MHGA Chapter 330 – Kazuma's Big Rant
Kazuma clamped a hand over Sota Mizushino's mouth.
He wasn't the kind of guy who took risks—sure, he'd been tricked a few times in the past… but when it came to someone like Makagami Chikujouin—whose abilities were written in a novel you could literally read—what the hell were they thinking?
They knew her identity and abilities and still gave her the chance to activate them… Why?
Kazuma simply could not comprehend their logic.
So—
"Drain Touch!" Kazuma suddenly lunged at Makagami Chikujouin, casting his stamina-sapping magic and furiously draining her strength to prevent her from getting a single word out.
"K-Kazuma-san?" Sota Mizushino blinked in confusion.
He had read Kazuma's story in passing, but he didn't expect Kazuma to just leap out, take down Makagami Chikujouin, and keep siphoning stamina from her until she passed out.
Not only that, Kazuma also asked Sakura to tie her up tightly using the Wood Card, then began spamming Steal on Chikujouin, tossing each item he stole into a bonfire he lit right there on the ground. One item, one toss—burning everything she had on her.
After all, even a lie she'd written down could be reversed into reality. Against someone like her, Kazuma thought, no level of caution was overkill.
The Hunters had already discussed it: they had no intention of letting her go.
Originally, Kairo Retsu had proposed simply executing her for the innocent people she had harmed. But after considering whether that might mess with the newly altered Acceptance Force rules, the Hunters decided to imprison her completely—until all Created Beings left this world.
"Whew!"
Kazuma wiped imaginary sweat from his brow and muttered, "Why does it feel like I always get stuck with the dirty jobs…"
"Thank you, Kazuma-san." Mamika looked down at the unconscious Makagami with a complicated expression.
She came from a child-friendly world and didn't know much about cruelty, but she could still distinguish right from wrong and had a solid moral compass.
"Next… we have to stop Altair." Mamika gripped her magical staff and looked up at the giant screen.
The big screen currently displayed the battle between the Military Uniform Princess Altair and the others.
"Ugh—————! Altair's ability is way too broken!"
Kazuma, having just dealt with Makagami, now witnessed the scene of Naofumi Iwatani getting stabbed straight through the heart.
That was likely just one of Altair's powers. The opponent's strength… at this point, they weren't someone you could beat through simple hunting anymore.
But then Kazuma saw something that made him feel much better.
Kairo Retsu getting pummeled around the battlefield by Gore Magala.
"WAHAHAHAHAHA! Run, you fool! Kekekeke! Look at you flailing under the monster's attacks! And to think you're the Guildmaster who got here just a few days before I did—" Kazuma laughed uproariously at the sight of Kairo Retsu on-screen.
"Kazuma-san! Isn't the Guildmaster in serious trouble right now?!" Sakura looked anxious. She'd been left with a good impression of Kairo Retsu, and seeing him struggle like this made her worry.
"Did no one go to help the Guildmaster?" Mamika also seemed unsure.
Hearing their concerns, Kazuma dropped his smug, obnoxious grin and replied with surprising seriousness.
"Kairo Retsu… don't worry about him."
He shrugged. "He's not weak."
"You know how the more Felyne Meals a Hunter eats, the stronger their physique gets, right?" Kazuma flexed his somewhat toned arm: "Kairo Retsu is the guy in our Gathering Hub who eats the most Felyne Meals."
"Ugh, no wonder I always lose to him in close combat." Kazuma crouched and started drawing circles in the dirt. "It's just 'cause he eats more cat food than I do…"
"But didn't the Guildmaster say he didn't have any special powers?" Mamika asked, puzzled. "He doesn't seem to have the kinds of abilities that the other members do."
Kazuma pounded the ground in frustration. "Even if he did have a special power, it'd have to actually be useful for him!"
"Last time, he tanked a Drain Touch and still managed to suplex me like a pro wrestler!!" Kazuma ranted, "He's not human! He's a Rajang-type!! A bipedal Rajang species!!! There's not even human blood flowing in those veins anymore!!"
"Do… all Hunters end up like that?" A worried look crossed Sakura's face.
She suddenly remembered the male Hunters back at the Gathering Hub—all built like tanks.
Would she eventually end up like that too…? A muscle-bound Cardcaptor? She didn't want muscles!
But…
She glanced at the skinny Kazuma in front of her and let out a small sigh of relief.
Maybe muscles didn't necessarily come from Felyne Meals…
"As long as we take care of Gore Magala, the Hunters' mission will be complete!" Kazuma said cheerfully, hands on hips. "I still don't know why the Military Uniform Princess is siding with Gore Magala, but if we can handle the matter with Setsuna, then Altair won't be such a huge issue!"
"Setsuna… Kazuma-san, are you sure using the Created version of Setsuna will solve the Altair problem like in the original story?" Mamika asked with concern.
Kazuma shook his head: "No idea. But we've got a backup plan!"
"Even though our Gathering Hub usually just talks about which Felyne Meal tastes better, everyone there is super reliable!" Kazuma gave a thumbs-up. "Even me! This plan? It came from Laios!"
"Laios…-san?" Sakura thought for a moment. "Ah! That monster-obsessed guy! I remember the Guildmaster said he was the Demon King who saved the world…"
"Demon King?!" Mamika froze, staring in disbelief at Laios on the official broadcast screen. "Laios-san is a Demon King?!"
"Uh… yeah, pretty much. And in a way, I'm one of the Four Demon Generals under him…" Kazuma recalled the events of Delicious in Dungeon. "But Laios really is good at looking at things from different angles… so long as it doesn't involve people."
"Luckily, Altair is a person…"
"Otherwise, if it were Laios, he'd be downright excited."
