The return to the mansion was heavier than the trip there. Not because of defeat, but because now everyone carried something far too concrete to ignore. The evidence was placed in sealed boxes while still inside the carriage: the recording crystals, the list saved by Aria, Caldrick's statement, Marius's initial testimony, and the names of the guards who had allowed Havelock's men to move through the secondary roads.
