Kurotsuki Renya's nerves spread endlessly throughout the colossal body of Gerard Valkyrie.
They extended for thousands of meters, threading through every layer of reishi, infiltrating every structure of his existence. Information flowed continuously decoded, analyzed, absorbed.
Strength. Durability. Reaction speed.
And most importantly
Composition.
Gerard was no longer flesh. He was a being entirely composed of spirit particles pure reishi given form through the power of The Miracle.
Renya's body responded immediately.
At first, the enhancements were straightforward.
His already overwhelming physical strength, reflexes, and durability rose once more but the increase was marginal. He had already approached the upper threshold of Shinigami evolution. Further gains in raw physicality yielded diminishing returns.
So the transformation shifted.
From enhancement…
To fundamental reconstruction.
In the Soul Society, all matter is composed of reishi. Souls, Shinigami, even the environment everything exists as structured spirit particles.
However, there is a critical distinction.
Shinigami are not pure reishi entities.
They are structured spiritual bodies reishi given stable, material-like form.
Gerard, in contrast
Was pure composition.
A being closer to the raw state of existence itself.
Renya chose to follow that path.
His body began to dissolve.
Not into nothingness
But into perfectly controlled reishi.
Every cell broke apart and reassembled, transforming into a higher-density spiritual structure. His form stabilized again, now entirely composed of spirit particles, yet far more refined than Gerard's.
His height adjusted slightly his proportions perfected.
His spiritual pressure surged.
It crossed the limit.
The boundary that defined Shinigami evolution… shattered.
If Captain-class reiatsu existed within a defined scale
Then Renya had stepped beyond it.
Yet
Something was missing.
At the center of his chest
There was no core.
No heart capable of stabilizing what he was becoming.
Renya's gaze turned inward.
Toward the power he had already obtained.
The Hōgyoku.
"The Miracle alone is insufficient," Renya murmured.
The ability to convert misfortune into advantage was absolute but unstable without a proper vessel.
Gerard possessed the fragment of the Soul King's heart a divine anchor capable of sustaining that power.
Renya did not.
Not yet.
His nerves attempted to replicate it.
They analyzed The Miracle.
Decoded it.
Understood it.
But they could not recreate it.
Because a heart…
Was not merely structure.
It was authority.
So Renya made a decision.
"Hōgyoku…"
His voice resonated within himself.
"Abandon your current form. Integrate. Become my core."
The Hōgyoku responded.
It had always possessed one fundamental property:
The ability to materialize desire.
To read the will of its host and reshape reality accordingly.
It had allowed Sōsuke Aizen to transcend Shinigami and Hollow boundaries.
It had granted evolution beyond natural law.
Now
It changed again.
The Hōgyoku dissolved.
Merged.
Combined with the essence of The Miracle.
And reformed
As Renya's heart.
Thump.
Thump.
Thump.
Each beat echoed like a law being written into existence.
Power surged not as raw force, but as authority over possibility itself.
Two abilities unified.
The Miracle the conversion of all adversity into strength.
Wish Manifestation the realization of desire into reality.
Renya opened his eyes.
Lightning surged across his body, cascading outward in violent arcs.
Gerard's form was engulfed torn apart at the most fundamental level.
"I will not die!" Gerard roared.
His body exploded into countless particles of light
Then began to reform again.
From afar
"He regenerated again…" Shunsui Kyōraku muttered.
"Even that wasn't enough?" Byakuya Kuchiki frowned.
Despair crept in.
But then
Something changed.
The reishi gathering in the air
Stopped.
Collapsed.
Dispersed.
Gerard Valkyrie
Did not return.
Renya stepped forward, his expression calm.
"It's over."
Silence followed.
Then
"How?" Mayuri Kurotsuchi demanded, eyes wide with manic curiosity. "Explain the mechanism."
Renya smiled faintly.
"You're asking the wrong question."
He continued:
"You're thinking in terms of destruction. But Gerard cannot be killed through conventional means."
Mayuri narrowed his eyes.
"Then what did you do?"
Renya answered simply:
"I changed his nature."
A pause.
Then
"I hollowfied him."
Understanding dawned instantly.
Quincy are fundamentally incompatible with Hollow power.
Even minimal contamination destabilizes their existence.
That is why techniques like Hollowfication and tools such as Hollow-based countermeasures are lethal to Quincy physiology.
Gerard, despite being the Soul King's heart
Was still a Quincy.
His power still originated from Yhwach.
And so
Renya introduced Hollow essence directly into his core.
The result was inevitable.
Gerard's power rejected itself.
The Miracle collapsed.
His existence destabilized.
And he ceased to exist.
"…That's all?" Kyōraku exhaled.
"Ridiculous," Hitsugaya muttered.
"You scientists are monsters," Kyōraku added dryly.
Nearby, Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck tilted her head.
"You've changed again…"
Yoruichi Shihōin stepped closer, inspecting him with interest.
"Not bad," she said, poking his cheek. "You've become… dangerously refined."
Renya ignored the comment.
"The battle isn't over," he said.
His gaze shifted toward the distance.
"Yhwach."
A moment later
He vanished.
Seireitei Central Battlefield
The clash between Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto and Sōsuke Aizen had reached its peak.
Flames and illusions intertwined.
Destruction layered upon deception.
Yhwach observed.
Then
He sensed it.
Lightning.
Approaching.
Rapidly.
"…So he's arrived," Yhwach murmured.
At that instant
Yamamoto and Aizen moved simultaneously.
Blades struck from both directions.
Yhwach reacted
Too late.
He opened his eyes.
Attempting to invoke
The Almighty.
But
Nothing happened.
A hand pierced through his back.
Lightning crackled violently.
Renya stood behind him.
"You won't be using that."
Yhwach's eyes widened.
For the first time
Uncertainty appeared.
Aizen's blade descended.
Yamamoto's flames followed.
Yhwach's body split
Then burned.
Reduced to nothing.
Silence fell.
"The Quincy King… is dead?" Kyōraku whispered.
But Yamamoto did not relax.
He stared at Aizen.
Then at Renya.
"This isn't over," he said.
Aizen smiled faintly.
"No… it isn't."
"Captain-Commander," he continued, "our agreement has been fulfilled."
"Agreement?" Soi Fon frowned.
Aizen turned slightly.
"It was Renya who arranged all of this."
Soi Fon's expression hardened.
"What are you planning?"
Aizen's answer was calm.
"I will be taken… to meet someone."
"Someone I intend to kill."
A pause.
Then he said it.
"The Soul King."
Shock.
"Impossible!" Yamamoto roared.
But then
Lightning flickered.
Renya appeared beside Aizen.
And spoke.
"That is correct."
His gaze lifted upward
Toward the heavens.
"I will kill the Soul King."
"And take his place."
