"The year after you were cursed?" Aldric repeated slowly, clearly caught off guard by the question.
Aurelia nodded, though there was hesitation in her eyes now, as though she was uncertain whether she truly wanted to continue down this path once the words had already left her mouth.
Aldric frowned slightly and leaned back against the sofa.
"I do not think anything particularly unusual happened during that time," he admitted after thinking for a moment. "At least… not anything I was allowed to see. Is there something specific you are trying to remember?"
Aurelia fell silent. For several long seconds, she simply stared at her hands resting in her lap, her fingers curling slightly together as though trying to hold herself steady. Then she sighed quietly.
"It seems," she began carefully, "that I lost my memories of that year, brother."
Aldric blinked at her in complete disbelief.
