Chapter 54 - Chapter 54: Cards on the Table

『Hakari Kotaro』

As I was contemplating my future hero moniker, people started going up to the front and presenting their names all the while my own board remained a stark blank. Starting with the sugar guy with the big lips who chose the name 'Sugar Crush' which I had to admit was rather clever. And I was 50% sure that was not his original.

But butterflies do as butterflies do. Not wasting mental CPU on that.

What should I pick? John Quirk? Since I have so many quirks?

Next up was Toru, who just picked Invisible girl. Kinda generic but classic for a reason.

...Gacha Man? No, that makes me sound like a children's cartoon hero.

Then again...

After Toru, Mina walked to the stand and flipped her sign over with a big grin.

"Tada! The Melting Hero: Solvent!"

"Super catchy! And sounds like Problem Solver! Great!"

Fuck, that was too good. Why am I not good at naming stuff like that?

Maybe I name myself Gachamp? Gacha + Champion.

No, that sounds too much Machamp.

Mineta came up to the stand next revealing his sign.

"The Sticky Hero: Tacky!"

Midnight nodded and gave a thumbs up.

"Short and to the point! I like it, but what about your grape themed costume?"

Mineta shrugged his shoulders.

"I was thinking of changing it, it looks way too much like... a diaper as it is."

So someone finally pointed that out to him, good. I was not going to be the one to do it.

Hmm, maybe I should go for something bombastic? Like Super Ultra Invincible Restless Gambler Gacha Kaisen Man. It would certainly stand out from the crowd.

But then Bakugou came to the stage and revealed his own name.

"The Supreme Best Hero: Ultra Explosion God Murder Emperor Dynamight!"

"That's... you should work on that."

"No! It's perfect as it is dammit!"

...I'm not going to share a naming scheme with Bakugou of all people. Back to the drawing board it is.

Toga, the best girl, who could pick no bad name went up next and turned over her board with a smirk.

"The Impostor Hero: Bathory! Because I suck really good! And Blood!"

Midnight cooed and patted her head.

"Aww, that's a good one, there are no female vampire heroes so that hasn't been taken yet. Iconic!"

Hmm, maybe I could also pick a name a historical figure already had.

Henry VIII?

I'll put a pin on that.

Next up, several went up with predictable names, Uraraka choosing Uravity, Asui choosing Froppy, and Shoto being lame and choosing his own name and not something like Fireice or Icefire or Fieryice or Frostflame or Flamefrost or Iceburn or Icemelter or the Fire Freezer.

Same for Ida, he chose his name as his hero name instead of Gearshift, Turbo, Speedracer, or Fifth Gear, or other numerous kinds of vehicle related names he could have chosen.

Izuku chose Deku, some shit about turning his moniker of being bullied into something positive or whatever.

And at last, it came to me.

In the end, I had decided on one name that felt like it suited me. A name that had the potential to be everything, but was nothing as of yet.

I went up to the podium and flipped my board.

"The Chaotic Hero: Wildcard."

Midnight instantly gave me a thumbs up, making me breathe a sigh of relief.

"Great, it suits you very well, Hakari-kun!"

Feat Achieved! Pick your Hero Name

+1x Bronze Trait Gacha Ticket

That was a feat?

⚀—⚁⚂⚃—⚄—•⚅•—⚄—⚃⚂⚁—⚀

After everyone was done picking their names, everyone sat back down as Aizawa explained how internships would work, but I promptly decided to ignore it and focus on what mattered.

The gacha of course. The tickets just sitting there felt restless, and I was letting the National Toganium Reserves replenish so I was not going to drain any luck from her before rolling anyways, so I decided to do it now.

An Advantage Silver Trait and a Bronze Trait.

I seem to be getting a lot of traits lately, maybe I should have named myself Traitman?

Rolling Bronze Trait Gacha...

[Ambidexterous]

Common Trait

You are perfectly ambidexterous, you can use both of your arms and hands as if they were both dominant hands. The same applies to all of your limbs, perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

As the trait was applied I felt a weird sensation, like getting a chiropractic adjustment as my arms and legs suddenly felt far more comfortable, as if something within me was just calibrated correctly for the first time.

This would be very useful during combat, especially with using stuff like Bikaku. Unexpectedly useful for a Bronze.

Now then, the Silver advantage ticket.

Rolling Silver Gacha with Advantage...

[Ceaseless Discharge]

Trash Trait

"Not the one you are thinking of" Your cum refills almost instantly, and the volume of your ejaculations is substantially increased.

or

[Sensor]

Uncommon Trait

You have always had a knack for sensing and locating energy/mana/chakra etc. Your ability to sense and locate energy as well as your Thinker abilities are enhanced.

Ceaseless Discharge was utterly useless for me considering I had an Elite rarity stamina trait and Super Regeneration. Sensor on the other hand, I had no idea what the hell a Thinker was.

When I asked what the actual fuck a Thinker was. It replied to me with.

Explanation - Thinker: An ability that is related to mental or perception such as Thought Acceleration or Hawk Eyes.

Applies to:

-Door Crossing

-Greater Hemokinesis

-Piercing Eyes

-Enhanced Senses

Which was a rather stupid name to call that category if I were to be honest, but I was not the seemingly omnipotent entity that made this whole operation so it was not my place to judge.

But, obviously, the trait was incredible for my set. Considering how many abilities benefitted from it, especially Door Crossing. At this point, my range with it would be so high that I'd probably reach across a city block with it.

I'd have preferred something else, as I am not really a sensible guy, but you rock with whatever you roll.

