Chapter 70 - Chapter 69

Quick question: Do you think Kakashi didn't train Naruto for the Chunin Exams because Jiraiya was there and he left him to train, but since Jiraiya was busy at the time, he asked Ebisu to do it for the time being, or was it that Kakashi didn't want to train Naruto and asked anyone to do it so he would leave him alone?

Miyu's POV

As I settled into my office, I started meditating.

To avoid stress, you need a few minutes of rest, doing nothing, or meditating peacefully. Perhaps it wouldn't cure it immediately, but it would lessen the symptoms.

Just as I began my relaxation session, someone burst through the door.

"Ms. Miyu, Orochimaru escaped; we have to do something," Junko exclaimed in horror, but I just opened one eye and closed it again, ignoring her. "Ms. Miyu?"

To be honest, this was something I expected.

It had been about three days since I brought back that traitor Pedumaru, and among all those involved, there's only one person capable of letting that pedophile snake go free, and that's Danzo.

But there's a certain situation: I don't care whether he escapes or not, because, like Danzo, he couldn't do anything to me.

I already knew all his secrets, all his hiding places, all his tricks; nothing escaped my grasp. And if I managed to do something, he already saw that I was capable of defeating him on equal terms; what would happen if I used my full power?

Edo Tensei, ha! I have my own too, not to mention I have ways to avoid it, either by forcing him to perform the hand seals to cancel the jutsu or by sealing his very soul.

There was no way he could do anything to me without him ending up twice or three times worse off, and knowing him, he wouldn't risk losing everything he's worked for just for himself; he'd put his head in the lion's jaws.

"Pedumaru is a slithering snake who knows how to slip into various passageways and has many tricks to escape; most likely, no one will be able to find him now, at least for the time being. The best thing to do would be to punish the person who let him escape, and I'm not referring to the guard who was watching over him," I told him calmly.

"Yes, understood," he said, simply nodding his head. "I'll give the information to the ANBS waiting outside the complex."

With that, he left me alone in the office.

Now that I think about it, another thing that needs fixing, besides the education and economic systems, is the judicial system.

There's rarely anything like an entity that can defend, verify, and ensure justice.

Most likely, Danzo will try to come in and propose a band-aid solution, blaming the guard for letting Orochimaru go free when they could have actually neutralized the guy, released him, and left him there as a scapegoat.

Most likely, I'll have to interrupt, but that will have to wait until tomorrow.

After verifying reports, getting a lot of signatures, and visiting the Senju and Chinoike facilities. Not to mention that I still have to see how things are going with Makoto and Daiki, go to the capital, check out the other businesses around the country, and look for candidates to be representatives for each country of the company I'm about to create.

I'm going to be busy these next few days, and that's not the worst part, because with each passing day, the birth of Minato and Kushina's child draws ever closer and, by extension, the Kyubi incident.

I say "child" and not directly "Naruto," because a butterfly effect could very well happen, and it could be a girl instead of a boy, or the child might not be named Naruto at all and could somehow be Menma.

That's why nothing is one hundred percent certain until it actually happens.

...

Yesterday was the hearing to see what had happened with Orochimaru, and it unfolded exactly as I predicted: The imported man tried to defend himself, claiming he'd been knocked out for no reason; when he awoke, Pedumaru was gone.

Danzo arrived, adding fuel to the fire; some argued that it made no sense for the man to have stayed if he were a traitor, while others theorized that Orochimaru betrayed him to waste their time and, consequently, allow him to escape.

The final argument was that, given the unfounded suspicions, a trial shouldn't be held; valid and compelling evidence of his innocence should be sought, and if that were indeed the case, they should investigate who actually let the snake escape.

In the end, the investigation devolved into interrogation and torture, leaving the accused in temporary detention, closely guarded by both elite units, since, as I mentioned, someone could have entered and let Orochimaru escape without anyone noticing; they could do the same to him but kill him.

Once that was over, Minato took the opportunity to address the academy issue. He presented the proposal, and many offered their suggestions and ideas.

In the end, Minato simply nodded and dismissed everyone except me, Hiruzen, Shikaku, and the Anbu leader.

"In the end, you were right. Several ninjas readily accepted your proposal, although there were some more extreme ones who decided that what Tobirama had built shouldn't be touched. But as you said before, if you don't move the foundations of something, you have to expect them to be poorly constructed and eventually collapse. But it gives us the opportunity to create something new and better," Minato commented.

"Did I say that?" I asked incredulously.

"Yes, a while ago, when we first met," Minato replied, a bead of sweat forming on his brow.

"Do you remember the things we talked about when we started as a team?" I asked, somewhat fearfully, taking a step back. I remember saying a lot of things back then, and some of them might land me in jail for such a radical opinion.

"We were just kids. I didn't always take what you said seriously, but the thing I said before, that one really resonated with me," Minato explained. "To see if changing the ninja school could improve things, and if that happens, it might mean it wasn't as refined as people thought. Am I right?"

"We could try it, and if it doesn't work, it's not about going back to where we were," Shikaku said.

"Giving people the opportunity to do more than just ninjas can do, to progress in other areas of the village," the Anbu leader offered.

"That said, I feel it should be done gradually, since such drastic changes can be detrimental," the old monkey said.

"You're right, but to do everything so perfectly, I'll leave the education system reform project to Miyu, making her the new director here by default," Minato ordered in his Hokage voice.

"Oh, I'm the new director, how exciting," I said listlessly.

