The enraged Obito Uchiha could restrain himself no longer and charged at Hoshikawa .
Wood Release: Impalement!
Seeing Hoshikawa stand motionless, Obito punched out, his face contorted with murderous intent. In an instant, his skin writhed, and sharp, twisted wooden spikes protruded from his arm, aggressively spreading outward.
Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet Technique!
Hoshikawa clapped his hands and spat out a water dragon.
But the moment it touched Obito Uchiha, his body seemed to turn transparent. The water dragon passed straight through him without causing any damage before flying harmlessly into the distance.
Obito Uchiha's body solidified once more, and the wooden spikes shot out like the sharpest kunai toward Hoshikawa .
Earth Release: Earth-Style Wall!
An earth wall rose up directly in front of Hoshikawa .
"It's useless!" Obito Uchiha's eyes flashed with triumph. "You don't understand the power of these eyes at all!"
Since enrolling in the Academy, he had always been overshadowed by Hoshikawa . But now, that was about to change. From this day forward, he would never lose to Hoshikawa again!
Obito Uchiha used Kamui to pass through the earth wall, only to be stunned. Hoshikawa was nowhere to be seen.
The onlookers watching from a distance showed expressions of bewilderment.
"What kind of ninjutsu was that?" Kurenai Yūhi couldn't help but ask.
"That... that looks like the legendary Wood Release!" Hizashi Hyūga's voice was filled with disbelief.
Compared to the bizarre Kamui, Wood Release captured their attention more. After all, this was only the second time a Wood Release user had appeared in the ninja world outside of Hashirama Senju.
"How can he use Wood Release? Is he a Senju ninja? But he has the Sharingan..." Kurenai Yūhi's mind raced with confusion.
Rin Nohara looked on with worry for Hoshikawa . As for Obito Uchiha, with Zetsu's control changing his physique, voice, and appearance, she naturally hadn't recognized him.
"Do you think you can run away?!"
Obito Uchiha scanned his surroundings and quickly spotted Hoshikawa not far away. His face was a hideous mix of hatred and exhilaration. The once unbeatable Hoshikawa was now forced to flee before him.
Kamui!
Obito Uchiha looked at Hoshikawa , and his left eye violently shuddered. Space warped.
Hoshikawa immediately felt his left arm being pulled.
It was indeed Double Kamui.
Bang!
Hoshikawa vanished in a puff of smoke.
This was merely a Shadow Clone, used to confirm the nature of Obito's Mangekyō Sharingan Dōjutsu.
"Get back here!"
Obito Uchiha froze for a moment, then flew into a rage again.
Suddenly, the sound of water began to rush. Obito Uchiha subconsciously turned. As far as his eye could see, there was nothing but seawater. Guided by Hoshikawa 's chakra, it erupted with terrifying force, and waves several meters high rose around him.
"I told you this is useless against me!"
Obito Uchiha's right eye spun rapidly, and his body phased to intangibility, ignoring the giant waves.
The waves rolled and subsided, ultimately forming an enormous, oval-shaped body of water. This was Water Release: Great Exploding Water Colliding Wave!
"You think you're so great? Why are you still hiding?" Obito Uchiha stood on the water's surface, searching for Hoshikawa 's trace.
Just then, the water surface churned, and a water dragon formed.
"There!"
Obito Uchiha ignored the water dragon and plunged into the water.
Wood Release: Demonic Mayhem!
A massive surge of chakra erupted, and several colossal trees sprang up around him. The gigantic trees twisted and spiraled as if alive, their sharp thorns destroying everything in their path.
Water Release: Water Body Flicker Technique!
Hoshikawa 's body turned into a puddle of water, ignoring all physical attacks.
"Damn it!" Obito Uchiha couldn't help but curse angrily. Even such a wide-range Wood Release ninjutsu had failed to hit Hoshikawa .
"We can't fight him in the water." A-Fei, the possessing White Zetsu, warned him.
"Shut up!"
Obito Uchiha leaped and swam toward the surface.
"Care..."
But A-Fei's warning was cut short as Obito Uchiha cried out in pain.
Three silent water needles struck him in the chest. A-Fei quickly pulled out the needles and healed Obito Uchiha's body.
Water Release: Heaven's Tears! required no hand signs, was small, and incredibly fast. Even A-Fei hadn't been able to give a timely warning.
"Bastard! I'll kill you!" Obito Uchiha was furious that he could still be injured by Hoshikawa even after acquiring Kamui.
"Under your feet!" A-Fei's voice was urgent and sharp.
Obito Uchiha used Kamui without thinking. Countless bullet-like water spheres penetrated his intangible body.
