MHGA Chapter 291 – The Reason Hunters Hunt
After realizing how serious this situation was, Kairo Retsu saw a new quest notification pop up on the Gathering Hall panel:

The appearance of this quest confirmed without a doubt that Gore Magala existed in these worlds. But what worried Kairo Retsu most… was whether Shagaru Magala might eventually appear.
Just imagining the possibility that a Gore Magala was already molting somewhere in those worlds—preparing to evolve—gave him a headache.
If it were just Gore Magala, the Hunters could still manage after some gear upgrades and teamwork.
But if it did evolve into Shagaru Magala… Kairo Retsu might have to beg Himmel for help and gamble it all.
Unlike shell-constructed Dalamadur or other mythic beasts like Kirin, Shagaru Magala was a true, iconic Elder Dragon.
"No… I can't just sit and wait any longer… Monsters like that are a threat no matter where they appear." Kairo Retsu propped himself up, ready to get out of bed. "I'll start drafting a plan right now!"

"The Palicoes will handle the investigation regarding the Frenzy Virus." Granny Felyne pressed her paw to the back of Kairo Retsu's hand and looked at him warmly. "Because… we Palicoes will always support our Hunters. As they protect the balance of nature, we'll always be behind them."

Kairo Retsu gave a crooked smile, then stopped trying to sit up. He listened to Granny Felyne and prepared to rest properly.
Even though he didn't currently feel any discomfort from the infection—in fact, he felt unusually energized, like he could do anything—Kairo Retsu knew that was just a Frenzy symptom.
The virus's "boost" effect was really just burning through the host's life energy at an unsustainable rate.
After Granny Felyne tucked him in, she left the room to lead the Palicoes in investigating the virus and making arrangements to bring in the remaining new Hunters as soon as possible.
Lying under his blanket, Kairo Retsu stared at the ceiling, dazing out.

"I am a responsible Guildmaster, after all..." he murmured, shutting his eyes and forcing himself to sleep.

When Kairo Retsu woke up from his nap, he found fresh herbs stacked on top of him, a jar of honey by his pillow, and a letter nearby.
[Boss! Granny Felyne said you got sick, meow! I don't know what kind of sickness it is... so I went out and picked a whole bunch of herbs for you! But I don't know how to mix them into Potions... so I just left everything next to you, meow! I hope you get better soon! I also went to harvest some honey from a hive! What they didn't expect was to find a highly energetic Kairo Retsu inside, passionately lifting dumbbells like he was on performance enhancers.
And then, they learned—about the arrival of new Hunters… and the Frenzy Virus.
"Why do monsters like this exist?!" Kazuma cried in despair. "Let me go home! Wait… what if I lend you Aqua? Just this once—I'll stay behind!"
"Don't worry. The Frenzy Virus isn't instantly fatal to humans. It just causes abnormal effects in the body," Kairo Retsu explained. "The monsters representing the virus—Gore Magala and Shagaru Magala—I've prepared some data for you. Check it out later."
"And more importantly… whether these new members' worlds will react badly to the virus's presence."
With a serious expression, Kairo Retsu opened the Hall's main display screen. A slideshow popped up—the result of five minutes of hasty effort.
