MHGA Chapter 369 – A New Dungeon Master?

"Hello, I'm a new transfer student… Saki Uuno…"

With her head lowered and cheeks slightly flushed, Saki Uuno stood at the front of the classroom in Mitakihara Middle School, wearing a school uniform that seemed a bit too small for her, nervously introducing herself.

The day after Kairo Retsu's meeting with Mami Tomoe, Mami discovered that her class had a transfer student.

It was a pink-haired girl—clearly a high schooler at first glance—yet she had somehow transferred into their middle school class.

Even more strange, no one else in the class seemed to find this the least bit unusual!

At the same time, in the class where Madoka, Sayaka, and Homura were, the blackboard bore the name "Hibiki Tachibana."

Full of energy, Hibiki introduced herself while flashing a peace sign. "Hi everyone! I'm transferring in starting today! I love listening to music and batt— I mean, singing! Nice to meet you all!!"

"Ha?" Sayaka wanted so badly to retort.

She had expected something odd based on what Kairo said yesterday, but this? Sayaka hadn't imagined she'd meet another member like this… And that girl just slipped and said "battle"! What do you mean you love 'battle'?!

Homura was just as bewildered and confused.

She even began to wonder if Kyubey had tricked her somehow. Everything in this loop was utterly unpredictable.

She had missed her first meeting with Madoka. A strange being like the Winged Lion had appeared. And now, a new transfer student?

Also—why did that new student's voice sound so much like Madoka's?! [Suspicious.jpg]

Hibiki beamed brightly as she stood at the podium, exchanged glances with Madoka, and subtly gave her a thumbs-up.

The mastermind who got both Hibiki and Saki Uuno enrolled was none other than Altair, now floating above Mitakihara Middle School.

"Chaotic Gore Magala… Why can't I sense your presence?"

Altair's expression was clouded with concern.

She couldn't detect even the faintest trace of the Chaotic Gore Magala, and began to worry that perhaps it had been killed after being taken away by Shagaru Magala.

"No… It's not that weak." Altair reassured herself and concealed her presence once more.

Until she found the Chaotic Gore Magala and Shagaru Magala, she couldn't allow herself to be exposed to Kyubey or similar entities—doing so could invite trouble.

Moreover…

Altair had been using incantations prepared by Meteora to spread image-recording spells throughout Mitakihara City.

Her world needed a conclusion—this was her purpose.

Only then could her creator's world stabilize its Recognition Force and return all fictional beings to their original worlds.

At the same time, within the Hunters' base, Kairo Retsu and his team were gathered, dissecting the captured Rose Garden Witch.

"In order to fully understand the ecology of Witches and prepare for Walpurgisnacht, we Hunters are now demonstrating our top scientific expertise…"

"Stop pretending to be the narrator, you moron! None of us have any scientific expertise!" Kazuma fired back at Kairo with his usual venom. "Between all of us, does our average education even amount to a college degree?!"

"I'm a college student," Naofumi Iwatani raised his hand silently.

"I can enroll in university any time I want," Joseph crossed his arms, flexing his wealth.

"I got into college by clawing through a battlefield of a thousand candidates—fair and square" Kairo shot Kazuma a glare. "You couldn't even graduate high school. What right do you have to question our education levels?"

"Ha?!" Kazuma was furious. "Who says I wouldn't graduate?!"

"Then go back to your world and graduate—if you can beat the Demon King. Which you can't," Kairo said flatly. "Face it—you're doomed to lower our average GPA!"

"Why do you care so much about GPA?!" Kazuma howled. "Whatever! I'll do the research! Let me in on the dissection!"

Thus, Kazuma got roped into the Witch dissection effort through sheer provocation.

Unlike Kazuma, who still had the energy to banter, Laios was fully engrossed in studying the Witch.

"Hmm… As expected, this thing isn't a normal organism," Laios muttered. "There are no standard biological organs inside it at all…"

"Even though Witches are said to be transformed Magical Girls, I don't think they retain much connection to their human origins."

"If I had to describe it…" Laios held up a finger. "It's like a headless horse being ridden by a headless knight."

"So that's what happens to all the girls in that world who form contracts with Kyubey?" Himmel looked disturbed.

Nearby, Shirou Emiya was equally grim-faced. "This is… unforgivable."

Tanjiro Kamado didn't speak, but his clenched fists showed he agreed.

None of them could yet devise a way to deal with Kyubey, a being that exploited others' despair.

Laios, ever composed, turned to Kairo. "Guildmaster, I want to ask—did you deliberately bring the Winged Lion into Madoka's world because…"

"…you're planning to make someone there the new Dungeon Master?"

Everyone turned toward Kairo at once. Kairo nodded in confirmation. "Was it that obvious?"

"Because I don't think we have the strength to eliminate the Incubators," Laios said seriously. "If we go by what's known about them, their civilization must be advanced enough to develop emotional suppression—so I doubt they lack the means to give themselves emotions."

"They chose to exploit humanity to prolong their survival… which, from their standpoint, is rational."

"But if they want to eat… they better be ready to get eaten."

"The only being I can think of that might 'consume' them—" Laios scratched his head, "—is the Winged Lion."

"Bingo," Kairo replied.

"The Winged Lion can solve this problem."

"But…"

"We Hunters aren't suited to that task," Kairo said as he stared at the Witch. "Madoka won't do it. Mami can't handle the truth. Sayaka and Kyoko each have their own disqualifying reasons."

"But there's one person—someone who knows the full truth about Kyubey, someone whose emotional intensity can attract the Winged Lion…"

"And unlike us—outsiders to this world—she has the rightful claim to rebel against the Incubators."

"This is the right of humanity in this world."

"The Dungeon Master—Homura Akemi." Kairo opened his arms. "What do you all think?"