Obito Uchiha sprang up, flying high into the air. He looked down at the ocean and breathed a sigh of relief, but quickly felt a headache coming on. Hoshikawa was hidden beneath the vast water; Obito had no way to attack him. He couldn't use Kamui to absorb the entire ocean; he didn't have that much chakra.
Obito Uchiha gritted his teeth, suddenly thinking of Hizashi Hyūga and Kurenai Yūhi, who were watching the battle. This was the only way to force Hoshikawa to show himself.
He took two steps, and the sea surface stirred.
Water Release: Water Dragon Biting Explosion!
A massive water vortex appeared, rising to form a gigantic water dragon.
Obito Uchiha snorted and phased through it.
But the subsequent events left him dumbfounded. Water Release ninjutsu began to erupt one after another without pause. In the sky, they blossomed like fireworks. Obito Uchiha continuously dodged, remaining unscathed, but felt an unprecedented level of frustration.
How could his hand seal speed be so fast?
Why?
Obito Uchiha's eyes turned red with fury. Despite having obtained the invincible Mangekyō Sharingan, he was still being chased around. Unconsciously, the fear of being dominated by Hoshikawa returned.
On the distant mountain.
"This kind of Water Release really counters Obito," Madara Uchiha said, frowning slightly.
Truthfully, Obito Uchiha's Mangekyō Sharingan Dōjutsu had given him a great surprise. Spatial Dōjutsu was usually unbeatable, and Obito had acquired two at once.
He was simply unlucky to have run into Hoshikawa . Obito Uchiha could rely on Kamui to ignore Hoshikawa 's Water Release, but his own ninjutsu couldn't hit Hoshikawa either.
The standoff could only end in one of two ways: either Hoshikawa ran out of chakra or Obito Uchiha ran out of ocular power.
"Ultimately, Obito's offensive capabilities are too lacking," White Zetsu said, shaking its head. "If it were Lord Madara, victory would have been achieved by now."
"His Dōjutsu is too strong, making it easy for arrogance to take root. A setback is a good thing," Madara Uchiha said calmly.
Above the sea.
"Dammit!" Obito Uchiha roared. "Are you only capable of being a coward?!"
"Calm down, Obito." A-Fei shouted a warning.
As he spoke, Obito Uchiha dodged yet another water dragon.
I can't lose!
Why should I lose?!
Driven by sheer obsession, Obito Uchiha finally regained some clarity. The solution now was to force Hoshikawa out, then use Kamui to finish him. Whether by dragging him into the Kamui dimension or using the long-range teleportation to twist his body, he could win!
Obito Uchiha had a flash of inspiration. Space warped, and his body vanished.
Hoshikawa frowned. Obito Uchiha had entered the Kamui dimension, meaning he couldn't be attacked. The biggest problem, however, was not knowing where he would reappear. If he used this time to attack Kurenai and the others, things would be bad.
Hoshikawa quickly formed a plan. He formed hand signs, creating two Shadow Clones.
Bang!
One Shadow Clone leaped up, appearing in the air.
"Die!"
Behind him, space rippled, and Obito Uchiha reappeared. He punched the clone, and countless sharp wooden spikes erupted, piercing it with holes of varying sizes.
But no blood flowed out.
Obito Uchiha paused momentarily, then instantly used Kamui for intangibility.
The next second, a ninja sword shimmering with lightning flashed horizontally through his body.
Obito Uchiha reacted quickly, dodging, and the wooden spikes on his body instantly grew wild.
Wood Release: Demonic Mayhem!
A towering tree grew rapidly, and countless vines coiled and wrapped around Hoshikawa .
"What?!" Hoshikawa 's expression changed slightly, and lightning chakra erupted around him.
The piercing sound of birds chirping rang out as the lightning spread outward. However, the lightning had little effect upon touching the vines, which immediately wrapped tightly around him.
"I win this time!" Obito Uchiha wore a triumphant smile. He pulled out a kunai and aimed it at Hoshikawa 's throat.
"Wait!" A-Fei suddenly detected a problem, but it was already too late.
Chidori Stream!
Body Flicker Technique!
Lightning Release Body!
Lava Release: Rasengan!
Using the sound of the Shadow Clone's Chidori Stream! as cover, the original Hoshikawa completed his attack in an instant. His speed reached its absolute limit, undetectable by the naked eye. In a flash, he appeared behind Obito Uchiha, slamming a spinning sphere of condensed lava chakra onto his back.
The black robe instantly spun into shreds, revealing the white skin beneath. This was White Zetsu. However, under the attack of the Lava Release, the Zetsu quickly melted and charred, finally reaching Obito Uchiha's true skin.
His flesh, nerves, and blood vessels were all severely burned.
