With great resolution, he dropped the book on the ground between his legs, looked around him at the quiet forest, in hope that no one was around, then bit the back skin of his left pinky viciously until blood flowed from it.
After wincing at the pain his bite had caused him for another minute, he allowed the blood to drip onto the book that was on the ground.
Miraculously, the moment his blood touched the book, the old and withered-looking book, quickly transformed into a hard cover book that looked completely brand new.
The book that was previously small, moldy and grey, like an old pamphlet, had somehow transformed into a black colored, hard covered textbook that seemed to contain over 40 thousand pages within it.
The moment after the book transformed, it strangely flew into the air, and drew a large circle in the air in front of the boy. After drawing that circle, it then flew towards the boy and landed back on the ground where it had previously been placed.
Seeing this, the boy looked ahead of him, at where the book flew, but strangely realized that nothing happened at the location where the book drew the circle.
After waiting a couple of minutes for the appearance of the portal that his father told him would appear after he dripped his blood onto the book, he carefully reached towards the book on the ground to pick it up with both hands in disappointment.
The moment both of his hands touched the book, however, a strange thing occurred. The empty space in front of him had somehow transformed into a black portal with a size equal to the circle the book had previously drawn in the air.
Seeing the large, black, circular portal appear miraculously before him, shocked the boy. He was so shocked that he unknowingly let go of the book on the ground. But the moment his hands left the book, the large portal in front of him also disappeared from sight.
After seeing this strange occurrence, the boy reasoned that in order to enter the portal he must hold onto the book. So after taking a minute to gather his thoughts, the boy picked up the book from the ground, shakily stood up, and entered the portal that magically appeared in front of him.
After walking into the dark portal, the portal entrance disappeared, and he was met with a dark world with no end in sight. He stood in the dark world for a couple seconds in puzzling silence.
