A quiet chuckle escaped Seraphielle. It was not the laughter of someone amused like Aurelia was amused about Daeron's predicament.
It was the weary sound of a woman who had watched the same folly repeated across centuries.
"You concern yourself far too much with Daeron." she said, "Men like him believe themselves to be players of the game. That history bends to their ambition. They fail to understand that history bends only to destiny."
She glanced sideways at Aurelia. "They never stop to consider that they, too, are pieces upon the board."
"So you admit it....that you were using him all along?" Aurelia asked him.
"I have nothing to deny." Seraphielle replied immediately.
"You used him."
"I used the path that was available to me."
"And you think that isn't the same thing?"