While I adapted to the sensation of my new trait in the back of my head, Aizawa started handing everyone a dossier of their internship offers. Or in the case of the losers, the agencies they could pick.

Of course mine was a massive fucking stack slapped onto my desk.

I started at the stack with a forlorn expression and turned to the girls.

"...Anyone mind helping me with this?"

.

. .

. . .

I am very thankful that these girls like me enough to put their desks against mine to help me sort through the paper behemoth. Well, Deku and Mineta joined in as well, it mostly turned into a group evaluation of everyone comparing their offers. Which Aizawa allowed as long as we did not make any noise.

"Look look, Hakari-kun! I was so worried I wouldn't get any good offers from 4, but Lady Shadow sent me an internship offer, she is like, the best of the covert operation heroes!"

I took the file Toru handed to me and nodded in approval, they looked a lot like Black Cat from Marvel when I took a closer look, but then again, Marvel used to exist here, so, eh.

"Good for you. I'm sure you'll do good there."

Unfortunately, I could only briefly pay attention to her as I scanned through 4 papers at once while using Enhanced Senses, boosting my Sight and allowing me to actually focus on everything in my field of view and scanning them for any name that spoke to me.

"Gasp! Hakari-kun! I got an offer! From Edgeshot!"

I put down the papers and turned to Toga with genuine surprise, Edgeshot was a top 10 hero. But then, Toga's skills were on the level of a pro and she already moved like a Ninja so I could understand Edgeshots interest. Toga all but leaped onto the table in joy while Momo smiled softly and crossed her arms.

"It seems like we are in the same boat, Toga-san. I also received an offer from Sir Edgeshot."

And that doubled my surprise. Momo too? I remember that she was supposed to get an offer from a celebrity hero and do basically nothing at all during her internship, but she got an offer from Edgeshot too?

"Seems like the Ninja tools really sold it to him eh?"

Momo nodded with a very satisfied expression.

"It seems so, I cannot thank you enough, Hakari-kun."

"Momo-chan! We get to intern together! This'll be so cool! We'll be Ninja Sisters!"

"Y-yes, it seems so."

Momo was taken aback when Toga leapt over the table and hugged Momo tightly, but she really did not seem to mind, on the contrary I could see the corners of her mouth struggling to not curl upwards as she returned the hug.

"Wah, I didn't get any offers from my favorite heroes though, though I did get an offer from Doctor Venom."

"Doctor Venom? He uses Acid like you, Mina-chan. But I'm not sure his style works with yours, he uses it in large quantities and usually in the form of mists. Wouldn't it be smarter to go for a hero with a more agile style? Like Slipstream."

Mina's face was frozen in shock as she slowly turned her head to Mineta who leaned over and analyzed her offers and gave genuine honest advice.

"W-what the hell happened to you Mineta? Did someone possess you!? How are you speaking like a normal person."

A vein popped up in Mineta's temple, the little dude looked genuinely affronted.

"...I am ninth place in the class in terms of academics, you know? Anyways, I'm thinking of interning with Arachwoman, a spider mutant heroine who sent me an offer, what do you think, Hakari-kun?"

While Mina was utterly shocked by Mineta who managed to become a person through a rigorous exercise in self-control and muttered to herself about body snatching and brainwashing as I took a look at the document he handed me.

"Looks good, maybe she'll teach you how to be better at setting traps, I think she was known for that."

"I'll go with that then."

He muttered and circled in his choice while I went back to my paper, looking over the 67th paper in the stack I saw a particular offer that was circled by over a dozen Seek Guidance messages.

Apparently, with Sensor trait in play, that ability could now actually direct comment on objects instead of only on the ground.

'This!'

'Here!'

'Bnuy!'

'Accept, and then breed.'

'Bnuy ahead.'

'Praise the rabbit!'

'Fluffy ahead.'

My eyes widened at the implication and I read over the offer before setting the paper down gingerly.

My fists were clenched so hard they were shaking to prevent me from whooping out loud.

...An Internship offer from Mirko!!!

I may be able to fulfill my dream of being choked out by her thighs after all!

Concerned and curious, the others leaned over and read the paper I set down with varying reactions.

"Wow! Mirko? I didn't even know she took interns, she must be really interested in you Hakari-kun, congratulations."

Izuku stated happily while Momo tilted her head at me.

"Are you okay Hakari-kun? Is there something about the offer you are concerned about?"

But she was rebuked by Mineta putting a hand on her shoulder and shaking his head.

"Shh, innocent one, let him have this one."

Toga nodded solemnly and put her hand on Momo's other shoulder.

"Yeah, he needs this, just give him a minute."

I did not even need to read the other offers as I put them aside.

Horny aside, Mirko was a perfect match for my fighting style, she was a brute force technique brawler and a solo player. And someone who did not give a damn about the rules and moved at her own pace. Someone who was suited to handle my volatile and ever-changing set of abilities.

But more importantly...

Come on man.

It's Mirko.

Without a shred of a doubt, I signed my name into the internship offer.

A/N: Hakari has chosen the name wildcard, and some of the other students have different hero names now because I thought of some new variations and felt like it would be fun to include them. Also, Hakari's new Sensor roll will have a very good synergy with Void Childe and Door Crossing soon, so I'm very happy he rolled it.

Mirko!!! I could not resist, I really tried, I tried my best, but in the end, the temptation of the bunny was impossible to resist. And I could not refuse the pleas of the people. It seems like Hakari will be tangling with the bunny real soon. What did you guys think about this chapter? I wanted to put a bit of focus on character interaction so I wanted to hear your thoughts.
