Senzo and the others flew through the sky, and in no time they made it past the next batch of islands; luckily they were fast enough so they didn't have to deal with the second assault of all the harpies.
"..."
Senzo silently stared at the now cowering harpies; the moment they tried to approach him, they all cowered in fear of something and immediately rushed back down to continue glaring at them.
He couldn't be bothered to care and focused on the next batch of adversaries they would have to face.
"Wyverns, huh..." he muttered, looking at the winged lizards flying through the air; there were even some that were resting on the islands.
"Master, what's the plan?" War inquired, cracking his knuckles; even through his thick steel gauntlets, Senzo could hear his knuckles popping.
How?
Senzo was dumbfounded looking at War's dented gauntlets after casually cracking his knuckles. But there were more important things to do currently.
"What do you think the plan is? The same as before—brute force our way through!" he confidently stated, and before any of the three horsemen or spectral warriors could react, they shot straight up at all the wyverns.
"Hehe!"
"He really wants to get this over with, huh..." Death mumbled, and because they were going so fast, Senzo couldn't hear him at all.
Famine stayed quiet while observing the back of his master and braced for the inevitable battle with the winged lizards.
"Huh?"
But something very unexpected occurred; instead of being surrounded by wyverns, which they all expected to happen, they simply made way for them.
Not trusting those monsters one bit, Senzo kept his guard up while slowly ascending through the air; the same went for War and the others.
They all tightly grasped their weapons and were ready to engage in a nasty brawl at a moment's notice.
"What's happening?" Senzo muttered, carefully observing his surroundings, but no matter what, the wyverns did not charge at them at all.
"I don't know, master, but maybe they can sense we're strong and don't want to engage in a losing battle?" Death tried to come up with a reasonable explanation that could explain their current situation.
War and Famine, on the other hand, didn't engage in any idle banter and kept their gazes aimed at all the monsters surrounding them; there were so many of them that they felt like even if you combined all the giant bats and harpies together, the wyverns would still outnumber them by a solid margin.
What's happening? Famine couldn't help but glance back for a split second at the harpies that were now becoming smaller and smaller below them.
But he didn't dare to look for too long, afraid that these monsters might target any lapse in their judgement.
War, on the other hand, felt wronged by these winged lizards; they were one of the most entertaining opponents to fight, after all.
"..."
He couldn't help but crack his neck a couple times, hoping to agitate the flying reptiles, but nothing worked.
Senzo was also deep in thought after hearing Death's remark, but it was impossible to figure out the reason right now, so all he could do was rush up and hope that they could clear this dungeon after reaching the singular highest island.
He quickly sped up their flight even more, and soon they breached the sound barrier; still, even after making such a huge commotion, not a single monster tried to attack them.
***
A couple of minutes later, they had finally arrived at the highest island on the whole floor. Senzo quickly landed, glancing down at all the wyverns, but surprisingly they still had no intention of attacking—they simply ignored the group and went back to flying around in the sky.
"Well, that was a good surprise, I guess?" Senzo said. He was still quite puzzled, but now he had to focus on clearing the dungeon.
After reaching this island, he saw a massive blue portal in the center of it, which he assumed to be the exit.
"War sent a spectral warrior into that portal," he ordered. Even if it looked like an exit, this was not the time to make a dumb mistake due to his assumptions.
"Understood."
Without hesitation, War ordered one of the spectral warriors to enter the gate; the moment its hand came into contact with the large blue gate, it vanished from sight.
"And?"
"He is not dead, master."
War truthfully reported, he could feel the end nearing. And after that they would hopefully be able to see their master's home planet.
"!!!"
When Senzo heard that, he couldn't help but start grinning like an idiot; it looked like they had finally cleared this damn dungeon.
"Let's all enter at the same time and clear this damn thing!"
But right as he said that, he saw War raise his arm in front of him.
"Master, he just died!" he hurriedly stated, staring at the blue gate with a determined gaze.
"..."
Senzo was silent for a moment before calming down as well; he was clearly losing himself in his excitement. Luckily something had happened to the spectral warrior War had sent in.
"So what do you all think? Is there another floor on the other side of that gate or something else? Like... Yeah, I don't really have any idea what it could be," Senzo said, clenching his fists.
War kept his mouth shut because he just wanted to jump into the gate headfirst to see what kind of danger could take out his spectral warrior so fast.
But he knew now wasn't the time for that.
How sad.
Death could only roll his eyes; just from War's body language, he could easily guess what he was thinking.
"It's probably not a normal floor—if it even is a new floor—given a spectral warrior was taken down so fast," He voiced his thoughts, hoping Senzo would make a cautious and well-thought-out judgement on what their next course of action should be.
Famine, on the other hand, was actively thinking about what could be on the other side of the gate.
"Could there be a strange mechanism or trap that's delayed on the other side? Or a very strong monster?"
He was just throwing out any and all ideas he could think of; he was also getting sick of this dungeon.