"The new generation of ninjas will start soon, so I don't think you'll be able to do much this year, but start small," Minato suggested.

"Yes, sigh, Hokage," I sighed, grabbing the documents on the table and leaving with slow, listless steps.

...

While I had two beautiful women beside me and one behind me giving me a massage, we were waiting for Daiki.

Makoto was sitting with a glass of water, staring into space.

I was about to say something, but at that moment Daiki arrived, looking a bit downcast, and sat down across from Makoto.

"What did I do to make you take so long?" I asked him curiously.

"Do you remember the woman I was supposedly going to marry?" he asked me.

"Yes, what happened? Did she cheat on you?" I said, jokingly.

"She was a spy for Kusa. I found out yesterday and had to kill her to prevent her from leaking the information," he replied dejectedly.

"Oh," I said simply, not really knowing how to console a man.

"At least she wasn't unfaithful to you; that's something," Makoto commented with his usual monotonous tone.

"But I loved her, and she loved me too." When he said that, he started to cry.

Hearing Daiki's whimpers, I glanced at Makoto, who shrugged.

I stood up and approached Daiki, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"It's okay; these things happen. You just have to accept the past to see the future." I offered my condolences as best I could. "We were going to talk about how things are going after the end of the war in the underworld, but we'll leave that for another time. Makoto will keep you company and make you feel better, right?"

I ordered, looking at Makoto.

"Me?" Makoto asked, pointing to himself.

"Yes, you, unless you want to have an accident that leaves you bedridden for months," I said in a friendly, non-threatening manner, cracking my knuckles and making the veins in my arm pop.

Makoto paled at this.

"Yes, I took care of Makoto all day," he said, almost as if he were suffering as he said it.

"Really?" Daiki questioned.

"Yes, yes," Makoto began, somewhat nervously. "It'll be a guys' night." With that, he grabbed Daiki's shoulder, making me step back.

"Do you even know what a guys' night is?" Daiki asked, still with snot running down his nose.

Makoto remained silent, saying nothing.

I just sighed; I think it's my time to help these two boys grow up and take them out of their comfort zone.

...

"AAAHH!!" I heard a scream that woke me up. When I opened my eyes, I saw myself half-naked, surrounded by two women who were equally or less clothed; Makoto was standing in the doorway, covering her eyes.

That reminded me that yesterday I went out with the two of them to have fun, to drink and do stupid things; what I remember from being drunk is going to Maokoto's room to have fun with two beauties. I'm just grateful I left Yami with Kushina.

"Sorry, Miss Miyu, I thought Daiki was here and you had left; I didn't mean to get drunk," she explained.

"It's okay, it's just skin; we haven't known each other for so long, how could I show myself like this? But if you're looking for Daiki, he's not here; he must be in another room," I explained.

"If she's not here, then she must have left, since I slept on the couch and she wasn't there, and the only room left was..." He didn't finish the sentence, because he froze instantly and turned pale, paler than Pedumaru.

Before I knew it, Makoto had already disappeared, only to hear a female scream a few minutes later.

"KYAAAAA!!" yelled the woman who must have been Makoto's younger sister.

"You miserable bastard, you piece of shit, how dare you sleep with my sister? I'm going to kill you!" Makoto roared.

"WAIT, IT'S NOT WHAT YOU THINK," Daiki pleaded.

"HOW IS IT NOT WHAT YOU THINK? YOU'RE BOTH NAKED! I'M GOING TO CASTRATE YOU!" That was my cue to leave.

I grabbed my things and, opening the door, used Shunshin to escape the chaos. Let them sort it out between themselves, and if they don't, come back in a few days to see how things are and if they haven't killed each other yet.

...

"So you'll be the new headmistress of the academy; congratulations. My eldest son will be joining the academy soon; I hope you'll take good care of him," Mikoto told me as I performed her prenatal checkups.

"That's right, Itachi is already five years old. I'm already seeing him become a great shinobi in the future, helping our children to be just as strong as him," commented Kushina, who wasn't far away.

At Minato and Fugaku's request, I had been observing their wives' pregnancies all this time.

"I plan to enroll students at age six, but I'll implement that next year, so you can get a head start on some of the curriculum," I replied while recording Mikoto's baby's progress.

"Do you know if your child will be a boy or a girl?" Kushina asked.

"We haven't wanted to know yet. We'll find out when the baby is born," Mikoto replied, looking uncertain.

"Seriously, I was thinking that if one of our children turns out to be a boy and the other a girl, we could arrange for them to marry in the future," Kushina suggested.

"What an excellent idea! I could mention it to Fugaku; as the clan leader, he can arrange a marriage for our children," Mikoto added.

I just chuckled to myself, because if they were both boys, they might have a better chance of ending up together. If Naruto weren't a shonen anime, maybe those two would have ended up together, and it would have made more sense for Naruto to marry Hinata and Sasuke to marry Sakura.

"Hehehe," I started to laugh inwardly.

"Miyu, what's wrong?" Mikoto asked.

"Nothing; I just remembered something funny," I explained. "Everything's fine with your son," I told Mikoto, glancing at Kushina. "What worries me is you and the birth of yours."

"Relax," Kushina replied, raising an arm and patting her muscles. "Minato already has everything ready for the birth of our child."

The fact that he already has everything ready without me knowing suggests that he doesn't need me there, or perhaps he hasn't told me yet; I think I'll have to talk to him about it soon.
