Chapter 143 - Chapter 143: The Battle — Enel

The sea was drenched in crimson, the stench of blood thick in the air.

Screams and war cries shook the heavens.

The towering giant Zunesha, like an ancient war god, carried the people upon its back as it stepped into the waters of Wano.

The sea, long since stained red, stretched with floating corpses for tens of miles.

Even as the mechanical monsters retreated, the assault did not cease. Warships of the allied World Government nations slowly advanced from both flanks of the sea.

On Zunesha's back, Dragon, gravely wounded, tried to push past everyone's protests—determined to march onto the battlefield.

Luffy, though he had no memory of this man and felt no bond, knew in his heart that this was his father.

Seeing his father intent on going to war, Luffy leapt forward.

"Ojisan, you should stay and rest! We'll go down and help them!"

Ojisan?

Dragon's face froze, caught between helplessness and grief.

So much resentment—that his own son would call him "Ojisan" instead of "father."

That single word made not only Dragon look awkward, but left everyone else dumbstruck with shock…

Did this idiot really just say that?!

Realizing from their stares that he might've said something wrong, Luffy scratched his head and gave his usual goofy laugh. Yet, even so, the word "father" never left his lips.

BOOM!!

An immense explosion thundered in the distance. Luffy, ignoring the moment, called out to Zunesha with his will, asking it to lower them.

The elephant's colossal trunk gently lifted the Thousand Sunny, placing the crew's ship down into the sea.

"Eh?!!"

"Where's Enel?!"

As the crew landed on the waves, Luffy suddenly noticed the self-proclaimed god was no longer among them.

"There!"

Zoro tilted his head upward, pointing at the sky.

At his words, a gleaming silver ship descended slowly from above.

The miraculous craft caught the eye of everyone across the sea. Soldiers, pirates, and survivors alike stared wide-eyed, unable to believe what they were seeing.

"It's… flying?!"

"My god… what is that thing…"

"Don't tell me… that's a pirate ship?!"

"…"

A cacophony of shock and disbelief swept the sea.

Enel's silver ship hovered five hundred meters above the ocean.

"HAHAHAHA! Blue Sea dwellers! Your god has descended! Kneel and worship me!"

"Huh???"

"Who the hell is this guy?"

"Is he insane?"

The sheer overblown theatrics made the onlookers wince in secondhand embarrassment.

Even the Straw Hats groaned. With the exception of their carefree captain, every single one of them covered their faces, wishing they could rip the smug grin off the man in the sky.

"Hahahaha!! ENEL!!"

Luffy, blissfully oblivious to the murderous glares of his crew, stood proudly at the Sunny's bow, waving and shouting.

This idiot…!

The Straw Hats could only grit their teeth, their killing intent directed as much at Luffy as at Enel.

RUMBLE!!!

The sea ahead thundered like rolling stormclouds. Countless World Government warships surged forward in formation.

"Everyone…"

Luffy cracked his bare arms with a grin, teeth flashing. "Let's… fight!!"

"Aye, Captain!!"

"…"

The crew answered in unison. Franky seized the helm, turning the Sunny directly toward the advancing fleet.

High above, Enel watched the Straw Hats' response. After a moment's thought, a cruel smile crept across his lips.

"Hahahaha… then let your god descend upon these Blue Sea worms."

He spun toward the deck, shouting orders to the scurrying robot workers aboard his ship:

"Follow the Straw Hats' vessel. I will let the radiance of god shine upon this land!"

At his command, the robots scrambled, and the silver ship angled itself to follow the Sunny straight toward the fleet.

The blood-soaked waves churned, the Thousand Sunny cleaving forward through storm and spray—

"COUP DE… BURST—CANNON!!"

Under Franky's control, the ship's figurehead, the lion of the sun, roared as its jaws opened wide. A massive cannon extended, glowing with condensed energy.

With a booming roar, a blinding blue-white beam erupted, skimming over the sea and tearing open a path of destruction.

The ray, sharp and furious, was like a giant laser scything through the ocean.

"Wha—what is that?!"

"Too… terrifying!!"

The glare of the beam was so intense, countless sailors squeezed their eyes shut against the light.

And in that blind moment, their ears split with the shriek of death.

When their vision cleared, they turned toward the path of the beam—

And gasped.

"Hhsss!!"

"Impossible!!"

"What kind of attack is that?!"

"What is that ship?!"

Before their eyes, the sea itself had been carved open into a yawning trench, like a new oceanic rift.

Dozens of warships had vanished in an instant—erased, with not even wreckage remaining.

Before the shock could subside, the trench collapsed, seawater rushing back in with cataclysmic force.

The powerful current dragged the remaining warships helplessly into the abyss.

"Help us!!"

"Abandon ship!!"

"I can't swim—!!"

"Save me!!"

Chaos erupted. Men screamed, some too panicked to think, leaping into the water in desperation. But the roaring torrents would not spare them—any who fell overboard vanished without even a ripple.

"What kind of attack was that…?"

High above, Enel stared wide-eyed. Even he had not expected this. The Straw Hats weren't just strong—their seemingly goofy ship itself wielded terrifying power.

That blast was nearly on par with his own vessel… perhaps even stronger.

The revelation made his heart twist with unwillingness.

He refused to let them steal all the glory.

Guiding his silver ark into the heart of the fleet, Enel strode onto the deck, stopping before a massive device.

"HAHAHAHA… now I'll show you what it means to face a god!"

Electric arcs danced wildly along his arms, his drums crackling behind his back. The ship itself hummed as electricity surged through its frame.

Zzzzt… zzzzt…

Bolts coiled across the sky like serpents, writhing above the fleet.

"God's Judgment: Ten Thousand Thunders!!"

His voice roared with arrogance.

Lightning beasts bared their fangs as the thunder drums boomed—then the sky split apart.

Countless bolts cascaded down like silver spears, sewing heaven to sea.

The screams were unbearable. The fleet was engulfed in stormfire, thunder consuming ships whole.

When the fury subsided, flames rose from dozens of burning vessels, smoke curling into the sky.

The scent of charred flesh clung to the sea breeze.

"HAHAHAHA! Pathetic! Is this the might of the Blue Sea's armies?!"

"Shhheeesshh!! Way to go, Enel!!"

Below, Luffy cheered with starry eyes, shouting with joy.

Behind him, the Straw Hats stiffened in silence, every one of them wondering if their captain's brain had finally melted.

Sure, Enel was fighting on their side for now—but who could say he wouldn't turn those same thunderbolts on them next?
