-CHAPTER 21-
-FUSHIGURO MEGUMI POV-
Honestly, despite wanting to, I couldn't really do a Subjugation Ritual at the school. There were countless barriers and whatnot there protecting the place, and not to mention all the sorcerers that could and probably would come in between when they see me fighting a "curse".
So seeing that, I sneaked out late at night. Using the internet to find a good abandoned place where I could perform my Ritual.
-And not so soon I arrived at an abandoned warehouse near the harbor of the city. The first thing I did after arriving there was set up a Veil- it was important that no civilian interferes in my business.
"Emerge from darkness, blacker than darkness. Purify that which is impure." I intoned as I held the hand signs then entered the building as the Veil emerged and closed around the building.
Was it overconfident to assume that I could tame Tiger Funeral without my strongest Shikigami, Gyokuken available to me? Maybe. But I was becoming starved of a good fight and sparring with my friends had not been doing it for me for some time now. As we didn't use CE during those and the sparring I did with Gojo- which did include CE -usually ended with me too mentally tired to continue, so they were more like training. And I hadn't seen Hakari since that day… so we still had yet to fight.
While the training with Gojo had improved my hand-to-hand combat and my physical strength by leaps and bounds… I kind of didn't want to get beat up anymore.
I promise this though… the next time I fight that bastard… the difference between us wouldn't be so huge.
Gojo had even commented on this, beckoning me to find more equal opponents to grow. Which I agreed with. (as well as remarking how I didn't use to ask him for training before but now I found basically any excuse to fight)
So while Gojo was finding a mission for me, I would polish my skills by finally taming the last Shikigami on my list for at least some time.
Because there is no way I can tame Mahoraga as I am right now. Deep in my heart I knew that the only way I could tame it was, either if I found some way to make my current strongest attack, the Abyssal Laser even stronger. Or if many of my tamed Shikigami die, and I figure out a combination of them, and make a Totality that can one-shot the Divine General.
Which for the first… might take some time. And for the other… I didn't want to think of it. I was still very attached to my summons… even after what happened to Shiro. If I could help it, I would rather go for the option Laser-go-boom as I didn't want my Shikigami dying even if it was required.
But I shook my head off of these thoughts, as there was no use over thinking things. What will happen, will happen.
Without much delay, I wore my Cursed Tool, marveling over its durability for a moment before I started summoning my Shikigami. "[Gama]" "[Rabbit Escape]"
These ones were my most useful Shikigami in a way; I could literally use them for anything, as whatever happens they wouldn't be destroyed ever (as long as they stay in the shadows).
While the warehouse started filling with countless white rabbits, I could feel Gama lurking in the shadows ready to support me whatever way possible.
So not delaying it any longer, I performed the handsigns, which looked like a roaring tiger's head. "[Tiger Funeral]"
The shadows in front of me bulged as a male-looking fearsome 5 meters tall bipedal tiger, with wide shoulders and bulging muscles, a unknown bright red symbol on its forehead, orange furred with black stripes all over its body and white fur around its neck, and many sharp teeth that can easily eat a man whole, wearing just some loose black martial arts pants from the waist down, came roaring out as it jumped straight at me with its fearsome claws.
"ROARRR!"
I freeze, as if my soul is afraid, as if I was just a prey in front of a predator. A deer in front of a tiger. At that moment I had a choice… I could just choose to die and would painlessly pass on. Or I could choose to fight the king of the jungle.
And while the instincts within me screamed, my will power held strong, denying such a death with a sneer. I had died once; I would not die so uselessly again.
-And as I unfreeze not a millisecond soon, despite the long month of physical training I am only barely able to dodge the strike- with a little help from Gama at that. The deflected kick hits the ground and instantly turns it to dust from just the physical impact of the strike.
What… what was that? I think as I remembered the feeling of being prey, frowning in anger. Was that this tiger's ability? It had to be right? But was that it?
My eyes narrowed as I eyed the bipedal tiger as it looked straight back at me with its feline yellow eyes full of… grief? What?! My eyes widened. This had never happened before. This was the first Shikigami that I had seen capable to showing more emotions than anger or rage.
"KEKEKEKEKE!" But gather than giving the tiger time to… process its emotions (?), the horde of white rabbits jumped on the ferocious tiger to overwhelm it and-
Were instantly defeated with just a swipe of the tiger's paw.
My eyes narrowed at that as I sent even more rabbits at the tiger only for them to be defeated too.
From what was shown in the canon, one could conclude that the Tiger was a very powerful hand-to-hand combat Shikigami. Basically strong enough that- on physical and hand-to-hand aspect at least, it can fight an adult Gojo Satoru equally.
So for me, who was so far beneath such an opponent the only way to dodge its hits was Gama, who was canonically able to save Megumi from a berserk Toji's hits, and was even stronger and faster here due to the Binding Vow strengthening him.
But that still begs the question of what its ability really is and how it works… I guess I'll have to enter now. Finally a smile appears on my face as I look at the tiger who turns towards me on all fours, its eyes showing its grieving mourning emotions before-
Drop! Drop!
My head tilts in confusion. It's… it's crying?
The fearsome and ferocious looking tiger that would make a grown man cry had started crying… Man, this is the weirdest Shikigami yet… But I still want a big cat, I love cats.
But then, not a moment soon, both my eyes and nose caught something interesting. Sniff… is that oil I smell? And as I looked towards the Tiger closely, I was shocked to find that rather than the tears falling on the ground- they had quickly spread themselves all over the Tiger's striped body.
Oh! My eyes widen in realization as-
"ROAAAARRRR!"
FLAAAAME!
SIZZLE!
…So that is what it does. I think as I looked on in amazement at the burning and roaring form of Funeral Tiger, or also called Mourning Tiger. But rather than looking like it was in pain, it looked victorious. Like a king declaring to the heavens that the battle had already been won.
A mad, almost crazy smile appeared on my face as I reinforced myself with CE and muttered. "No, the fight is just starting."

A/N: So how did you like my version of Funeral Tiger? I didn't want to make him too strong, nor weak. So while he is pretty up there- he isn't going to be fighting Mahoraga 1v1 as he is anytime soon.
