Adrian felt a buzz from his phone so he checked it but just seeing the owner of the text he pushed his phone back to his pocket without bothering to check the contents because he knew how down bad the sender was…

Gwen caught a glimpse of Adrian's phone making her pout , she didn't mean to glance at him using his phone but when she looked at the screen she saw the name Luna Snow making her understand that it was the same vixen from Time square which made her jealous as she understood that Adrian kept in contact with her.
It was none of her business because she was just his friend but it still annoyed her, making her want to punch something.
Gwen entwined her arms around Adrian's neck as she leaned forward until their faces were close to each other, their blue eyes colliding.
Gwen could see the slight surprise in his blue orbs making her feel excited. They had known each other for more than 14 years and during all this time their relationship hadn't gone past the close friendship they had…..

Gwen was aware of her feelings for Adrian and she was really excited when he asked her out but in her fear and nervousness she rejected him.
Gwen was too comfortable in their current relationship as they were far more intimate than normal childhood friends so she didn't want to lose that , she feared ruining their current dynamic if their relationship didn't work out so she rejected him.
Gwen wished Adrian would ask her out again as she had thought about the matter thoroughly and was confident in her decision but he never did. He never pushed her and it made her feel empty as she was too much of a coward to confess her feelings.
Gwen didn't want to get rejected or ruin what they had and she felt like Adrian had moved on as he seemed to have changed a bit after her rejection. It made her feel bitter, since Adrian was pretty popular among the girls and due to him always hanging around her all of them just assumed he was taken.
But now he seemed to be surrounded by some opportunistic vultures which made Gwen upset but she couldn't do anything as she had no right to do anything.

Gwen remembered how devastated she was , she had cried herself to sleep countless times during many nights when she would gaze at their old photos.
Gwen felt like something precious was stolen from her , she was there first , she had been there from the start even before he got reunited with his sister.
She had accompanied him throughout the years and maybe during those long years Gwen might have thought that Adrian was exclusively hers… it was a complacent thought.
Unknowingly she had long since been possessive of him and even when the girls in class showed interest in him Gwen wasn't worried since she was confident in their relationship.
She never once thought that Adrian would leave her , not with the history and relationship they had.
Gwen had become arrogant unknown to her , she felt like she could keep their relationship stagnant without losing anything and no matter what happened Adrian would be with her because that was how it had always been.
And she wasn't wrong she and Adrian were still best friends but he was together with someone else and their relationship was strictly platonic.
Gwen wasn't satisfied with just that, she wanted those intimate moments and touches they used to share with each other , she didn't want to just be his friend but it felt like it was too late.
She fumbled her chance and somebody else took what was supposed to be hers ….

Gwen knew it was very ugly of her to feel happy and relieved knowing Illyana broke up with Adrian but she couldn't prevent herself from feeling that way.
She even had the idea of staying by his side during his tough times and making him lean more on her and heal his heart with her love. It was very opportunistic of her but it felt very tempting.
But before she could do anything Adrian got entangled with Felicia making Gwen feel depressed once again cursing her luck since she felt like some higher force out there was out to get her.
But she could only blame herself since she was balancing her personal life and her life as a superhero giving her very little time to stay beside Adrian , and Felicia took advantage of this.
Gwen remembered going extra hard on the criminals that day to the point that Spider Woman thought she might cripple them.
It was a bitter pill to swallow for Gwen but she had to admit that Adrian had many people that liked him and they didn't look like potatoes either.
MJ who was very popular in their college had a very obvious crush on Adrian , then Felicia, then sweet and innocent Peni and there were also older women who made Gwen feel threatened and she felt like she was fighting a losing battle with her fumbling her advantage as his childhood friend by friendzoning him.
Gwen wanted to slap the shit out of her past self for being such an idiot ….
