(3rd person POV)
The sea thrashed wildly and winds howled and formed water spouts as Alex churned the hurricane more and more. Marco and the other commanders of Whitebeards divisions all looked gravely at the storm raging around them. It was only Whitebeards own calm that kept them from acting rashly. Soon the storm reached it's peak before everything paused. The wind vanished, the sea went still and the clouds stiffened. The orb of lightning dead center of the eye of the storm pulsed and all the clouds and lightning began to rush towards it. -
Soon the sky was clear of all clouds with the sole exception of the miles wide pulsing churning orb of brightly crackling lightning filled cloud. Then it began to fall. Not a slow descent fueled by gravity but a rapid targeted launching. Marco fully turned into his phoenix form and screeched as his flames blazed as brightly as he could get. His body shot upwards as he threw his entire power into his attack. The impact sent out a shockwave that shook the sea beneath it. The orb erupted upon being struck and the full might of a hurricane pressed down on him with armament and conqueror's haki viciously tearing into him.-
The crew below watched in shock as his flaming body was repeatedly torn to pieces and reformed under the relentless but slowly shrinking orb. Finally though the orb bursts into a deluge of water that forces his devil fruit to an inactive state and made him helplessly get drawn by gravity to slam down onto the deck of the ship alongside the thoroughly spent form of Alex.-
(Normal POV)
"Ugh, that fruit of yours is so unfair yo." Marco groaned as he stood up from the drenched deck.
"Says the guy that effectively tanked a hurricanes full power to the face." I wheezed unable to move as my entire body was flat out done listening.
"Do you have any idea how hard I trained to get this strong? It took me years yo. Meanwhile your fruit just lets you have so much power right out the gate, it's unfair yo." he complained.
"Not just the fruit." I say honestly.
"What else is there?" he asked confused.
"The spear, it amplifies my fruits power. Without it I couldn't get even close without a lot more time to train." I explained tiredly.
"Anyway I can get something like that yo?" he asked as he grabbed me off the ground and tossed me over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
"Can't say for sure. Don't know any artifacts that would work for a Phoenix like that, might be possible eventually." I said too tired to even consider struggling.
I got set on one of the chairs on the deck near Whitebeard by Marco after that and the old man just grinned at me.
"Dangerous little trick you pulled. This old man thought he might need to step in for a moment there." the guy said with a grin.
"Been nothing but theory until now, never had a chance to try it. Could have failed, almost did." I said honestly.
"Gurarara! But that's what it's all about brat! Pushing your limits until you can't anymore and shattering all obstacles in your way. That's the path of a pirate!" he said as he took a swig of a large earthenware jug.
"Sounds tiring." I muttered with a chuckle.
"It can be. But the way I see it once you power through the whole worlds yours for the taking, any dream you have can be achieved!" He said with a massive smile.
I just sighed at that and chose to get some rest. Couldn't tell you what happened next as by the time I woke up it was the next day and I was sore literally EVERYWHERE. I had pushed my body into the red with the sheer strain I put it under and was paying for it now. I groaned as I got up from the bed I found myself in and looked at my arms in confusion. The bandages on them had been swapped out with plain cotton ones that smelled heavily of some sort of medicine.-
"Pops told me about that but I've never seen anything quite like it yo." a voice said and I looked up to see Marco coming into the room with a tray of food.
"I got careless and paid for it." I said honestly.
"You don't know?" he said surprised.
"Know what?" I asked confused.
"The scars in your arms glow with lightning. Never seen a fruit users body do anything like it before. Thought it must be painful so I put some numbing ointment on it yo." he said seriously.
I chuckled "I appreciate the thought but it doesn't hurt anymore. Hasn't for some time." I said frankly.
"Then why wear bandages instead of gloves or the like?" he asked confused.
I shrugged "I like the way they look and feel. That's why the ones you took off me are made of such high quality materials." I explained amused.
