With the Trial of Standing out of the way, Aegis decided to live a little.
The Canyon made this easy. There was a bathhouse on the fourth terrace with a heated stone bench and a masseuse named Imma who was very good at her job.
"You carry your tension here," Imma said, and drove her thumbs into a spot between Aegis's shoulder blades.
"Hhhngh."
"And here."
"HHHNGH."
"Hold still. If you tense up, this takes longer." Imma worked down her spine one vertebra at a time. "Foreigners always carry it in the same places. Too much sitting, too much politics. Your body is good, though. Strong back. Strong legs. Strong... everything, actually, from what the whole city saw yesterday."
"Thank you. I grew these muscles myself."
When Imma finished, Aegis could barely walk, and she tipped her a lot of silver.
