessly and asked, "Before we start, does anyone want to get off?"

At this moment, Rogers didn't yet know these people were Hydra. However, he was certain they belonged to a completely different faction from Nick Fury's—perhaps even the very enemies Fury had warned him about.

Yet, he had worked with these same people before, collaborating to take down terrorists on more than one occasion.

This was why he felt so helpless.

From his perspective, these people were merely following orders. He found it tragic: they were all on the same side, yet forced to fight to the death because of power struggles among their superiors.

In truth, he didn't even trust or like Nick Fury all that much.

Their ideologies were simply too far apart. Nick Fury always had a mountain of reasons to make him do things he never wanted to do.

In Rogers' eyes, Nick Fury was a politician full of dirty tricks, while he was just a simple soldier who only needed to be told where the enemy was and whether to eliminate them.

But whether it was Nick Fury or Alexander Pierce, both sides resorted to underhanded tactics in their struggle, repeatedly using their agents as pawns. Captain America Rogers knew this, but he was powerless to stop it. That didn't mean he could accept it, though.

Soon, the group made their move. A squad of Hydra agents attacked him all at once in the cramped space of the elevator. With the odds stacked against him, even Rogers' peak human physique was initially overwhelmed.

But they still underestimated him. After a fierce struggle, Rogers defeated them all despite their combined effort. Yet Hydra refused to let him go, immediately dispatching a special ops team to hunt him down.

Captain America Rogers was strong, but that didn't make him immune to bullets.

To everyone's astonishment, Captain America Rogers smashed through the elevator's glass and leaped from the skyscraper.

He used the Vibranium Shield's energy-absorbing properties to cushion his impact, absorbing the brunt of the force as he slammed into the ground.

The Hydra agents witnessed this and were left dumbfounded. Even the audience watching the footage was stunned.

Among them, only Thor might possess the physical attributes to pull this off; Hulk could also leap from such a height without batting an eye.

The others, though elite agents, would either die or be permanently crippled by a fall from that height.

Seizing the opportunity, Captain America Rogers roared out of the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters on a motorcycle, leaving the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents staring in disbelief.

Just then, a Quinjet urgently launched, intercepting him.

"Stand down, Captain Rogers! Stand down! Repeat, stand down!"

The Quinjet immediately opened fire on him with its nose cannon. But in a stunning display of tactical brilliance, Captain America shot it down from the sky.

Such a feat was far beyond the capabilities of any ordinary human.

Tony Stark, watching from the sidelines, couldn't help but gape. His expression mirrored the Hydra agent's sheer disbelief.

*What the hell!*

He suddenly understood why Lin Feng called Captain America Rogers the "Elevator God of War."

The raw power on display was far more shocking than anything Thor or Hulk ever did. While they were undoubtedly stronger, people had already mentally categorized them as something other than human.

*If they're not normal humans, then being that strong makes sense.*

But the problem was—the absolutely mind-boggling part was—Captain America Rogers *was* human.

Using a normal human as the benchmark for combat ability, Rogers' physical condition was simply absurd.

Take Tony Stark, for example. He worked out and even hired a fighting coach, but he was still just a relatively strong ordinary man. In a real fight, even Black Widow could beat him senseless.

And yet, Rogers had just jumped from several stories high and was already recovering after only a brief moment of discomfort.

Anyone else would have been paralyzed at best, or even died on the spot.

Tony Stark knew the Vibranium Shield absorbed shockwaves and minimized damage, but this was still absurd.

He'd never considered Captain America's combat prowess to be truly broken before—even fighting the Chitauri, it hadn't seemed that extreme. But now, he felt it: Rogers was definitely a bit broken.

"Captain, can you actually do that?" Quicksilver Pietro asked, stunned. "Whoa, that is so cool."

"I don't know. I guess I can," Rogers replied with a wry smile. He wasn't entirely sure how he'd managed it, but he knew one thing for certain: pulling off such a feat was no easy task.

In fact, it was something he would only do as a last resort in an emergency. Who would jump like that under normal circumstances?