"Aaaargh!"
Obito Uchiha let out a howl of agony. The intense pain nearly caused him to lose consciousness.
Hoshikawa didn't hesitate. He pulled out the Lightning Fire Blade and aimed for Obito's neck.
In the critical moment, White Zetsu forcibly controlled Obito Uchiha's body to dodge.
Blood sprayed. Although Zetsu's movement was fast, it was a fraction too slow. The Lightning Fire Blade easily sliced off Obito Uchiha's shoulder, and blood poured out like a waterfall.
As Hoshikawa prepared to attack again, his face suddenly changed slightly. Two kunai, flying from an unknown direction, streaked toward him at incredible speed, infused with terrifying sharpness.
Hoshikawa decisively retreated.
A figure blocked the path to Obito Uchiha. A crimson light flashed.
Hoshikawa 's body instantly froze, pulled into a specialized Genjutsu space. Giant iron spikes descended from above, attempting to pin down his limbs.
This was Demonic Illusion: Shackling Stakes Technique! Executed by the Sharingan, it was the low-cost version of the Tsukuyomi.
Hoshikawa clapped his hands and dispelled the Genjutsu in less than a second. This was thanks to the resistance provided by the B-rank title 'Seven-Element Special Jōnin'.
"You are quite remarkable." Madara Uchiha said with a hint of surprise. The number of ninja who could dispel his Genjutsu that quickly could be counted on one hand.
Hoshikawa steadied himself. Standing before him was the white-haired, seemingly ancient Madara Uchiha. Though it was only a Shadow Clone, Hoshikawa dared not let his guard down.
Hoshikawa glanced aside. The severely wounded Obito Uchiha had retreated into the Kamui dimension and vanished. With the Lava Release: Rasengan! hitting his back and the Lightning Fire Blade slicing off his shoulder, even with White Zetsu, it would take him months to recover.
"We will meet again." Madara Uchiha's body vanished. It was only a Shadow Clone, and there was no need to waste chakra. The most important thing now was Obito Uchiha. If anything happened to him, years of planning would be wasted.
Madara Uchiha quickly reappeared in a remote grove. After waiting for a moment, a White Zetsu emerged from the ground.
"A-Fei is currently treating Obito," White Zetsu reported. "Although he is severely wounded, his life was saved."
"Take me to him." Madara Uchiha felt somewhat relieved.
"Yes." White Zetsu led the way.
A few minutes later, Madara Uchiha found Obito Uchiha inside a cave. As he approached, he heard weeping.
Madara Uchiha paused. Was he that badly shaken? Upon reflection, it made sense: Rin Nohara, whom Obito Uchiha loved most, had rushed into Hoshikawa 's embrace, and worse, Obito had lost to his rival. He had lost completely, both personally and in battle.
"Crying like a child, how undignified?" Madara Uchiha stepped forward and demanded in a deep voice, "Do you intend to surrender just like that?"
"Of course not!" Obito Uchiha wiped his tears and shouted.
"Do you know why you lost?" Madara Uchiha suddenly changed the subject.
"Why?" Obito Uchiha quickly asked. He truly couldn't understand why he still couldn't beat Hoshikawa even after awakening the Mangekyō Sharingan.
"It's not that Hoshikawa is too strong; it's that you are too weak!" Madara Uchiha sneered. "You haven't even utilized one-tenth of the Mangekyō Sharingan's power!"
One-tenth? Obito Uchiha was stunned. Am I really that pathetic?
"The way you fought Hoshikawa was like a laughable Genin, completely without discipline!" Madara Uchiha said, his voice laced with displeasure.
He had watched the entire battle. Obito Uchiha, in his rage, fought incredibly poorly. If Kamui hadn't been so overpowered, he would have died countless times over. Hoshikawa , by contrast, had perfectly utilized his advantages and compensated for his weaknesses.
Yet, Madara Uchiha harbored a suspicion. He felt that Hoshikawa understood Obito Uchiha's Mangekyō Sharingan too well. But this was clearly impossible. The Dōjutsu of every Mangekyō Sharingan was unique; no one could have guessed it in advance. The only explanation was that Hoshikawa possessed terrifying combat instincts and quickly found the weakness in Obito Uchiha's Dōjutsu.
His loss was deserved.
Madara Uchiha looked at the teary-eyed Obito Uchiha and asked, "What do you plan to do next?"
"There is nothing left in this ninja world that I wish to cling to." Obito Uchiha thought of Rin Nohara protecting Hoshikawa and said wildly, "I want to create a new world!"
"Excellent." A faint smile appeared on Madara Uchiha's face. "Then let me teach you how to do just that."
His plan had finally returned to its intended course.
