Chapter 250: Charge, Kitasan Black!!
With a sudden burst of force, her muscles tightened instantly. Gold Ship felt like a bowstring drawn to its absolute limit, her entire body brimming with boundless power.
She began her final sprint.
Her silver-gray long hair whipped wildly in the wind, snapping like a banner.
In her pale pink eyes burned blazing flames—the burning desire for victory.
Her breathing grew more rapid, yet the rhythm remained perfectly controlled.
Every breath felt as if she were draining the surrounding air and pulling it into her body, turning it into fuel for every step forward.
Her strides became faster and more powerful. Each time the cleat-embedded soles of her Signature Racewear struck the ground, they left deep imprints behind.
She was gradually closing in on Kitasan Black.
At this moment, the commentator's voice—sharp with extreme excitement, almost cracking—tore through the air that had grown tense to the point of freezing:
"Final straight! The last 310 meters! The final stretch before the finish line of the year's last—and most glorious—race!"
"The final clash!"
His voice sounded as though it had been scorched by flames, hoarse yet overflowing with electrifying passion. Every word he shouted slammed heavily into the hearts of the spectators.
"Gold Ship has surged forward! She's done it—she's surged forward! The great ship riding the wind and waves is about to reach the harbor!"
"But—!"
"This final stage does not belong to her alone!"
The commentator suddenly raised his volume, as if unleashing every ounce of emotion inside him.
"Kitasan Black is still in the lead! Kitasan Black remains in first place!"
"Marialite has finally charged up! After fighting the entire race she's finally broken through the front line and pushed forward!"
"Gold Actor, Sounds of Earth, Lovely Day! They're running side-by-side with Gold Ship!"
"This is the final chaos of battle! They're fighting to the death! Not giving up even an inch!"
"Two hundred meters left! The fight continues!"
The commentator spoke faster and faster, like a machine gun, relaying every thrilling moment on the track to the audience.
"Go—Gold Ship seems to be struggling a little. Gold Ship… has fallen behind! But she's still in the top five—she still has a chance!"
"Gold Actor has surged forward! She's passed Marialite—she's pushing up!"
"Sounds of Earth is right behind her! She's moved to the outside! She's chasing Kitasan Black!"
"Lovely Day has been overtaken! She's been boxed in by Marialite and Gold Ship—Lovely Day is in serious danger!"
"Kitasan Black is still leading! But—"
"Gold Actor and Sounds of Earth… are charging up!!"
The commentator practically roared those words.
By now, the grandstands had fallen into a kind of eerie madness.
Hundreds of thousands of eyes were locked onto the racetrack. Countless spectators leaned forward, screaming themselves hoarse. Some had already lost their voices, some were shouting incoherently, and others were so tense they had forgotten how to breathe.
Gentildonna had completely lost the relaxed composure she had earlier. Both hands were gripping the railing tightly.
Under the nearly insane strength of her grip, the metal railing actually bent and warped.
Her eyes were wide as she stared at Gold Ship on the track and shouted at the top of her lungs:
"What are you doing?! Charge already! Where's that momentum you had when you crashed into me before?! Charge!!"
Orfevre was no less intense, shouting just as loudly:
"Ship! Charge! What the hell are you thinking?! Go!!"
Her face was filled with anxiety and expectation. Veins bulged on her forehead as her voice seemed ready to pierce through the entire stadium and drill straight into Gold Ship's ears.
Gripping the railing tightly, her upper body leaning far forward, she looked as if she wanted nothing more than to jump onto the track herself—either to run the race or to physically push Gold Ship toward the finish line.
Deep Impact still retained a bit of rationality. She didn't shout, but her eyes were fixed firmly on the racing pack as she muttered incoherently under her breath:
"Don't rush… this kind of situation is common… don't rush… there's still an advantage… still a chance… If it were me, I could hold on… Kitasan can definitely hold on too… don't rush… can't rush…"
As she murmured—half trying to comfort herself or perhaps someone else—she kept a close watch on the race. Fine beads of sweat had already formed on her forehead, and her hands clenched unconsciously.
Tokai Teio had long since lost the dignity and composure expected of the student council president.
Like a kid skipping class, she had already leapt over the railing with astonishing jumping ability and was standing right at the edge of the track.
At this moment, she paid no attention to appearances. Cupping her hands around her mouth, she shouted at the top of her lungs:
"Golshi! Kita! Go! Go! Come on!"
Her voice was full of passion and encouragement. She stared at the track without blinking, as if her shouts alone could inject endless strength into the two runner.
As for Makoto, he had once again fallen into the same confusion and panic he experienced during the Kikuka Sho.
The binoculars he gripped tightly had their paint chipped from the trembling, but he didn't notice at all.
His lips quivered. His throat felt as if something were stuck in it, preventing him from making any sound.
But when his widened eyes locked onto the black-haired girl on the track, and he realized that the two figures behind her were almost surging forward side by side—
He could no longer hold back and let out a roar filled with pure terror:
"Run—! Run! Kitasan—!!"
More than 100 meters from the finish line, the racetrack felt like a barrel of gunpowder ignited, erupting into the fiercest and most frenzied battle yet.
Gold Ship's face was drenched in sweat. The strain written across her tightly tensed facial muscles showed how hard it was becoming—but she still looked like a wounded yet unyielding beast, her entire body radiating a dangerous aura.
In her pale pink eyes, the flames had dimmed slightly—but they still burned stubbornly.
She clenched her teeth and pushed harder once more. Her muscles tightened like steel, and every push off the ground poured out the last of her strength.
The cleats beneath her feet kicked up sprays of grass and dirt. Clumps of turf scattered like sparks, as if igniting the final stretch of distance.
Lovely Day ran right beside Gold Ship. Her gaze darted wildly between Marialite ahead and Gold Ship beside her. Her eyes were filled with struggle and unwillingness to give up, yet her steps never once stopped.
Ahead, Marialite had fallen slightly behind again—but her pursuit had never been more desperate.
Her face and eyes were filled with determination. Her body leaned forward so far it looked as if she might collapse at any moment.
She swung her arms with all her might. In her eyes burned the hopeful light of someone searching desperately for a breakthrough.
Within that glimmer of hope—Gold Actor moved like a nimble streak of light, while Sounds of Earth surged forward like a roaring gale.
Gold Actor quickly shifted from the inside to the outside lane, her movements light and fluid. Each swing of her leg carved a graceful arc through the air.
Her gaze was firm and sharp, locked onto the Kitasan Black just ahead on the diagonal.
Sounds of Earth was no less formidable. Her strides were wide and powerful.
With every step, her legs, arms, and torso generated rushing gusts of wind. The overlapping wind sounds felt almost like a mid-distance symphony being played out of thin air.
And at the very front—
Kitasan Black was feeling a pressure she had never experienced before.
Out of the corner of her eye, two figures—one agile and graceful, the other fierce and overwhelming—were closing in like twin blades stabbing straight toward her back.
Behind them, the struggling but still dangerous final sprints burned like scorching flames against her spine.
Her breathing grew heavier and heavier. Her legs already felt as if they were filled with lead, each step becoming harder to lift.
But she knew clearly—
She still had one final chance left.