Yet, a suspicion stirred in his mind. He suspected the Super Soldier Serum's potential went far beyond what he had already tapped into. His progress had been halted for seventy years. He'd only experienced a significant boost in his combat abilities during the few years he fought after the initial injection. Then he was frozen in ice, only to awaken two years ago.

His strength had truly improved. In fact, he was now absolutely stronger than he had been seventy years ago, and he would likely become even stronger in the future. This was the true power of the Super Soldier Serum.

Though he couldn't compare to Lin Feng, who had cheated his way to godhood, he was still terrifying by human standards.

But before everyone could marvel further at Captain America Rogers' astonishing performance, the scene shifted again. A new clip appeared, showing a more mature-looking Rogers pressing an elevator button.

The scene cut to the inside of the elevator, where Hydra agents were reporting to Alexander Pierce.

"We have the evidence!" a bald Hydra agent announced. "Next, we rendezvous with Dr. List!"

"No, there were no obstacles at all, Mr. Secretary-General!"

Just then, the elevator doors slid open, and Captain America Rogers stepped inside.

At the sight of Captain America, the Hydra agents were taken aback, their tension palpable.

"Captain, I thought you were supervising the rescue operation!" the bald agent said.

"Plans changed," Captain America Rogers replied calmly.

He stepped into the center of the group, and the Hydra agents around him stiffened, their expressions darkening as they considered whether to strike.

His timing couldn't have been worse.

Under normal circumstances, his presence might have been manageable. But not now. Not with the Scepter—the artifact brought by an alien god, capable of controlling minds. For Hydra, what could be a more perfect tool for brainwashing?

Tension surged through the room. The agents were already weighing whether to launch a preemptive strike if Captain America tried to seize the Scepter.

Meanwhile, the audience watching the screen was stunned. *What are those Hydra agents holding? The Scepter? We recognize that briefcase!*

*When is this happening?*

"When did Hydra get their hands on the Scepter? This must be from the Sacred Timeline," Coulson remarked. "In our timeline, Hydra tried to get it but failed. But on the Sacred Timeline, we didn't even know they were Hydra. If Pierce had ordered it, we might have handed it over. But what's Captain America doing here?"

From the conversation, everyone had a rough idea of the timing: it was 2012, during the Battle of New York. They had defeated Loki and seized the Mind Stone Scepter from him, only for Hydra to deceive them and take it away.

If that was the case, they could understand. But what was with this Captain America Rogers?

Were they about to fight again?

Everyone instantly pieced together the chronological order of the two scenes: one took place shortly after the Battle of New York, and the other was likely when S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra finally turned on each other.

Captain America Rogers' strange behavior at this moment filled everyone with doubt.

*Was there something that happened after the Battle of New York on the Sacred Timeline that they didn't know about?*

Everyone felt a bit frustrated and clueless. They really resented Lin Feng for not explaining anything clearly, leaving them completely in the dark. It was truly exasperating.

"Captain!" Crossbones spoke up, trying to confirm if Captain America Rogers had truly discovered their plan. His hand was already on his gun, ready to strike at any moment.

"Rumlow?" Captain America asked.

He had noticed the unusual movements. With his keen senses, he had easily spotted them.

Fighting them was no problem. He had easily taken them down before, so what made this time any different?

"I just got a call from the Secretary-General. I'm taking charge of the Scepter now!" Captain America Rogers announced, leaving everyone stunned.

They were all speechless, unable to comprehend why this was happening. After all, they knew exactly who they were—they were Hydra. But Captain America Rogers wasn't. Why would Alexander Pierce use him instead of them? It made no sense.

The only possible explanation was that Captain America was bluffing.

"Sir, I don't understand what you mean," the bald agent said.

Captain America Rogers replied calmly, "I've received intel that someone is coming to steal it!"

"I'm sorry, Captain, but we can't hand the Scepter over to you!" Crossbones rejected him immediately.

*What a joke,* he thought. *What kind of excuse is that?* He didn't believe a word of it. It was obvious he didn't trust Captain America.

"I need to call the Director," the bald agent said.

"Go ahead. Trust me," Captain America said impassively.

Then he leaned in and whispered into the bald agent's ear, "Hail Hydra!"

The bald agent stared at Captain America in shock, unable to believe it. Captain America was one of them.
