Chapter 10 - Chapter 9: Decapitation

Demons—if they can ignore damage to their bodies, then a pierced heart isn't a fatal blow either.

Kamado Asaki was willing to trade getting his heart run through for a more favorable advantage.

Black Wolf Fang's sharp claws pierced into Asaki's chest. Just as he was about to pull them out and cause further damage—

Asaki, enduring the searing pain, took another step forward, and a mouthful of blood sprayed directly into Black Wolf Fang's face, blinding his eyes with crimson.

"You little shit! Even I'm not this fucking despicable. You got the balls to fight me head-on or not?!"

Black Wolf Fang shook his head violently, trying to fling off the blood covering his eyes.

One of his hands had pierced through Asaki's chest, but the other wasn't idle either. Relying on instinct, it fiercely lunged toward Asaki's neck.

If Black Wolf Fang managed to grab his throat and twist his head off, Asaki would have no chance of resistance. That bastard wouldn't give him time to regenerate.

Asaki didn't want a direct clash. Now that Black Wolf Fang's vision was obscured, his attack paths weren't as precise, and his speed was slightly delayed. Seizing the moment, Asaki swiftly grabbed his wrist.

Using Black Wolf Fang's own momentum, Asaki lifted upward lightly, throwing off the trajectory and force of the strike.

At the same time, Asaki formed a blade with his right hand and slashed down viciously at the arm still lodged inside his chest.

After witnessing Black Wolf Fang regenerate from a blown-off head so easily, Asaki immediately understood one thing: when demons fight demons, you can't be afraid of injury. Even though pain remains, any wound is basically negligible to a demon.

Black Wolf Fang never expected this newborn demon to be so ruthless, or to fight so dirty.

He only felt a searing pain in his right arm from the forearm down. The entire elbow bent the wrong way—his bones were snapped, and now his right arm hung limp, completely useless.

Of all things, Black Wolf Fang hated Asaki's combat style the most—scheming, underhanded, full of tricks.

A real battle should be fought head-on. Clashing with blood boiling, fists flying, no matter who wins or loses. That's the kind of glorious fight Black Wolf Fang lived for.

"You little shit, you've fucking pissed me off now."

"The gap in strength isn't something cheap tricks can make up for. I'll tear off your limbs, sever your head, and when the sun rises, I'll reduce you to ash."

He hadn't intended to go all out against a newborn demon.

This hunting ground had originally been shared by two demons, but a member of the Demon Slayer Corps had suddenly arrived—strong as hell.

The other demon was instantly killed by that hunter.

Black Wolf Fang had watched from a distance. When he saw the outcome, cold sweat poured down his back. He had almost gone after that slayer himself. Thank fuck the other demon beat him to it.

Logically, he should have fled this area and avoided the hunter.

But for some reason, something deep inside refused to leave. Even knowing the risk to his life, he couldn't pull himself away.

That slayer had been living in the town below for a while now, making Black Wolf Fang too afraid to act, yet that town was his main food supply.

Just last night, a lost kid wandered in through the snowstorm, letting him have a good feast.

But if he used his full power now… he'd have to starve again.

Hopefully, that hunter would leave soon.

"Blood Demon Art: Blade Hell!"

Black Wolf Fang wasn't just any demon—he had already awakened a Blood Demon Art. Though he hadn't mastered it yet, it was more than enough to crush a newborn like Asaki.

A massive cleaver, one and a half meters long and over twenty centimeters wide, materialized in Black Wolf Fang's left hand.

The blade's iron-wrapped hilt was jagged and angular. Since his left hand was stretched out and couldn't swing the blade at Asaki, Black Wolf Fang simply slammed the hilt toward Asaki's cheek.

Hearing the air whistle, Asaki's heart jolted. He jerked his head, trying to dodge the blow.

But the blade had appeared suddenly. Its hilt wasn't short, and Asaki was way too close.

Not expecting a Blood Demon Art, Asaki was caught off guard and thrown at a disadvantage.

That's how battles are—turning in an instant.

Asaki did his best to dodge, but still got smashed by the sharp iron hilt. A gaping, horrifying hole appeared on the right side of his face. The flesh and muscle were torn clean off.

With his head severely wounded, Black Wolf Fang followed up with a brutal kick, launching Asaki like a rag doll.

He crashed into the cavern wall, his entire body wracked with pain.

As soon as he hit the ground, Asaki tried to get back up.

But Black Wolf Fang didn't give him the chance. The massive cleaver swung down viciously, slicing Asaki's head clean off.

Then he bent his knee and kicked the head upward. With a sharp stab, the blade pierced straight through Asaki's skull, pinning it to the wall.

And Asaki was plunged into the overwhelming shock of his first decapitation.

If not for the blinding pain still surging through his head, the continued presence of consciousness, and the ability to see Black Wolf Fang laughing smugly in front of him, Asaki would've thought he was dead.

"Peh. You really thought you could fuck with Lord Black Wolf Fang? Go ahead and fucking die."

Black Wolf Fang sneered at Asaki and stomped down on the limbs of his headless body lying on the ground, snapping them one by one. Then he sat directly on top of it.

Asaki didn't speak. The feeling was bizarre.

But seeing his own headless body getting its limbs crushed was… a fucking nightmare.

"So I really am this weak…"

Sitting atop Asaki's body, Black Wolf Fang didn't bother resetting his bones. He just ripped off his own left arm, and after a few breaths, a new one regrew, good as new.

"Hey, brat. Just now I was feeling generous and offered you something to eat, and you refused. How does that feel now, huh?"

Time for the victor's taunts.

Asaki remained expressionless, silent.

He wasn't ready to give up yet.

Right now, he was trying to reestablish a link with his body, to see if he could control it remotely.

He could feel it—his head and body, though separated, still held a faint connection.

And as Asaki consciously reached out, the connection began to strengthen. At this rate, he'd be able to control his body from a distance soon.

"Hey, brat, I'm talking to you."

"Say something. You were talking real big just now."

Black Wolf Fang curled his lips into a slight, venomous smile.

Asaki's cold silence didn't anger him.

In fact, it amused him.

He stared at Asaki's head, doing nothing else, because a fun little idea had just come to him.

Three minutes later, Asaki finally managed to regain full control of his body.

He began quietly regenerating his limbs, getting ready to strike back—he still had a chance to fight.

But suddenly, Black Wolf Fang burst into wild laughter...
