"Sigh... seriously? I never expected something like this from you, Scarlett."
Amon sat on one of the sofas in the mansion's sitting chamber, looking at her with genuine disbelief.
Scarlett calmly sat down beside him.
"Why not?" she asked. "You should have expected it. Don't forget that I was raised in a noble family. Even though spending years in the village changed me considerably, I was still taught how noble society works."
She crossed her legs and continued in a matter-of-fact tone.
"If something benefits our family, strengthens our position, or secures our future, then nobles are expected to consider it. Personal feelings aren't always placed above practical matters."
Amon stared at her.
"What kind of teaching is that? To accept your husband marrying multiple women for the sake of benefits?"
He shook his head.
"I'd never do something like that. It would be the same as asking you to marry another man."
Scarlett looked at him as though the answer were obvious.
