When she gets to the door where he is standing, she still doesn't look at him. Her eyes remain fixed anywhere but on his face, the anger boiling inside her and the pain tightening her chest haven't yet simmered down.
Her entire body holding itself stiff so that nothing slips through and betrays her.
"This room hasn't been cleaned ever since you left. And I need it cleaned and arranged perfectly. Your Luna will be moving in at the end of the day."
The words fall from his mouth like stones, blunt and deliberate, meant to remind her of where she stands now.
If you think that hurts me… it doesn't.
Aria screams inside, though no sound leaves her lips. The denial claws at her throat, almost tearing its way out, and for a second she nearly spits it at him.
But she swallows it down, pressing it deep where he can't reach.
She has already promised herself she won't let it get to her anymore. She refuses to let him see her break.
